Partnership?
Elain almost wanted to laugh at how ridiculous that sounded.
She had been blackmailed into this and given no choice in the matter, so she would call it anything but a partnership.
"I need more information about this relic. What it looks like, what it does, whether it contains any magic that could harm whoever touches it," she said. She had not come here to drink tea and eat the treats he had brought.
"What if I told you it was a dangerous relic?"
"So what? I already made a bargain with you. There is no turning back now, is there?"
He smirked darkly, his silver eyes fixed on her as though she were far more interesting than the sweet treats spread across the table.
"It is an amulet with a yellow stone. It remained in the King's trove for three hundred years before it was lost."
