Lin Tian walked into the chamber and the room behind him became silent. The air changed it was a small change at first like the old ruins were taking a slow breath.
The sound of the water above him started to fade and something much older took its place. Every step Lin Tian took felt different like he was not just walking on stone but entering something that was alive.
Lin Tian took a step and the sound of his step echoed for a time. He took another step. The echo came back but it was a little different this time. Lin Tians eyes became smaller as he looked around.
His Chaos Qi started to move it was not around him but it was also touching the walls, the floor and the air. The moment it touched these things he knew that something was not right.
The space in front of him was not stable. The stairs. A big hallway appeared. The hallway was made of stone and it had big pillars on both sides.
These pillars had carvings of dragons and phoenixes but they were not finished they were broken. It looked like something had stopped the people who were making these carvings.
Lin Tian walked forward and the moment his foot touched the floor everything changed. The pillar next to him moved,. Not in a way that he could see clearly.
His Chaos Qi felt it. It changed the way the energy was flowing. The hallway was not the same anymore.
Lin Tian did not stop walking he just changed the way he was moving. He put his foot down he changed his weight. He turned his body a little.
His Chaos Qi was moving from his body. It was going out in small waves. He was not moving randomly he was in control.
Behind him, the stairs. There was no sound of stone moving or shaking. It just stopped being. Lin Tian did not look back he just kept moving.
He heard Gu Chens voice in his mind it was very quiet like the environment was stopping him from speaking.
"This layer reacts to people directly be careful " Gu Chen said.
Lin Tian took a breath and he said, "I know." In front of him the hallway split into paths. At first he thought he saw three paths, four but then he was not sure.
His eyes moved quickly and the paths changed they became curved and straight again.
Even the light changed it was like everything was connected.
Lin Tian thought it might be an illusion. Then he thought again. He sent out his Chaos Qi to touch each path. It came back with different feelings each time.
The paths were real. They were not fixed. "They are changing because of me " Lin Tian said quietly.
"Not because of where I'm but because of how my energy is flowing."
Lin Tian took another step forward and this time he changed his Chaos Qi on purpose. He made it a little uneven. The hallway reacted immediately.
Two of the paths. The one that was left became more stable. Lin Tians lips curled up a little. He said, "They are not illusions they are reactions."
He kept moving and each step was connected to a small change in his Chaos Qi.
If he was too stable the space became unpredictable. If he was too chaotic the hallway broke into paths that overlapped each other.
He needed to find a balance. Not the kind that most people looked for. He needed controlled chaos.
As he walked further the changes became more aggressive. A pillar in front of him. The carvings on it seemed to move like they were alive.
Lin Tian raised his hand and a small thread of his Chaos Qi touched the surface. The reaction was immediate. The carvings surged with energy.
Lin Tian moved to the side his body guided by the change in his Qi. The energy wave passed where he had been standing.
It hit the wall on the other side. The wall did not break it just absorbed the energy. There was a small ripple.
Lin Tians eyes became sharper. He said, "Everything here is connected." The pillars, the walls, the floor and the paths were all part of the system.
They were all reacting to each other.
He kept moving faster now but still in control. His movements became more fluid. His Chaos Qi changed in small waves.
The hallway became narrower, wider. Then it twisted. At one point the ground tilted to the side.
When Lin Tian changed his Qi it became flat again.
Reality was not fixed here only the way things interacted with each other was. A sudden pulse of energy came from under his feet.
Lin Tian reacted immediately. He pushed his Chaos Qi downward. The energy met his and flowed around him.
When the energy passed the space in front of him broke into many layers. The hallway became paths that overlapped each other each one real and each one dangerous. Lin Tian stopped moving.
For the first time since he entered this layer he became completely still. His Chaos Qi slowed down. Then it stopped moving.
The layers changed one moved to the left another to the right and an one folded inward. Lin Tian watched, not with his eyes. With his Qi.
Each layer had a rhythm, a different frequency of energy flow. Most of them were unstable.
One of them flowed in a pattern that was similar to his own.
Lin Tian took a breath. Then he stepped forward. The moment his foot landed the other layers. The hallway became one path again.
For a moment everything was still and then a low humming noise filled the air. The pillars along the hallway lit up faintly. The carvings on them glowed with an old light.
The mist pulled back like it was acknowledging something.
Lin Tian kept walking. Gu Chens voice became clearer in his mind. "You are adapting faster than I expected " Gu Chen said. "Most people would have been lost the moment the paths split." Lin Tian did not respond he just kept looking
At the end of the hallway there was a doorway. It was different from the archways he had seen it was intact and it was not broken.
The surface was dark stone and it had no visible carvings but his Chaos Qi gathered around it in dense swirling currents. It was waiting.
Lin Tian slowed down his steps. The air became heavier. His Chaos Qi. It moved closer to his body not out of fear but out of readiness.
"This is not a passage " Gu Chen said quietly. Lin Tian nodded he knew.
He stopped a steps away from the doorway and the space around it was stable. It was completely still. After everything he had just passed through it felt unnatural.
Lin Tian sent out a thread of his Chaos Qi to touch the surface of the doorway. The moment it touched the doorway pulsed, not violently not aggressively. With recognition.
The Qi did not go back it did not attack it just mirrored him. Lin Tians eyes became smaller.
He said, "It is observing." Gu Chen replied after a pause "No it is measuring." Lin Tian took a breath and then he stepped forward and put his hand on the surface of the doorway.
His Chaos Qi flowed, not in force not in defense. In controlled changing patterns. It was imperfect, adaptive and alive.
The doorway responded, the surface rippled like water and the energy swirled faster aligning, testing, learning.
For a moment nothing else existed, Lin Tian and the ruins. Then the doorway dissolved, revealing a darkness beyond.
The humming noise of the ruins became louder aware more focused. Lin Tian stepped forward without hesitation and, behind him the hallway disappeared more.
Ahead of him the second layer truly began.
