Chapter 219 - Chapter 219: Demons and Aspects

Caleb had originally wanted to take that sword and shield away.

But after glancing beyond the gate and seeing that the Aspect of the Sun was still there, he could only put them down reluctantly.

Besides, taking a girl's things the moment he saw her would probably lower his image in Kai'Sa's eyes by another level.

"You dealt with her?"

Atreus was slightly surprised. After all, this was the real power descended from the Aspect of the Sun.

Calling her the sun's living vessel was truly not wrong at all.

Yet Atreus, his body filled with the colored starlight of Aspect power, now saw Leona already lying on the ground.

He had originally thought these people had come up here to try their luck and see whether any Aspect would take a liking to them.

But judging from this, all of them had truly come here for the same reason he had, to cross beyond the gate.

"Are you ready?"

Pantheon's voice turned low.

What exactly were the Aspects doing on the other side of the gate? Why did they ignore the mortal world when it was suffering so terribly?

And why had the Aspect of the Sun been able to monopolize power and develop the Solari into the largest order across the entire Mount Targon region?

All of this could only be discovered by going beyond the gate.

But when Pantheon stepped through it, what greeted him was an even more shocking sight.

Countless ravens rampaged among the stars, and in the starry sky, a figure in the shape of a little girl with long hair was darting back and forth between the constellations.

"What the hell is going on?"

After Caleb entered and saw the chaos before him, he was confused too.

Since when did Swain have this kind of ability?

"No… It should be another raven."

Caleb could not help remembering that night when he faced the arrival of nightmares.

"Ten kings, ten thrones?"

"Nine crowns… upon nine heads…"

"Open the curtain!"

Amid the ravens' violent cries, a voice Caleb was extremely familiar with rang out.

"Damn, Nocturne is here too?"

In his previous life, whenever Caleb's vision fell into darkness, he would panic and run home without thinking.

Now he had power that could stand up to Nocturne, but he still felt somewhat uneasy.

This was a power that could turn an entire region dark, and it could even track Zoe as she kept jumping between the stars.

"What is this situation? Demons and Aspects are fighting?"

Caleb had heard a little about demons. During the Rune Wars, demons had reached the peak of their strength by feeding on negative emotions.

As things slowly stabilized afterward, the demons' power had also slowly weakened.

Facing this situation, Caleb and the others fell silent for a moment.

"If I eat you, my strength should recover, shouldn't it?"

After a voice came from nowhere, ripples spread beneath Caleb's feet.

Without the slightest hesitation, Caleb used Arcane Shift and flashed aside.

A massive tongue lashed toward Caleb like a flexible whip.

It seemed the demons also knew that anyone capable of coming here would be no ordinary opponent.

Caleb did not think twice. Youmuu's Wraithblade entered his hand, and he cut that massive tongue off with one slash.

"Tahm? I didn't expect to run into you here."

The ground beneath their feet was limited, and for the sake of the others' safety, Atreus did not recklessly join the battle.

"Can you still fight in conditions like this, where there's almost no air?"

Caleb lowered his voice and asked by Kai'Sa's ear.

"No problem."

Kai'Sa blinked mischievously.

Caleb looked at Zoe, who was still entangled with several demons, and felt lucky that Aatrox had not come.

If he had come, then given Aatrox's record of killing Pantheon, the Aspect of War, Zoe would be measured by the piece right now.

However, Caleb stood firmly on the ground and did not rush into the battle in a panic for the time being.

Demons were the negativity in people's hearts, and the Twilight of the Demons was something led by the Aspect of Twilight.

Just like the Twilight of the Darkin after that war that blotted out the sky and sun.

But it seemed the demons knew that just waiting like this would not work, so they had taken the initiative to come to Mount Targon and start a war?

That still did not make sense.

Logically speaking, it was normal for demons to feel hungry. After all, the "food" each demon ate was different.

What Tahm needed was gluttony, while Raum, the one inhabiting Swain, needed to peer into secrets unknown to others.

Then, thinking back to the song Caleb had heard before, he made a bold guess.

Of the ten "king" demons, one of their "crowns" had probably been stolen by the Aspect of Twilight.

That would explain why the demons were currently hunting the Aspect of Twilight nonstop.

They were probably trying to retrieve the "crown" and delay the demons' "twilight" as much as possible.

Even the Darkin, powerful as they were, had been sealed away by humans and Aspects together after the war. More specifically, the Aspects had provided the method to seal the Darkin.

However, that had been the achievement of the previous Aspect of Twilight. The current Aspect of Twilight, Zoe, was trying to cast the final light upon the entire race of demons.

"Strange. Why is only one person fighting?"

Yuumi's words also reminded Caleb of something. If the Aspects were so powerful, why did they need mortals as vessels?

Caleb struggled to raise his head, searching for the answer among the stars.

In an age before humanity was born, the Targonians had already offered a crown to the dragon king who forged planets.

It was also this so-called "crown" that allowed the Targonians to constantly steal knowledge from the dragon king's mind and gain almost endless power.

After that, only Mount Targon was left behind as their base on Runeterra. As for those Aspects?

Caleb guessed that maybe they really had gone off among the constellations.

"Give back the power you stole from me!"

As if answering Caleb's guess, an angry roar immediately echoed among the stars.

"What?"

Caleb vaguely remembered hearing this voice in the Black Mist.

When an Aspect descended with its strongest power, it would seize the will of the body's original owner.

That was how Pantheon had descended upon Runeterra.

However, he later died in battle against the Darkin Aatrox.

He had died completely. His soul had been carried to the celestial realm by the Starry Spirit Fox and turned into part of its dark constellation.

Later, under Viego's Black Mist, Pantheon's soul had returned by a strange twist of fate, but not long after, Atreus had regained control over his body.

Now that he had reappeared in front of him, how could this not be an opportunity?

A ray of starlight shot rapidly toward Atreus. It seemed this guy still had not given up on the idea of returning to the world.

"Let's deal with that guy whose length, width, and height are all the same first."

After giving that instruction, Caleb continued cutting.

Even with the attack speed bonus from Hail of Blades, plus the efforts of Electrocute, Tahm's thick hide truly was not something that could be dealt with in a short time.

Mana surged beside Caleb. In the place where the Aspects lived, runic energy was even denser, and Manaflow Band poured even more runes into Caleb.

The magic energy rushing through his body rose even further. Moving at high speed, Caleb finally cut through Tahm's hide, but the other party opened his huge mouth and was about to swallow him.
