I…
Didn't know what to do.
Somehow, my brain felt dizzy, all of my surroundings made my headache worse, second by second, and the voices seemed annoying… leaving me with no option other than putting on my headphones and listening to anything but what was happening around me.
Those people were psychopaths, because even if the company came out with a crazy inhuman thing out of sudden, who could really do it?
The line between being human and not was terribly corrupted with this and maybe three humans, at least, got killed without any specific reason other than protecting their friend or something.
Terrifying beings…
"I too, has to get out of here—"
Sials told me not to, but how could staying here help me? And if this was a Vessel of some kind then Not their conditions would hold but the Vessel conditions itself…
Plus, the 'anomalies' in that case would be us, not the real anomalies.
But still… how could they make us all enter the Vessel in one go?
Were there other ways to get into one?
"What's the point of asking anyway?"
I took out the tablet and searched for any Vessel that could somehow have the same condition as this one: lots of people, same place, but a Vessel.
I found nothing in the list the team leader gave me, so after a little hesitation, I opened the 'Old Company' files and tried to look it up there…
The old copy from the old company Vessel didn't have any information about it, so I opened the new ones from the carnival… and this one had it.
"The Lost Area Vessel…"
A Vessel in which a key could make you enter a place, same as the original, but completely different one. It could be used for more than one person.
How to get out?
Use the key at any door.
If you don't have the key?
Just get killed.
…
Yeah,
Just get killed.
The report said that one got killed in the room but opened his eyes outside of the room, not in his world, but in the other one.
"So typically, it's going from a Vessel to another Vessel…"
That didn't seem bad, somehow.
The problem was that getting killed was kind of a cruel thing to do to yourself… it would be a traumatic experience.
"So, that or having the key…"
Or waiting for two days until the anomalies would get killed.
Thinking of that again…
If an anomaly was among us and he eventually got into this Vessel with us, what would happen if he got killed?
Choice one, he would die.
Choice two, he would return to his world, since it is 'the other world' in this case.
While humans on the other side would go to the other world (other Vessel) and it's up to them to get out?
Agh—
The main problem is, this thing is information that I got from a Vessel.
So, their anomalies are us humans, and their humans are our anomalies.
And the whole equation shall get a reverse this way.
"What if it works perfectly on both sides?"
Then no one would get killed either way.
We, of course, needed to work this together, but they already began to be so violent.
I need to find Silas somehow, or to find the key.
Or, again, to wait until the two days pass.
"Then I'll lose my last weekend here…"
No,
Wait Nathan…
That, or do something to make them put an eye on me for sure this time? Of course losing a weekend wouldn't matter!
Somehow this felt like a test of some kind too, so I was being ridiculous by trying to solve it myself.
Would it be bad if I escaped this and went to another Vessel? Maybe using the invitation Louis gave me?
"Why thinking too much?"
I took a deep breath, then stood up. There were few people around the place since the majority went to the front rows and that was a good thing even if I didn't understand the reason behind it.
I put on my glasses again, the red glow was there but I ignored it and tried to find anything gold.
It wasn't anywhere around me,
Instead… the golden glow was on me.
On my belt's pocket, to be specific.
"But it's full of things."
The ring?
"Oh,"
The glove…
It was supposed to show me how to use what I couldn't use, and that was the case, right?
So I just touched the pocket, then somehow I found myself picking up a seed.
The one the child from the festival gave me… same one who showed up as the magician in the carnival—
But how could anyone use a seed?
Eat it?
Plant it?
Treat it as a pet?
"Just plant it."
It was as if it told me just to spend my time here in peace, gardening… and somehow that was better than getting involved in anything else, so I returned to the 'safe' seats and took out all my gardening things that I bought from the festival.
It took me around half an hour to finish just the set up, then when it was the time to feed it some water, it simply rejected it.
No water got into the soil as what should have happened, … water didn't do the job. The plant rejected it, every time I put it on, the water returned to the bottle.
So what?
What could a plant want to be fed?
Blood?
"Oh, nonono—"
Don't go too far, Nathan. This is not some kind of crazy movie.
Or is it?
I looked around me to make sure, again, that no one was looking, then took out a gem out of my pocket. Because I wasn't some crazy human who would feed something with his blood, the amount of craziness I did until now was enough for the rest of my life.
"Please take this at least, it's something so precious."
I didn't know what kind of situation would happen if someone saw me feed a plant with the same thing they risk their lives to have so I hurried up and hid it in the soil.
Fortunately, a small green thing showed up minute after, and that thing was growing faster and faster, shaping something similar to a Bonsai tree.
Somehow?
This was a glass tree, though.
"What could that even mean?"
The magician gave me this as an act of gratitude, maybe, but what could it even do?
Eat people?
Sing?
Doing a magical show?
"Oh, but I have this!" I looked at my new magical glove, but when I was about to touch the tree, I stopped.
What if it was something dangerous? Or its effect was something that couldn't be reversed? Or what if it wasn't something a human could have in the first place?
It was dangerous enough.
Everything related to gems and Vessels are dangerous.
"Including me—"
I, too, got gems running in my veins… should I address myself as 'dangerous' then? Even if I had no specialization or anything to begin with aside from that crazy unhelpful system?
So what?
"Let's just put it aside."
With a careful move, I put the plant on the seat beside me and just continued to look at the people who I could see from my place.
They were fighting, three or four circling around one and all the others were trying, maybe, to kill him.
Perhaps he is an anomaly, but from my point of view, he seemed like a helpless man who could even defend himself.
I put my glasses on, trying to see what was happening with full focus.
All people out there were glowing in red, except that poor man in the middle, he glowed in golden… and his face was absolutely familiar.
It took me around five minutes to rack my brain before I found myself standing up in shock—
He was the normal man who said hello when I went to the ethics office! What brings someone from that scary team here?
And why being treated as an anomaly?
Did they even know what they were doing?!
"Agh—"
Even if I played ignorant about all of this… what's up with that gold glow around him?
And why was the plant beside me glowing in the exact same shade?
"I'm completely helpless—"
I don't know what to do,
Don't know what to not do,
Don't know what was happening,
Nor what's supposed to happen.
I didn't even know where to start thinking about all of this crazy stuff.
"Maybe stop thinking is the answer."
Play ignorant,
Play ignorant,
Play ignorant.
It was always my lucky key, why did I tend to forget about it lately?
A normal human being shall act and think like a normal human being… and I was acting the opposite of this these two or three weeks.
"Yeah, just sleep." I closed my eyes and tried to get comfortable by leaning back. "This too shall pass."
Even if I did nothing, eventually it will end someho—
"Nathan!"
I sat up straight, shocked because of the sudden shout on my head.
"What?"
"Get out of there."
"What?"
"Just get out. They will be around your seat in minutes."
"Who—" I stopped, then I bent down. "They are already here."
I took my small tree and put it on the ring space before starting to go past them.
When I was finally out of that group's radar, I took a deep breath… Then, I remembered something.
Why was I hiding from them?
It's the group which has the 'anomalies finder' was…
I have no reason to hide from them…?
Then why?
I just followed Silas's command without thinking? That wasn't something I usually do…
"So what?!"
My headache was becoming more and more annoying, so I just decided to take the short way.
"Silas. Where are you?"
"In the right corner, why?"
"Wait there. I'm on my way."
If I have no idea,
The simplest way was to ask someone who has it.
