Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: The Baratie’s Brat — A Debt of Soup and Soul

Chapter 32: The Baratie's Brat — A Debt of Soup and Soul

The screen transitioned from the desolate grey rock to a warm, bustling golden light. The sound of crashing waves was replaced by the clatter of pans and the aggressive shouting of men.

The Scene: The Floating Fortress of Food

A younger, teenage Sanji—now with his signature suit and a cigarette dangling from his lip—was shown kicking a pirate out of the front doors of a massive, fish-shaped ship.

[System: The Baratie — The East Blue's Sanctuary.]

"Don't come back until you have money, you shitty customer!" Sanji spat, adjusting his tie.

But as the pirate scurried away, Sanji's eyes shifted. He looked at a starving, penniless man shivering on the deck. Without a word, he walked back into the kitchen and returned with a steaming bowl of seafood pilaf.

"Eat," Sanji said, his voice dropping the aggression. "In this restaurant, if you're hungry, you're a guest. That's the only rule."

The Global Chat:

The world, still reeling from the horror of the rock, watched as the boy who almost starved became the man who made sure no one else did.

> [Zeff]: "Hmph. Look at that shitty brat. He always was too soft-hearted for a pirate. He'd feed a Sea King if it looked like it missed breakfast."

> [Sanji]: "Shut up, old man! I was just making sure the deck didn't get stained by a corpse. It's bad for business!"

> [Monkey D. Luffy]: "SHISHISHI! That's why I picked him! The food tasted like kindness! Hey Sanji, make me that meat-bowl again when this is over!"

> [Don Krieg]: (Typing from the East Blue) "Kindness?! That 'kindness' is a weakness! I'm the strongest man in the East! I'll take that restaurant and the 'All Blue' by force!"

> [Dracule Mihawk]: "Don Krieg... I followed your fleet just to kill time, but seeing this... I realize why your soul is so small. You don't understand the 'strength' of a man who cooks with his life on the line. You are beneath even the boy's soup."

The Scene: The First Meeting of the Wings

The screen suddenly shifted to a sunny afternoon at the Baratie. A small, strange boat shaped like a coffin was docked nearby, and a rubber boy was screaming about wanting a cook.

But the camera focused on a green-haired man with three swords sleeping on the deck of a small caravel.

The teenage Sanji walked out to the balcony, spotting the Straw Hat crew. His eyes landed on Nami first, turning into hearts, but then he looked at the swordsman.

"Hey, Moss-head," Sanji called out, blowing smoke toward the ship. "You look like you're lost. This is a restaurant, not a nap-room."

Zoro opened one eye, a dangerous glint reflecting in his pupil. "I don't remember asking a waiter for directions. Go fetch me some sake and keep the chatter down."

The air between them sparkled with an instant, violent rivalry.

The Action: The Defense of the Baratie

The footage sped up, showing the battle against Don Krieg's armada. Sanji wasn't using his hands—he was dancing. His kicks were like heavy hammers, shattering shields and sending armored men flying into the sea.

"Hands are for cooking," Sanji's voice echoed over the sound of breaking bone. "I won't dirty them on trash like you."

The screen zoomed in on his legs. Even back then, without the "Black Leg" style fully formed, the speed was abnormal. Every strike was precise, aimed at the vitals.

> [Vinsmoke Ichiji]: "Pathetic. Look at him struggle against East Blue fodder. If he had his exoskeleton, those pathetic shields would have turned to dust instantly."

> [Sanji]: "I didn't need your 'science' to win then, and I don't need it now. My legs are enough."

> [Rocks D. Xebec]: "♪ THE WAITER KICKS~ THE SWORDSMAN SLEEPS~ THE RUBBER BOY HIS PROMISE KEEPS~ ♪ But wait... look at the boy's eyes when he watches the swordsman fight the Hawk-Eye... He realized something there, didn't he?"

The Turning Point: The Farewell

The scene turned emotional. Luffy had won. Sanji was standing on the deck, his bags packed. He tried to leave quietly, but the entire staff of the Baratie—all the rough, scarred cooks—were lined up on the balcony.

"HEY! SANJI!" Zeff's voice boomed, louder than the ocean. "Don't get a cold, you shitty brat!"

Sanji stopped. His shoulders began to shake. He turned around and fell to his knees, his forehead pressing against the wooden deck in a full dogeza.

"ZEFF-OKAN! For all these years... for everything you've done for me... I WILL NEVER FORGET THE DEBT I OWE YOU!"

The entire Baratie burst into tears. Even the pirates watching on the screen were wiping their eyes.

The System's Revelation: The Future Peak

The image of the crying Sanji dissolved. In its place, the screen showed a dark, futuristic hallway—the Raid on Onigashima.

Sanji was running, but his body was glowing with a strange, red aura. His bones were snapping back into place instantly. He looked at his own hand in horror.

"Not this... not the heartless monster..."

But then, he looked at a picture of his mother, Sora. He took a deep breath. The red aura turned Blue.

[System Note: True power is not found in the absence of emotion, but in the mastery of it. Rank 46 is not for a Vinsmoke Weapon... it is for the Man who found his own fire.]
