Thankfully, there was a person who could replace me to succeed the title. My mother’s second younger brother, that is, my uncle.
“All I wish is for you to lead a happy life. Do whatever you would like. You can marry whoever you want as well….”
It was my tender-hearted father’s habit to say such things every time he saw me so weak and feeble: that I should do whatever I want.
He seemed somewhat sorry that he could not give me the right to the family title, but it wasn’t like I couldn’t understand why. Besides, I never wanted that position. It was embarrassing to be called a baron in such a tiny barony. And to top it off, the barony was tucked away in some remote corner of the continent.
