Elain stared at the paper in her hand.
Meet me at Willow River, three in the afternoon.
Below those words were what she assumed to be the sender's initials.
RG…
Her heart hammered as a certain face came to mind. No, it couldn't be. Why would he send her a letter like this?
Recalling their last conversation at the ball, Elain went over what she had said to him.
She soon deduced that Rafelius wanted to meet her to inform her of his decision, whether he would honor her request or not.
But why was there a need for them to meet?
He could have simply relayed his decision in a few words through the letter. Though that would be somewhat risky, even if the matter wasn't explicitly stated, because if her aunt had seen the letter first, she would surely have questioned its contents.
Thankfully, her aunt Cynthia had gone to Lady Mary's house after breakfast and hadn't seen the letter being delivered. Otherwise, she would have asked who had sent it.
