Jason fell into the water but quickly remembered he couldn't swim, the water felt heavier than he was used to.
But Jason managed to find something that was floating above water, he didn't think twice before grabbing it.
It wasn't enough, Jason kept slipping off it but managed to always grab back onto it.
"F-Fuck! This is bad! I really might die at this rate!" Jason muttered under his breath before being submerged once again.
There was nothing beneath the water but Jason realized he wasn't resurfacing.
"I-I cannot breathe!" Jason exclaimed and instantly felt himself losing consciousness.
However, he caught sight of something in this water from his peripheral vision.
It was moving at an astounding speed but it shouldn't be able to move in such temperatures.
However, he realized that this wasn't the world he knew so there was a strong chance there were things that existed that could live in the water.
Finally, he resurfaced, air flooded his lungs and Jason never felt more grateful than he was now.
But looked down at the torso only to see blue hands with claws grabbing him.
Jason pushed whatever it was off him and tried to reach for the ledge but missed it.
"Stay still or you really will drown."
Jason heard a voice behind him and instantly jerked his head, it was an intelligent creature as she pushed him to the edge.
This was no doubt a mermaid, it had pale, almost porcelain bluish skin with aquatic nature. Her hair was thick, voluminous locks in deep navy and vibrant, it looked like Medusa with snakes for hair instead this one had locks.
Jason was confident this was a mermaid but had no idea what to say or do when he took her sight in.
"What the hell are you? Why can I understand you?" Jason questioned but the mermaid looked even more shocked when he spoke to her.
"You know our tongue?" The mermaid questioned but Jason raised a brow.
"Girl, I spoke English," Jason responded right away.
"E…N…GLISH?" She repeated like it was her first time hearing that.
But before the conversation could progress any further, Jason heard a voice behind him.
"CORAL!!!"
Coral looked panicked and told Jason to go before someone saw him.
They were forbidden from interacting with surface dwellers.
Jason knew right away and ran out of sight but hid behind a tree.
Coral submerged herself into the water to go meet the source of the voice.
"That's a fucking mermaid!" Jason blurted out but something told him they weren't all so friendly.
Jason was about to leave but saw something move in the water.
He assumed it was one of the mermaids but this thing surfaced and Jason saw it was a merman.
"What…?" Jason muttered under his breath because unlike the cute girl he just saw, this one had the head of a fish but also a humanoid form.
"That shit is ugly as hell!" Jason couldn't believe something so hideous could exist.
He began to backtrack and unknown to him, there was a twig on the floor behind him.
Jason stepped on it and the sound alerted the merman in the water who jerked his head suddenly in his direction.
Jason tried his hardest not to laugh and also knew a mer-creatures thing was that they had tails.
The fish couldn't get out of water and even if it could, there was no way it could give chase.
"Get your Fred-looking ass back in the water," Jason barked with a chuckle.
This was a Spongebob reference that he hated no one could hear, Jason kept laughing the more he looked at him.
He had no idea why this was so funny but what the actual hell was that?
But that laugh soon stopped when he noticed the fish's face change, it looked irritated.
"Wait, what?" Jason muttered under his breath, the tears in his eyes disappearing.
The fish crawled onto land, it had a tail but it wasn't the tail of a fish.
This motherfucker looked like a breed of fish and snake, except the tail was as thick and long as him.
"Wait, wait, wait!" Jason tried to speak to it, hoping it could understand him but in the blink of an eye, the fish moved at such an astounding speed that it made Jason's heart skip a beat.
How the hell was it faster on land than him?
Jason ran as fast as his feet could carry him but noticed the fish stopped the moment he took a step away.
"Huh?" Jason thought to himself before looking back right away as he had no plans to fall for the same trick twice.
However, this was only for a split-second as he had no intention of being caught off guard for the second time.
The fish stood there, like it was studying before parting his lips to mimic his laughter.
It came out robotic, like it was the first sound it tried to recreate in its existence.
The fish jumped back into the water but Jason was left with one thing in mind.
"What the hell was this world even about?"
Jason left this area right away but noticed there was a small village ahead, he could feel himself feeling exhausted already and knew this body needed rest or it risked breaking down.
He couldn't adapt to fatigue and hunger after all.
