Chapter 7 - The Conversation That Wasn't Meant To happen

That night, he sat at the table, but his presence felt distant, even to himself. The food was in front of him , untouched for a while, as if he had forgotten why he was even there. His mind wasn't in the room.. it was something else, stuck on a moment that never fully happened.

" Everything okay?" Someone asked, their voice cutting through the silence .

He looked up briefly, expression calm, almost blank." Yeah.... Just tired." A simple answer, enough to avoid more questions. He picked up the spoon, forced a few bites, not out of hunger but out of habit.. just to complete what was expected.

Once done, he stood up quietly and walked to his room without another word. But this time, the silence didn't feel like control.

It felt... unsettled.

The next morning, something had changed. He didn't just step out (he prepared). Not in a way anyone else would notice, but enough for himself to know that this wasn't ordinary. His clothes were chosen with thoughts , his steps more certain, and his mind already set on one thing-- today, he would speak. He reached the same place, the same path, the same quiet space where everything had begun to shift.

And there she was... Exactly where she had been before like nothing had changed. He walked towards her, steady but aware , every step carrying a silent intention. He stopped close enough... The moment finally in front of him but the words didn't come . Not because he didn't have anything to say,but because everything suddenly felt unnecessary.. like the silence between them was saying more than words ever could. Before he could try again, she turned and walked away, just like before.

This time, he didn't follow. He stood still for a second.. then slowly turned back, almost convincing himself that maybe this was never meant to happen.

But just as he reached the end of the street--"excuse me"... The voice stopped him. He turned, and there she was, closer than ever, looking directly at him. For a moment, everything went quiet.

" You dropped this"

She said, holding something small in her hand. He looked at it , then back at her.

" I didn't". She tilted her head, a faint, unreadable smile forming. " I know ". And still, she placed it in his hand before walking past him, disappearing into the crowd once again.

He stood there, staring at the object. It wasn't his and was sure about that . Then Whyy did it feels like... It was meant for him?

And more importantly... Why did it feels like she knew something he didn't?
