Chapter 3 - The Awakening (Part 2)

The Awakening of Barry

Barry slowly opened his eyes, his body aching and his head foggy. As he regained consciousness, his voice came out weak and stuttering.

"W-why am I here?" he asked, confused.

His parents, sitting anxiously at his bedside, leaned in with relief and explained everything that had happened. Barry listened carefully, trying to piece together the fragments of memory. After they finished, he furrowed his brow in confusion.

"How was I struck by lightning?" he thought. "It didn't feel like I was hit directly..."

A sudden, inexplicable urge filled him.

"What time is it?" Barry asked, turning toward his parents. His mother: "Don't you want to rest more or do you want to eat something." "Let's put those things aside for now. Can you please tell me the time, Mom? Dad?" he says to his parents.

His father reached into his pocket to check his phone. But to his surprise, the screen remained black.

"That's strange... my phone's dead," he muttered. "I clearly remember it was fully charged at the party."

His mother, puzzled, pulled out her phone. Her expression turned to disbelief.

"Mine too... It was fully charged as well."

They both looked at each other, baffled by how both phones had lost power.

"Barry, for now, just rest and focus on getting better, and want to eat something." his mother said gently.

Barry replied: " I am not hungry. So, I will just rest for now."

With that, she led Barry's father out of the room, leaving him alone to rest.

Barry looked around the room, trying to make sense of everything. His gaze fell on the wall clock in front of him. It wasn't moving.

"Why isn't the clock working? Is the battery dead too?" he wondered. "Strange… Maybe I shouldn't think about this right now. I should rest."

He rolled to his left side, hoping to sleep. But then he noticed the monitor screen nearby—it was flickering erratically, as if the electric current wasn't flowing properly.

"Why is every electronic device acting weird?" Barry thought. A strange idea occurred to him—what if he was somehow controlling the flow of electricity?

Driven by a sudden impulse, he stared at the ceiling light and stretched his right hand toward it. To his astonishment, tiny sparks of electricity began to flicker from his fingertips. He concentrated harder—and with a zap, the bulb flickered and turned on.

Barry's eyes widened in amazement. A shout of excitement almost escaped him, but he quickly calmed himself down.

Eager to experiment, Barry began testing his newfound abilities. He pulled energy from the monitor and restored it. He directed electricity into the wall clock, watching it tick to life. With each successful attempt, his excitement grew.

Then suddenly he noticed something else—he could hear distant sounds with crystal clarity. Voices from the floors above and below drifted into his ears: conversations, footsteps, murmurs in the hallway.

"My hearing... it's sharper," he realized.

He turned to the window, peering outside. His eyes locked onto a sign down the street—and a white cat sitting next to it, yawning lazily on a bench.

"Even my vision… It's enhanced."

Barry couldn't believe what was happening. Not only did he have powers over electricity, but his senses had also become superhuman.

Just then, footsteps approached the door. Barry quickly lay back and pretended to sleep.

A nurse entered quietly with his medication. He sat up, took the pills, and lay down again. His mind raced with excitement, but his body needed rest.

Two or three days later, Barry was discharged from the hospital and returned home. Nothing would ever be the same again. Something extraordinary had awakened within him—and he was only just beginning to discover what it truly meant.

Scene Shift: Steve – Before the Lightning struck to Barry

In another part of the city, Steve sat at his desk, fingers moving across the keyboard. He was a skilled web developer, usually focused—but today, his mind was elsewhere.

"Barry finished three days' worth of work in just four hours," he thought, eyebrows furrowed. "If he worked here, our load would be halved... But knowing him, he probably did that out of boredom. He doesn't really like working."

He was lost in thought when his colleague tapped him on the shoulder.

"Wake up, Steve! You're typing gibberish," his friend said.

Steve blinked and looked at the screen. Sure enough, his code was a mess.

"Sorry… I blanked out."

"You've been overworking. Go take a walk—get some air."

"You're right," Steve agreed. "Maybe it'll help me clear my head."

Steve stepped out of the office and wandered through the streets, deep in thought, still contemplating whether to invite Barry to join with them or not.

Without realizing it, he walked into a narrow alley between two buildings. A black van screeched to a stop beside him. Before Steve could react, masked men jumped out and grabbed him.

A cloth was forced over his mouth, and he was thrown into the van. Inside, five kidnappers held him down as he struggled.

One of them injected something into his neck.

Then they tide Steve by both hands and legs.

