Glory is the first to realize something is deeply wrong.
The pillar of light, the white feathers, the timing, even the effect—all of it matches her Domain almost perfectly. She really had intended to activate it the moment Xingyun Liuge accelerated, using it to sap Liuge's strength and stop her from achieving her goal. But she knows one thing for certain:
She never actually activated it.
If it had truly been her Domain, the feathers would have empowered her, forming brilliant wings and boosting her speed. They should never have drained her stamina too.
While the British girls accuse her of playing dirty, Glory can only sweat and think:
What is going on?
Then the pillar of light fades.
And everyone sees Liuge's new form.
Her silver hair now shines with a brilliant white glow, as though every strand is lit from within. A light silver-white armor covers her body. At her waist hangs a silver sword in a jeweled scabbard. Most striking of all are the pure white wings unfolding behind her, holy and radiant in the wind.
For a moment, many of the girls think the same thing:
She looks like an angel descended to earth.
Glory, meanwhile, almost goes green with shock. That is her strengthened form—her Domain's visual manifestation—yet Liuge is wearing it as if it belongs to her.
The crowd has no idea what any of this means, only that Liuge has become impossibly cool and impossibly fast.
Then Liuge explodes forward.
In just over ten seconds, she tears through the field, surging from last place to third, then second. The announcer loses control again, shouting that no one can possibly stop her if she is running with this much force.
At this point, even the British girls understand the truth:
They blamed Glory unfairly.
This was Liuge's doing.
But that only makes it more frightening. How can Liuge copy Glory's Domain so perfectly that even Glory herself could barely tell what happened?
Ahead, the leader Can't Agree still runs first, but Liuge is already only half a length behind.
Now the others refuse to yield.
Kahyasi and Glory both cry out and accelerate at the same time.
Farther back, Mototo lowers her center of gravity and silently prepares herself.
In Kahyasi's and Glory's minds, the race is only half over. There is no room for despair yet.
Then both of them activate their Domains.
Glory's feather-rain descends again, slowing the others for a second time. Some girls curse her for taking revenge on the whole field, but in truth this is still fair play—she is simply using her ability in a real race. Glory even declares that she will avenge them.
Kahyasi immediately rejects that claim:
"The one who wins in the end will be us."
Then the bells of her white chalk city begin to ring.
Under that calm, solemn sound, Kahyasi accelerates again and overtakes Invincible Vanguard. Labor Force and Invincible Vanguard grit their teeth and keep charging after Liuge as well. The entire field is now staring at the same target:
the one unique figure ahead of them,
the one unique scenery at the finish line.
The announcer is fully swept away, urging every girl forward toward that one winner's view.
Liuge, however, does not even turn around.
She merely twitches her ears, listens to the footsteps behind her—
and swings an invisible chain backward.
Kahyasi feels something pass straight through her chest.
It does not hurt.
It does not sap stamina.
It does not even slow her down.
For a moment she thinks it was just her imagination.
Then she understands.
Because the air in front of the pursuing girls begins to distort.
Lines appear in empty space like cracks between bricks. They rise higher and higher, assembling themselves into the shape of a massive gate. In the blink of an eye, a vague city gate materializes right in front of them.
And that is where the chapter cuts off.
