Chapter 17 - Chapter 17:The first Strike

The message lingered in Tyland's mind, but it no longer carried the same weight.

We are watching.

Good.

That was exactly what he wanted.

Tyland slipped the phone back into his pocket and turned toward the exit. "We move now."

Elara frowned slightly. "Move where?"

Tyland didn't slow down. "To break something they care about."

Kael followed, his tone skeptical. "You still don't know what that is."

Tyland stepped out into the night, the city stretching before them burning in places, restless everywhere. "Then we make them show us."

Silence.

Because that wasn't a plan built on certainty.

It was built on pressure.

Minutes later, they were moving through the city fast, cutting through back routes and side streets. Tyland's mind was already several steps ahead, mapping out possibilities, patterns, weaknesses.

"They monitor everything connected to us," Elara said as she kept pace. "Calls, locations, movements."

Tyland nodded. "Then we give them something loud enough they can't ignore."

Kael glanced at him. "You're about to start something you can't control."

Tyland's voice was steady. "That's the point."

They stopped in front of a heavily guarded compound.

Tall gates.

Armed security.

Reinforced walls.

Elara's eyes narrowed. "This isn't one of ours."

Tyland shook his head slightly.

"No," he said. "It's one of theirs."

Kael's expression shifted. "How do you know that?"

Tyland looked at the building, his gaze sharp. "Because it wasn't there before," he said. "And now it's too protected to be random."

A pause.

Then Kael smiled faintly. "You're guessing."

Tyland didn't deny it.

"I'm testing," he corrected.

Before either of them could respond

Tyland moved.

Fast.

Decisive.

He stepped forward, pulling his weapon and firing a single shot at the gate lock. The sound shattered the quiet instantly, echoing across the street like a signal.

Alarms went off.

Lights flared on.

Voices shouted from inside.

Chaos

But this time

They started it.

"Tyland!" Elara snapped, but she was already moving with him.

Kael followed, a grin forming despite himself. "This is insane," he muttered.

They pushed through the gate just as it gave way, entering the compound as guards rushed toward them. The first wave didn't stand a chance Tyland moved with precision, every shot controlled, every step calculated.

But he wasn't aiming to win the fight.

He was aiming to be seen.

"Make noise," he said sharply.

Elara didn't hesitate, taking down another guard as Kael covered the flank. Within seconds, the entire compound was in motion sirens blaring, lights flashing, security scrambling.

And somewhere

Watching.

Tyland paused in the center of it all, his eyes scanning, waiting.

"Nothing?" Kael shouted over the noise.

Tyland didn't answer.

Because he felt it.

A shift.

Not in the building.

In the game.

Another vibration.

Tyland reached for his phone again, pulling it out mid-chaos.

A message.

This time

Different.

"Interesting."

Tyland's lips curved slightly.

Elara saw it. "What is it?"

He showed her.

Kael let out a low breath. "You got their attention."

Tyland looked up, his eyes darker than ever.

"No," he said.

A beat.

Then

"They just made their first mistake."

Another message came through instantly.

"You're closer than you think."

Silence hit harder than the gunfire.

Because that wasn't a warning.

It was an invitation.

And suddenly

This wasn't just about being watched anymore.

They were being guided.

Straight into something much bigger.
