Chapter 15 - CHAPTER 15: THE HARVEST AND THE ECHO OF THE VOID

The storm had passed, but Oakhaven remained drenched in a chilling, iron-scented fog. Ren stood at the edge of the town's old pier, watching the black water swallow the moonlight. He wasn't looking for clues anymore. He was waiting for the harvest.

"Silence is the loudest confession," Ren whispered, his eyes scanning the horizon where the darkness met the sea. "They thought they could bury the truth under a mountain of administrative indifference. They thought they could starve a monster by refusing to acknowledge its hunger."

He pulled out a small, leather-bound notebook. Inside were the names of those who had tried to obstruct the light.

"30,000 words. The threshold has been breached."

Ren's voice was a low, dangerous rumble. The story was no longer a series of events; it had become a living, breathing entity. Every word was a strike, every chapter a nail in the coffin of the old order. The 2.7K eyes watching from the shadows were no longer just observers; they were witnesses to an execution.

"I gave them the chance to be partners," Ren thought, a cold, predatory light flickering in his eyes. "But they chose to be obstacles. And a genius detective doesn't negotiate with obstacles. He dismantles them."

A car engine hummed in the distance, its headlights cutting through the fog like a predator's eyes. Ren didn't turn around. He knew the harvest was coming. Whether they brought a pen to sign or a shield to hide behind, it was too late. The momentum was unstoppable.

"The clock has struck," Ren murmured, letting his cigarette ash fall into the dark water. "Oakhaven belongs to the shadows now. And the shadows… they belong to me."
