Caesar soon walked out of the room, leaving the two women alone. Coming out of the room, he saw a long passageway with candles mounted on the sides and a chandelier on top. He walked in the passageway; he slowly turned his head. There was a window to his left.
Outside, he saw a clean road with carriages moving around the house—some big, some small.
'Heaven.'
He briefly glanced at the outside before continuing his walk. While walking, he didn't see any maids or servants. He took out a gold pocket watch from his left pocket.
'They still have about twenty minutes before they come.'
To get some privacy with Lady Ariana, he had sent his servants away and told them to come at a later time. While walking, he stopped close to a portrait. The portrait was of Caesar when he was young, along with his father, mother, and sister. Thinking of his sister, a complicated emotion rose within him.
'That traitor!'
Caesar arrived at what looked like a dining hall with a large table and seats around it. There was a fireplace close by and a chandelier on top.
'Leonard.'
A name soon entered his head. 'Leonard.' He didn't know who this name belonged to or how he knew it suddenly.
'I must have had a strange dream.'
Since he woke up, his mind hadn't been calm like it normally was; he had strange names inside and memories that came and went. It was hard to make sense of it. He shook them off as a dream, but it was too strong to ignore.
Caesar walked past the dining room and continued until he arrived in another passageway. He walked until he reached the fourth door. Twisting the handle, he opened the door. Compared to the passageway, it was dark there; there was the smell of books in the air.
Caesar walked towards a mounted candle in that room. Once he was close to one, he touched the wick of the candle with two of his fingers. Faint golden lines could be seen on his fingers where the wick was; these lines soon went to the wick, lighting the candle.
'Why is my Qi Golden?'
Caesar looked at his fingers; the disappearing golden lines could be faintly seen.
"Heh." He let out a small laugh. 'Is this what the Servant Class family has been reduced to?'
'I'm not even a Rank Four yet. To make matters worse, I have to rely on cheap tricks to raise my status.'
He punched the wall close to a candlestick. His teeth were clenched hard, threatening to break.
"Tsk, just wait," he muttered. "Why is my Qi Golden now?"
He was still curious as to why his normally black Qi was golden now. 'I've never heard of such a thing as Qi changing color happening.'
With this, he looked at what the lit candle illuminated. There were about three bookshelves, each filled with books of all types.
'Maybe I should check in one of the books on such a matter.'
With this thought, he headed to the second bookshelf. Once he was there, he searched for a book using their names.
'Laws of Qi.'
He got the book and opened it while standing.
!!!
At this moment, he opened his mouth while making an "O" shape. His eyes were wide open. The book he was holding hit the ground with a loud thud.
"Ahhhhhh!!!!"
Caesar screamed. His body felt as if it had been ripped apart and put back together.
'Until next time, Leonard.'
He remembered a conversation which happened in a place filled with darkness. A life he had once lived. A pitiful death he had experienced.
"Huff... huff."
He was on the floor panting heavily, his knees shaky.
'Caesar? Leonard? Who am I?'
Upon regaining his memories, this question creeped into his mind. Leonard had died, while Caesar hadn't, so it was natural to assume he was Caesar. But he had memories of both Caesar and Leonard and felt a personal connection with Leonard. And most importantly...
'The Witch of Time.'
Thinking of his conversation with her, he was stunned—scared, even. The most shocking thing was that he had encountered a Witch. Creatures that brought catastrophic damage to humanity, robbing it of twenty-three continents; creatures who are said to be at the pinnacle of evil. This same creature went out of its way to revive Leonard. Not only that, but she gave him a new body with powers.
This was too shocking to make sense of.
'Why did she revive me?'
The question rang in his head. Then there was Caesar—the body he was inhabiting. Who was Caesar to begin with? Was he a body the Witch made so Leonard would inhabit it one day? However, if the Witch made Caesar with the intention of Leonard possessing him, it meant that...
'She already knew of my death.'
He wasn't that surprised at the fact that a Witch claiming to be the Witch of Time knew of his death; after all, once one's time ends, death is all that remains.
'So I was destined to die and inhabit this body.'
He got back on his feet. He expected his knees to be dirty, but they weren't. Unlike his previous home, this place didn't have dirt. He extended his arm and moved his fingers. Compared to his previous body, this one had a better build as well as better health. The main difference between the two bodies was their eye color. Leonard had brown eyes, while Caesar had golden eyes.
'A Witch's favorite color.'
He spotted a chair and a table a short distance from him and headed towards them. Once he reached them, he sat on the chair with a loud, exhausted sigh.
'To summarize what happened to me: I died, then met the Witch of Time, who gave me a body as well as a unique power. The body, Caesar, seems to be that body she made for me. Caesar—the only son of the remaining Servant Class family, the same family Leonard had coincidentally once belonged to... Interesting.'
