The Tortoise and the Hare
(Aesop's Fable)
One day, a Hare was boasting about how fast he could run.
"I have never been beaten in a race," he said proudly. "When I run, I leave everyone behind."
A slow-moving Tortoise overheard him and said calmly,
"I challenge you to a race."
The animals around them burst into laughter.
"You?" the Hare laughed loudly. "Race me? This will be the easiest victory of my life!"
Still, he agreed.
The Fox was chosen as the judge, and the race began.
The Hare shot forward like an arrow. Within seconds, he was far ahead of the Tortoise.
Looking back and seeing the Tortoise slowly crawling along, the Hare laughed.
"He's so slow! I have plenty of time."
Feeling overconfident, the Hare decided to rest under a tree.
"I'll take a quick nap," he thought. "I can still win easily."
Meanwhile, the Tortoise kept moving.
Step by step.
Slowly but steadily.
Without stopping.
The Hare fell into a deep sleep.
When he finally woke up, he stretched lazily and looked toward the finish line.
To his shock, he saw the Tortoise just a few steps away from winning!
The Hare ran as fast as he could.
But it was too late.
The Tortoise crossed the finish line first.
The forest erupted in cheers.
The proud Hare had lost to the slow and steady Tortoise.
And from that day on, everyone remembered the lesson:
Slow and steady wins the race.
✨ Moral: Consistency and determination are more powerful than speed and arrogance.
