Lukas woke up slowly, his consciousness roused by a knock somewhere outside the bedroom.
He laid there for a second, waiting to see if it had been a dream or it would repeat.
Unfortunately, there was another knock again.
He groaned softly as he pushed himself up, swinging his legs off the side of the bed.
Beside him, Melody hadn't moved, still sleeping with one arm tucked under the pillow.
He left her there and pulled on a shirt, moving quietly out of the bedroom and into the living room.
Akira's door was closed as he passed it, and there was no sound from inside. She'd probably worked through most of the night on her components and had only recently gone to sleep.
He kept his footsteps light, making sure to not wake her.
There was another knock on the door.
Lukas walked across the living room to the door. There was only one person it was likely to be at this hour. He unlocked it and pulled it open.
