Elain stiffened at the mention of her secrets. As she stared into the depths of Refalius's silver eyes, she wondered what else he knew about her.
"You wouldn't speak a word about me, you said so."
"I did, yes. It is an act of kindness, one I give on rare occasions."
"And because of that, you expect me to do your bidding. Is that it?" The bitter words settled on her tongue.
She looked at him with venom.
She shouldn't have expected any decency from this man, who was used to getting everything he wanted. She did not exactly know what he wanted from her, but she knew for certain she had caught his interest in some way.
Rafelius tilted his head slightly, an unreadable look on his face.
"What can you do, anyway, if I use your secrets against you?" His voice was low and calm as the sea, yet so cold and unforgiving.
Elain's heart skipped a beat.
"What if I decide to blackmail you?"
Her fist clenched as she gritted her teeth.
