Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Diona's Dinner

Duraf stepped forward and extended his hand in a friendly gesture, saying warmly, "Young man, you must be the new farm owner?"

"That farm has been lying fallow for so long. It's truly wonderful that someone can restore it to its former state."

"Back in the day, the crops grown on this farm were bought even by people from other nations. Grains irrigated with water from Springvale guarantee superior quality."

The farm had been abandoned for so long; now that someone had finally taken it over, Duraf was more than happy.

Since this young man named Arkz possessed a Vision, perhaps he could truly manage the farm successfully, which would offer more options for everyone in Springvale.

For the ordinary young people of Springvale, the only ways to find a job that could support a family were to join the Hunters' Guild or seek employment in Mondstadt City.

Although the job in the Hunters' Guild was a bit tiring, the pay was high and it was close to home, making it a highly sought-after position among Springvale's youth.

However, the Hunters' Guild didn't have that many positions, nor was every young person suited to become a hunter. If Arkz could develop the farm, it could provide more job opportunities in Springvale.

Thinking of this, Duraf became even more enthusiastic towards Arkz.

When Duraf learned that Arkz had only arrived at the farm yesterday and didn't even have a proper kitchen, he enthusiastically dragged Arkz over to invite him for dinner.

Seeing that Duraf genuinely wanted to treat him to a meal and help him integrate into Springvale, Arkz happily agreed.

Following behind Duraf, Arkz walked into the small house and immediately spotted Diona at the dining table.

Diona was currently gnawing vigorously on a pork rib and hadn't noticed Arkz yet.

Hearing the door open, Diona asked without looking up, "Dad, why are you so slow? The food is almost cold."

Duraf said, "Diona, we have a guest tonight."

A guest? Diona looked up, wondering internally, "Is Dad inviting Uncle Jacques from next door for dinner?"

Duraf introduced Arkz: "This is my daughter, Diona. What do you think? Isn't she very cute?"

Arkz smiled and said, "She is indeed very cute."

Hearing Arkz's approval, the smile on Duraf's face deepened.

Duraf thought: If you praise my daughter, then we are good brothers jpg.

"How is it you!"

Diona exclaimed upon seeing Arkz behind Duraf.

Duraf noticed that his daughter and Arkz knew each other, and a wary look appeared on his face as he asked, "You know each other?"

"Hmph! I don't know him at all!"

Diona snorted coldly, unwilling to talk to Arkz.

Arkz explained, "This afternoon, while I was fishing by the river, I ran into Diona chasing a wild boar. We met around that time."

"There might have been some misunderstanding between Diona and me back then."

Diona turned her head away like a cold little cat, no longer looking at Arkz.

Seeing Diona's reaction, Duraf breathed a sigh of relief. Since Diona hadn't refuted it, it meant it truly was just a misunderstanding.

"It's good that it was a misunderstanding, it's good that it was a misunderstanding."

Duraf quickly ushered Arkz to sit down.

Since it was just a misunderstanding between young people, Duraf didn't intend to interfere. Moreover, judging by Diona's attitude toward Arkz, she clearly didn't like him.

This made Duraf, the doting father, relax. This way, he wouldn't have to worry about his daughter Diona being whisked away by Arkz.

After all, Arkz was not only handsome but also a Vision holder like Diona, and he owned a large farm at such a young age. Duraf would have wanted to play matchmaker for him with any young lady in town.

Although Diona was spoiled by Duraf, she wasn't a willful little cat. Even though she disliked Arkz, she didn't refuse to share dinner with him.

It had to be said, Duraf's cooking skills were genuinely good. The wild boar meat was cooked perfectly, and Arkz truly experienced the joy of eating meat in large mouthfuls.

Furthermore, for this lavish dinner, Diona not only went out to hunt a wild boar with great effort but also used her deft hands to mix a large jug of juice from common ingredients.

Although the juice was non-alcoholic, the taste was really good, especially since Arkz wasn't fond of drinking alcohol.

Paired with the delicious juice and holding a wild boar leg to gnaw on fiercely, the meal Arkz had at Diona's house was exceptionally satisfying and enjoyable.

In return, Arkz borrowed Diona's kitchen and took out the large Fish he had caught in the river while bathing from his Vision.

Arkz had originally planned to have this Fish for dinner today, but since dinner was settled at Diona's house, this prepared Fish was no longer needed.

If they only ate pork, even if the wild boar meat was exceptionally delicious, they would eventually tire of it. Using this large Fish to switch flavors would serve as a return gift for today's dinner.

Placing the already prepared Fish skillfully onto the grill, Arkz began his Fish-grilling performance.

As for Arkz's grilling skills, one might say he seemed to have inherited the Traveler's culinary talent from the game. As long as he was careful and didn't make mistakes, he could produce food of perfect quality, complete with various special effects.