Steve tries to forcefully move and loss the rope but after some time, a kidnapper get enough of Steve and punches him. Then the one in charge said: " Hey, don't bully the kid. Let me talk." Then with a sinister grin he said: " Hey kid, you know you're lucky for us… but unlucky for yourself."

Another kidnapper chuckled. "Boss, why bother talking to him?"

"It's fun," the boss said, "He's going to die anyway. Or should I say... become an experimental rat."

Steve's eyes widened.

"Don't panic yet. Want to know why you were chosen?" the boss said. "Because of your father."

Steve froze.

"You're the son of a big businessman. And you know how it goes—big enemies, big problems. One of his rivals paid us to kill you."

Steve's world shattered.

"But just when we were planning to off you, we got a better deal," the boss continued. "Someone wanted a young subject for experiments. Why not make money from both sides, right?"

Steve, growing weaker from the injection, faded into unconsciousness.

The Experiment

Steve awoke in a large, dome-shaped lab. His wrists were bound by metallic cuffs. Scientists in white coats walked around, ignoring his pleases for help.

Then a beeping alarm sounded.

"Prepare for the experiment," one scientist announced.

Robotic arms emerged, injecting Steve with a strange green serum.

"Begin radiation exposure," said the lead scientist.

Machines hummed as radiation levels rose. Steve started sweating, feeling an intense heat build around him.

"Seal the subject!" a command echoed.

A plastic containment unit descended toward him—but a small LEGO brick was accidentally included with the material. But scientist didn't care as they think it won't be a problem to the experiment.

Suddenly, disaster struck.

A clumsy scientist spilled coffee on the radiation control panel. Alarms blared as radiation levels skyrocketed.

"You fool!" the head scientist yelled. "If we fail, he'll kill us all!"

Inside the chamber, Steve screamed as pain consumed him. His body felt like it was melting. Just when it seemed death was certain, his DNA began to mutate. His body absorbed the radiation instead of being destroyed by it.

Then—BOOM!

A blast cracked the upper dome. Smoke and debris scattered.

Steve's cuffs snapped off.

He stood, bloodied but alive.

The Awakening of Steve

Steve looked around, dazed and came to his knees because of dizziness. He spotted the hole in the ceiling—but it was too high to reach.

"If only I had a ladder," he thought.

Suddenly, the floor and walls from his hands around him started transforming into LEGO bricks and built a staircase leading to the opening.

The scientists gasped.

"He's manipulating matter…!" one of them whispered.

"IT WORKED!" another shouted.

But when they saw Steve climbing the ladder, panic set in.

"He's escaping! STOP HIM!"

The same kidnappers rushed to block him.

Steve felt strange. One of them lunged—and Steve pushed him aside effortlessly, sending him crashing into a wall.

He stared at his hands. "I'm... not normal anymore."

Four more men came at him. Steve grinned and fought back, stronger than ever. He constructed walls of LEGO to trap his enemies, and even made a LEGO sword to disarm them.

Gunfire erupted as guards entered. Steve blocked every bullet with LEGO barriers.

The head scientist screamed, "SHOOT HIM! DON'T LET HIM ESCAPE!"

But Steve leaped toward them, cutting off all exits with walls of bricks.

He stood over them, smiling darkly.

"Thanks for the powers," he said. "But pain comes with a price. Consider this your lesson—never experiment on innocent people again."

He beat them down—not fatally—but enough to make his point.

Then, he escaped through the rooftop hole and looked out at the horizon.

The Return Home of Steve

Steve finally arrived home because of a police man, he found him walking on streets. His parents rushed to him in a panic.

"Where were you? Were you kidnapped?" his mother cried.

"Some men tried to grab me," Steve lied, "but I got away and was hiding and when I got chance, I ran away. I didn't want to become a problem to you both."

His father scolded him for not calling the police, but Steve reassured them.

"Don't worry, Dad. No one's going to touch me again."

Then he fell their. His parents were panicked but quickly relax as Steve was just sleeping because of tiredness. They took him to his room and let him alone for rest.

Later that night, Steve sat in his room, staring at his hands.

"Who were those scientists? Who hired them? And who's the one they were afraid of?"

His eyes narrowed.

"There's a lot I don't know about this world… but I'm not powerless anymore."

At the same time, across the city, Barry lay in his bed, staring at the ceiling.

"I can control electricity... My senses are enhanced. I'm no longer just a guy doing nothing. I have powers now that I wanted."

Then, in perfect unison, Barry and Steve raised their right hands.

Barry and Steve (in their rooms):

"Now I am part of a different type of society and I will become a new hero in this world of super humans."
