Essence Haven had transformed into an unstoppable construction site. On one side, the Grain Silo, one of our most strategic investments, was rising rapidly as Barun and the workers broke a sweat in the snow stacking massive stone blocks. On the other side, the first stones were being laid for the Essence Infirmary, a project we fast-tracked following yesterday's accident. These two buildings rising simultaneously would both feed the belly and protect the life of our city.
However, building a structure wasn't enough; it needed someone to give it a soul. I called for Elena, the wife of one of the guards and a former healer's assistant in her old kingdom. Elena was a sharp, composed woman with steady hands. After officially announcing her as the head of the infirmary, it was time to introduce her to the most secret and miraculous part of our settlement.
I pulled the glowing Green Slime from my pocket and held it out to Elena. At first, she stepped back, not understanding what it was, but she stared in fascination when she saw the peaceful, warm light the slime emitted. I explained step by step how the slime closed wounds instantly, dried up infections, and was more effective than even the rarest potions when guided correctly. As Elena took the slime into her palm, a silent bond formed; the slime glowed safely between her fingers.
Without wasting time, I took her to Lira's botanical house. Lira, as usual, was whispering to her plants amidst the steam and green leaves. "Lira, meet Elena," I said. "Elena is the head of our infirmary. She'll need the medicinal herbs, roots, and special mixtures you grow. Together, you two will be the lifeblood of this city."
While Lira showed Elena the rare "Snow Flower" roots and pain-relieving leaves, Elena began making plans on how these plants could be combined with the slime's healing jelly. Seeing the work ethic in both of their eyes put my mind at ease for the city's future.
When I stepped outside, the view was magnificent. The sound of hammers from the rising giant silo on one side, and the stone walls of the infirmary being laid on the other... Eliz came and took my hand. We weren't just building a shelter anymore; we were building an unshakable, self-sufficient fortress with its own food, army, and healthcare.
