Chapter 14 - Quiet Rebellion

The next morning, Seo Yoon woke to the familiar weight of the house pressing down on her. Her parents' anger was still in the air, lingering like smoke from a fire.

But something had changed. She didn't feel quite as small. Not entirely.

At breakfast, she set the table carefully, but with a small act she had never dared before: she left a tiny piece of cake for herself, hiding it in the corner of the counter. It was insignificant, almost laughable—but it was hers. A small victory.

When her father snapped at her for being slow, she didn't flinch. She kept her voice calm, answering politely, but her mind was sharp, calculating. She was learning to move through the storm without letting it consume her.

At school, she started carrying her notebook everywhere, jotting down thoughts, sketches, and secret plans. The words she wrote weren't for anyone but herself—an unseen world where she could be free, angry, hopeful, and clever all at once.

That night, when her mother raged at her for a spilled cup, Seo Yoon didn't cry. Instead, she breathed slowly, counting each inhale and exhale. Inside, she whispered a promise: This is mine. My mind, my choices, my life. No one can touch this.

Even as the house continued to shake with anger, Seo Yoon began to feel something she hadn't felt in years: control. It wasn't complete, not yet. But for the first time, she understood that strength didn't always roar. Sometimes, it whispered.

And in that quiet whisper, Seo Yoon found the beginning of her rebellion.
