Chapter 11: The Boy Who Fell From the Stars

The silvery-blue tear of Sanctuary Phasing ripped open in the center of Rin's starry pocket dimension.

Nocturne didn't step through; he collapsed.

He hit the silver glass floor with a sickening thud, his long black cloak smoking, the violent crimson-gold energy of his newly mutated Quirk arcing dangerously across his fabric. The silver moth-mask, having absorbed the brunt of the kinetic blowback from the Over-Release, cracked down the middle and shattered.

"Sovereign!" Rin screamed, dropping her tablet and sprinting across the void.

Akio and Kenji were right behind her. They slid to their knees beside the towering figure, but as the shattered pieces of the mask fell away, they all froze.

Beneath the terrifying, ethereal visage of the Winged Sovereign was just a young man. He was pale, sweating profusely, dark circles bruised beneath his eyes. He looked barely older than they were. The god-like broker who had changed all of their lives was coughing up blood, his civilian body tearing itself apart from the sheer, apocalyptic strain of breaking his own Quirk's limits.

"His pulse is going crazy," Kenji panicked, his silver Knight's Vow flaring instinctively, though he didn't know how to punch a heart attack. "Akio, do something!"

"I've never pushed it this far!" Akio yelled, his hands already hovering over Rei's convulsing chest.

Akio closed his eyes and poured every single drop of his Aegis Pulse and Eternal Vitality into his hands. A blinding, golden sunburst of healing energy flooded the pocket dimension. He didn't just heal Rei's physical tears; he forced his own boundless vitality into Rei's hyper-accelerated Quirk factor, soothing the volatile crimson mutation until it settled into a steady, rhythmic hum.

Rei gasped, his back arching off the floor as his lungs finally pulled in a clean breath of air. The smoking crimson energy faded back into the familiar, calming violet of his butterfly-wing patterns.

He fell back against the silver floor, completely exhausted. He looked up at the three teenagers hovering over him. They had seen his face. The illusion was broken.

"You're... you're just a guy," Rin whispered, her eyes wide.

Rei offered a weak, self-deprecating smile. "Rei Arata. Nice to finally meet you without the theatrics."

Akio sat back on his heels, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead. "You nearly died, Rei. Whatever you just did... it almost tore you to pieces."

"It was necessary," Rei rasped, letting Kenji help him sit up. He touched his chest, feeling a new, vast reservoir of cosmic energy pooling where the one-year lock used to be. Anna's Over-Release had worked. The dam was broken. "The board is accelerating. The League of Villains is moving on the Hero Commission, and the Commission is prepping a monster to hunt us. We need a foothold inside the light. We need eyes inside UA High School."

"UA?" Kenji asked, his jaw dropping. "The most secure hero academy on the planet? Even with Rin's portals, they have a dozen Pro Heroes on staff. Eraserhead will spot us instantly."

"He won't spot us if our spy is already one of his students," Rei said, his eyes hardening with cold, strategic calculation. "There is a boy in Class 1-A. His name is Yuga Aoyama. He is already a spy. He feeds information to the League of Villains."

Rin gasped. "A UA student is working for the terrorists?!"

"Not by choice," Rei corrected, standing up slowly. His body ached, but his mind was sharper than ever. "He was born Quirkless. His parents made a deal with the devil—All For One—to give him his Navel Laser. Now, the devil holds his family hostage. Aoyama lives in constant, suffocating terror. His Quirk is defective, leaking energy and causing him physical agony, a constant reminder of his leash. I am going to cut that leash."

Rei summoned the shadows, weaving them back into a new, pristine moth-mask over his face. The Winged Sovereign returned.

"Rin," Nocturne commanded. "Get me onto the UA campus."

The dormitories of Heights Alliance were dead silent at 2:00 AM.

In a lavishly decorated room on the second floor, Yuga Aoyama was not asleep. He was sitting on the edge of his bed, clutching his stomach. His sparkling hero belt lay discarded on the floor. Without it, his navel constantly leaked faint, burning arcs of laser energy, causing a deep, nauseating ache in his gut.

But the physical pain was nothing compared to the fear.

His burner phone lay on the nightstand. The League had messaged him. They wanted the schedules for the upcoming training camp. If he gave it to them, his classmates—his friends—could die. If he didn't, All For One would slaughter his parents.

"Why..." Aoyama sobbed quietly, burying his face in his hands. "Why couldn't I just be normal? I just wanted to sparkle... without the strings."

"Strings are only meant for puppets, Yuga."

Aoyama screamed, falling backward onto his bed.

Standing in the corner of his locked room, entirely bypassing the UA security grid, was a towering figure in a black cloak. Violet butterfly wings pulsed softly in the dark.

"A villain?!" Aoyama panicked, scrambling for his hero belt. "How did you get past Hound Dog? Did... did He send you?"

"All For One sent you a defective Quirk and a lifetime of servitude," Nocturne said, his voice a mesmerizing, echoing whisper. He stepped out of the shadows, projecting a profound sense of calm that washed over the terrified boy. "I am the Winged Sovereign. And I bring you a choice."

Aoyama froze, his hands hovering over his belt. He had heard the whispers in the underworld chats he was forced to monitor. The Boogeyman. The Quirk Bestower.

"You suffer because your body was not meant to hold the power the demon forced into you," Nocturne explained, raising his gloved hand. From his palm, a sphere of deep, violet light bloomed. It coalesced into the fifth butterfly. Thanks to the mutation, the insect hummed with a fierce, concentrated, crystalline energy.

"Your desire is pure, Yuga. You want to shine. You want to protect your friends, but you lack the strength to defy your master," Nocturne whispered, the butterfly fluttering toward the boy. "I can fix the defect. I can turn the leaking light in your stomach into a supernova in your veins. But in return... you will report to me."

Aoyama stared at the glowing butterfly. "You can... you can fix me? You can make me strong enough to trick Him?"

"I accept your desire," Nocturne commanded.

The butterfly darted forward, sinking directly into Aoyama's chest.

Aoyama gasped, his back arching off the bed. The searing pain in his stomach instantly vanished. A shockwave of pure, blinding, golden-white laser energy erupted from his body, but it didn't destroy the room. It was perfectly controlled.

Aoyama looked down at his hands. The energy wasn't just in his navel anymore. It was everywhere.

He raised his palms, and two perfectly concentrated, repulsor-like beams of golden light hovered inches from his skin. He instinctively pushed the energy downward toward his feet. With a soft, humming vrrrrr, Aoyama lifted three feet off the ground, hovering effortlessly in the air.

Prismatic Flight. He didn't need the belt anymore. He was a human reactor, capable of manipulating his laser energy to fly, create localized shields, and fire precision blasts from any point on his body. He was, quite literally, a shining knight.

Aoyama landed softly on the carpet, tears of pure, unadulterated joy streaming down his face. The fear that had anchored his soul for years was gone, replaced by the humming, untouchable confidence of his new power.

He looked at Nocturne, his flamboyant smile returning, brighter and more genuine than it had ever been. He dropped to one knee, placing a hand over his heart in a perfect, theatrical bow.

"You have given me the stars, Monsieur Sovereign," Aoyama declared, his voice trembling with gratitude. "My light is yours to command. UA, the League, All For One... I will blind them all for you."

Nocturne smiled beneath his mask. Deep in his chest, the spark of Prismatic Flight nested comfortably beside the others.

"Keep your burner phone, Yuga," Nocturne ordered softly, stepping backward into a swirling portal Rin opened behind him. "Tell the League exactly what they want to hear. But when the time comes to strike... the Swarm will be waiting in the light."
