Chapter 36 - Chapter 29 — High Archon Kael Starwyn

Far above Earth, beyond the layered orbital lanes and defense platforms, a massive structure floated in silent stillness.

The Starwyn Citadel.

It did not resemble any conventional station. Vast concentric rings rotated slowly around a central spire, each movement perfectly controlled. Soft bands of cosmic energy shimmered between the rings, bending light as gravitational fields shifted and stabilized the structure.

The Citadel did not orbit.

It anchored itself in space.

A monument to precision.

To control.

To power.

Inside, the atmosphere felt different from anywhere else. Quiet filled the corridors. Soft illumination traced clean architectural lines, and every movement within the Citadel carried purpose.

At the highest level, a vast observation chamber overlooked the stars.

The curved glass stretched across the entire wall, revealing the expanse of space. Distant starfields shimmered faintly, while Earth rotated slowly far below, its surface illuminated in soft blues and whites.

Standing before the glass was High Archon Kael Starwyn.

His hands rested behind his back, posture relaxed but composed. His gaze remained fixed on the stars, his expression calm and unreadable.

The chamber remained silent.

Until footsteps approached from behind.

"High Archon."

Kael did not turn.

"Report."

The figure stopped several steps behind him.

A projection activated.

Holographic data formed in the air, shifting slowly as files loaded. Academy insignias appeared, followed by deployment records, medical summaries, and tactical assessments.

"Academy deployment anomaly," the officer began. "Gamma Squad separated during planetary assignment. Communications lost for twelve hours."

Kael's gaze shifted slightly.

"Unknown planet?"

"Yes, High Archon. Classification unregistered."

Kael remained silent.

"Continue."

The projection shifted.

"God-tier entity encountered."

That drew his full attention.

"Cadets?" Kael asked quietly.

"Yes, High Archon."

The projection shifted again.

Images appeared one by one.

Lucian Bloodthrone.

Nyra Valecrest.

Mira Solen.

June Kade.

Castiel Nightvale.

Then—

David Wyn

Kael's gaze settled on the final image.

The projection expanded.

Combat summaries appeared.

Movement tracking.

Survival data.

"Leadership during engagement attributed primarily to David Wyn," the officer continued. "Defensive positioning allowed squad retreat. Survival probability increased significantly following his actions."

Kael studied the image quietly.

"Wyn," he said softly.

"Yes, High Archon."

"Background."

"Limited records. Independent explorer parents. No Great Family affiliation."

Kael remained silent.

The stars reflected faintly in his eyes.

"Names."

The officer glanced down briefly.

"Parents listed as Dorian Wyn and Lyra Wyn."

For the first time—

Kael moved.

It was subtle.

Barely noticeable.

But his posture stiffened slightly.

The officer continued reading, unaware.

"Independent explorers. Both listed as deceased. Records incomplete."

Kael's gaze remained forward.

But something had changed.

The name lingered in the air.

Dorian.

Lyra.

A faint tightening formed in Kael's jaw before it disappeared just as quickly.

His voice remained calm.

"Continue."

"Yes, High Archon."

The projection shifted again.

"Survived direct engagement with God-tier entity. Sustained injuries. Continued combat capability. Held defensive line during retreat."

Silence filled the chamber.

Kael stepped forward slightly.

The projection adjusted automatically.

"Wyn…"

The name lingered again.

His expression remained composed, but his eyes narrowed slightly.

The officer continued.

"Further analysis indicates above-average adaptability. Tactical awareness beyond expected cadet level."

Kael remained still.

Then quietly—

"Increase monitoring."

"Yes, High Archon."

The officer hesitated slightly.

"Recruitment consideration?"

Kael did not answer immediately.

He looked out toward the stars again.

Earth rotated slowly below.

"...Not yet," he said calmly.

"Understood."

The projection shifted again briefly, displaying additional academy information.

"Other notable cadets include Lucian Bloodthrone and Castiel Nightvale."

Kael gave a faint nod.

"Expected."

The projection faded.

The chamber returned to silence.

The officer stepped back.

Kael remained standing before the stars.

For a long moment, he said nothing.

Then quietly—

"Full background analysis."

The officer paused.

"On Wyn?"

"Yes."

"Immediately, High Archon."

The officer exited.

The chamber fell silent again.

Kael remained still, watching the stars.

The names echoed quietly in his thoughts.

Dorian.

Lyra.

His expression remained calm.

Controlled.

But behind that calm—

Interest had turned into something else.

Far below—

The academy prepared for final exams.

And for the first time—

High Archon Kael Starwyn was no longer simply observing.
