Chapter 163: Kill All the Monkeys
Click.
The crisp sound of a metal tab being pulled open rang out from the edge of the silent woods.
But Suguru Geto heard nothing.
He was already trapped inside a feverish obsession, deaf to the world around him.
His bloodshot eyes stared fixedly at Yuki Tsukumo, as if he were waiting for a final judgment, something that could drag him out of the endless abyss or push him in completely.
"Kill all…"
Yuki's expression paused.
"All non sorcerers?"
For a brief moment, her usual carefree laziness froze.
As a Special Grade Sorcerer, she had traveled around the world. She had seen brutal Cursed Spirits, twisted Curse Users, and all kinds of rotten things hidden beneath society's surface.
But she had not expected a student from Tokyo Jujutsu High, someone the higher ups had always regarded as obedient and principled, to suggest genocide in such a calm voice.
Worse, there was relief in his tone.
The wind seemed to stop.
Even the cicadas fell silent, as if some invisible pressure had crushed their cries.
Then Yuki burst out laughing.
"Hahaha! Ahahaha!"
Her laughter echoed across the empty training ground, wild and unrestrained.
Geto's brows tightened.
His hands clenched without him noticing.
"Senior Yuki."
His voice was low.
Dangerously low.
"Do you think my idea is ridiculous?"
If even Yuki Tsukumo, the person who had proposed causal treatment, denied him here, then the last fragile wall of logic he had built over the past few days would collapse completely.
"Ridiculous?"
Yuki finally stopped laughing.
She straightened up, raised one finger, and shook it lightly.
"No. Not ridiculous at all."
Her amber eyes flickered with a dangerous light.
"Geto, do you know what you just said?"
She took a step forward, leaned closer, and lowered her voice.
"Theoretically speaking, that is indeed the most effective and thorough form of causal treatment."
Boom.
Those words became the final weight crushing the psychological defense Geto had barely rebuilt through Yami's special training.
Like a devil's whisper, they slipped into the cracks of his heart.
"The most effective…"
Geto muttered softly.
"Causal treatment…"
His hollow eyes slowly began to fill with fanatic light.
"Yes…"
His breathing quickened.
"That's right."
"As long as there are no more monkeys creating Cursed Spirits…"
His voice trembled.
"As long as only Jujutsu Sorcerers remain in this world…"
His fingers dug into his palms.
"Then no more companions will have to sacrifice themselves."
His eyes darkened.
"And tragedies like Riko's will never happen again."
Yuki watched Geto sink deeper into self hypnosis.
She did not interrupt him.
Like a cold observer, she continued speaking, her words sharp and inflammatory.
"Geto, humans are always used to pushing problems onto others. Jujutsu Sorcerers, meanwhile, are taught to shoulder those problems themselves."
"The rotten oranges up top tell you every day to protect the weak."
She tilted her head.
"But what exactly are the weak?"
Yuki suddenly turned and pointed toward the distant heart of Tokyo.
"Are they the ordinary people who enjoy your protection while constantly leaking Cursed Energy through greed, jealousy, hatred, and fear?"
Her gaze returned to him.
"Or are they Jujutsu Sorcerers like you, who force yourselves to the edge of collapse every day, swallowing Cursed Spirit Orbs that taste like vomit?"
Geto's body trembled.
Yuki's words struck with cruel accuracy, tearing open the festering wound buried deep inside him.
The nausea of swallowing Cursed Spirit Orbs.
The ugly cheers of the Star Religious Group.
The image of Riko Amanai's fate, drowned in blood and applause.
Everything was feeding the demon in his heart.
"So, which will you choose?"
Yuki's voice lowered.
"To keep serving as a tool for the higher ups, protecting those ugly monkeys through endless exorcisms?"
She stared straight into Geto's eyes.
"Or to sever the source completely and create a true paradise that belongs only to Jujutsu Sorcerers?"
Her tone became quiet.
"This does not depend on the higher ups' orders."
"It does not depend on any so called correct principle."
Yuki raised her finger and gently tapped Geto's chest.
"It depends on your true feelings."
True feelings.
Those words struck Geto's soul like a hammer.
His breathing grew rapid.
His chest rose and fell violently.
Black Cursed Energy spilled uncontrollably from his body, thick and boiling, twisting through the air like asphalt under heat.
"A paradise…"
Geto slowly raised his hands.
His gaze fell on his palms, hardened by years of combat and stained by countless swallowed curses.
"A paradise that belongs only to Jujutsu Sorcerers…"
His eyes became cold.
Fanatical.
Empty of the gentleness he once carried.
"Yes."
His voice was quiet.
"I've had enough."
"I don't want to protect those monkeys anymore."
Geto lifted his head.
In his narrow eyes, the kindness of the past had vanished, replaced by a pure desire to destroy.
"I will…"
Just as the vow that would cast him completely into the abyss was about to leave his mouth, the air around them changed.
Buzz!
The temperature rose at a terrifying speed.
The already humid summer air seemed to ignite at once, turning the training ground into an invisible furnace.
Yuki's expression changed.
She turned sharply toward the shadows of the nearby woods.
That pressure.
Even as a Special Grade Sorcerer, she felt a pulse of danger from it.
It swept toward them like a burning tide.
"Who's there?"
Boom!
No answer came.
What responded was a dark red streak of light tearing through the air like a falling meteor.
A long blade.
A dark red blade burning with overwhelming heat, as if it could burn every sin in the world to ash.
The blade fell from above with a piercing sonic boom and slammed into the grass between Yuki Tsukumo and Suguru Geto.
Bang!
The hard ground exploded into a deep crater.
Terrifying heat burst outward from the blade's center, burning the grass within ten meters into black ash.
The violent shockwave scattered the black Cursed Energy leaking from Geto's body.
Even Yuki had to raise her arm to block the scorching wave of air.
Then a slender, upright figure landed lightly from above.
He stepped onto the hilt of the blade burning with dark red light and looked down at them.
In one hand, he still held a slightly deformed can of iced soda.
"It seems I only took my eyes off you two for a moment…"
Yami's face was calm.
But in his deep black eyes, a rage burned hotter than Shiranui.
"And you've already started discussing how to destroy the world."