Arkz had naturally tried to see if the famous Teyvat Fried Egg could truly resurrect someone, but he discovered that the effects of all resurrected food seemed to have changed from resurrection to restoring Vitality.

Arkz then considered that if he could make this restored life energy remain inside the body, it might indeed achieve the effect of resurrection, but unfortunately, Arkz had yet to find a way to prevent life energy from dissipating from the body of the deceased.

As time passed, the plump Fish began to turn golden brown and fragrant, oil dripping continuously. The aroma of grilled Fish started to spread throughout the house.

Upon seeing Arkz's posture while grilling the Fish, Duraf had judged Arkz to be an experienced grilling master, but only after smelling the aroma now did Duraf realize that Arkz's skill in making grilled Fish far surpassed his own.

Duraf inhaled the enticing fragrance deeply and praised, "Arkz's skills are truly excellent."

"Diona, it seems we are in for a treat tonight."

Diona was also extremely tempted by the aroma of the grilled Fish, feeling an itch of anticipation.

Hearing her father Duraf praise Arkz at this moment, although she inwardly acknowledged Arkz's culinary skills, she refused to back down verbally.

"Where is it great? *Slurp* It's not even as good as the grilled Fish I make."

"Then let me have your portion of grilled Fish later?"

"No way!"

"I'm not just being greedy; I just want to taste what improvements are in his grilled Fish so I can offer him some pointers."

"Hahaha."

"Hey, Dad, stop laughing."

Arkz carefully tended to the grilled Fish. This was the first time he was showcasing his cooking skills in front of others, so he couldn't afford to burn it due to a momentary tremor.

Arkz hadn't tasted Mondstadt's grilled Fish yet. Seeing how plump and vibrant this Fish looked, Arkz couldn't help but anticipate the taste once the grilling was complete.

Although the grilling time wasn't long, the waiting process felt exceptionally drawn out.

When Arkz brought the grilled Fish over, even Diona couldn't help but cheer along with Duraf.

"Oh!!!!"

"It's finally here! I can barely wait any longer."

Because the Fish Arkz caught was too large, one plate couldn't hold it all, so Arkz divided the grilled Fish into three sections: the head, the body, and the tail.

Looking at the Fish tail placed before her, Diona couldn't help but recall the scene by the small river today when this Fish had slapped her mouth with its tail. Although it didn't hurt, the insult was extreme.

To get revenge, Diona could no longer hold back. She immediately reached out with her chopsticks, picked up a large piece of meat from the tail, and placed it in her bowl to savor it carefully.

Duraf laughed and said, "It seems Diona can't wait either. Let's eat."

After politely greeting Arkz, Duraf unceremoniously picked up the Fish head and put it in his bowl; he loved Fish heads the most.

Arkz had controlled the heat very well when grilling this Fish; the Fish head must be delicious.

The moment the Fish meat entered their mouths, Duraf and Diona simultaneously groaned—not just because the grilled Fish was so delicious, but because as the meat went down their throats, it transformed into a warm current that flowed through their entire bodies, mending tiny internal injuries.

When hunting, Duraf and Diona inevitably sustained various injuries, some of which the human body couldn't heal on its own. Although they didn't cause immediate issues, these accumulated hidden injuries would erupt all at once when the body weakened.

When wounds automatically repaired themselves, the injured person would always feel an itchiness at the site.

Arkz's dishes worked on the same principle. When the food transformed into healing energy to repair bodily damage, it transmitted a stimulation to the body, causing a comfortable groan.

Of course, if one's willpower was strong enough, one could suppress it.

Feeling the strange effect of the grilled Fish, Duraf couldn't help but ask in shock, "Brother Lu Ming, does this grilled Fish also have the effect of healing internal injuries?!"

Arkz smiled mysteriously and explained, "It's Elemental Power; I added Elemental Power to it."

Although Elemental Power had various magical effects, and some allogenes could indeed use Elemental Power to heal others' injuries, it was reasonable that incorporating Elemental Power into ingredients could achieve such an effect.

However, using Elemental Power in cooking was truly unheard of.

But Duraf thought, "Why bother thinking about it? This is his secret; prying too much is impolite."

"Besides, the most important thing right now is to eat more of this grilled Fish. Grilled Fish this delicious that can also heal internal injuries is one bite less the more you eat."

Worried that Diona might be too reserved and embarrassed to take Fish meat, Duraf specially placed a large piece of Fish into her bowl.

At that moment, Duraf noticed that while he and Arkz were chatting, Diona had been eating the Fish tail like a sneaky little cat and had almost finished it.

Duraf immediately stopped holding back, picked up the Fish head in his bowl, and started devouring it.

Seeing how much they loved the grilled Fish he prepared, Arkz was very happy.

Considering that he could make grilled Fish whenever he wanted, Arkz decided not to compete with them for the Fish meat.

Although the wild boar stew Duraf made had no special effects, tasting it revealed a unique flavor, not just because of the addition of Mondstadt's local spices.

Delicious!!!
