Chapter 222 - Chapter 222: The Way Back

"They still got away in the end?"

Caleb was not too surprised by that result.

Nocturne was a rather special existence among demons, and Fiddlesticks was the first of demons.

Nocturne's figure grew increasingly illusory as he left, while Fiddlesticks could release fewer and fewer crows.

"You all seem to be mortals?"

Only now did Zoe finally bring everyone into her field of vision.

"You only just noticed?"

Caleb was a little annoyed, but facing the Aspect of Twilight, even if he had to be polite, he still had to at least make a show of it.

"No… wait. This is… an Aspect's power?"

Zoe's face was like a child's, flashing with a crafty gleam.

"Yep. Let's talk about changing who calls the shots across Mount Targon outside, shall we?"

Caleb also wore a polite smile, but he had already clenched a rune in his hand, ready to fire an Arcane Comet at Zoe and trade blows with her at any moment.

After his body had been strengthened, Caleb could hold even more magical energy.

The bigger the vessel, the more it could hold. Together with the recovery from Manaflow Band, Caleb could now be said to use the smallest comets without any cost.

However, when facing an Aspect, Caleb still felt very uncertain inside.

After all, this was the one-of-a-kind top tier of power in Runeterra.

Unlike the Darkin and the Ascended, who had basically gone extinct, aside from changing hosts, the Aspects' power had almost not weakened at all over all these years.

Kayle, worshiped by Demacia, was the Aspect of Justice.

The Aspect of War, Pantheon, had already gone to the dark constellation, planning to wait for a chance to reclaim his power.

The Aspect of Twilight, Zoe, stood before everyone now.

The Aspect of the Sun ruled most regions of Mount Targon.

And the Aspect of the Moon quietly handled the Void in the deep sea near Mount Targon.

There were also Soraka and Taric, two Aspects who leaned more toward protection and healing.

Judging from their roles alone, the Aspects each had their own duties, and they looked incredibly powerful.

But because of all kinds of reasons, they had instead split apart.

Needless to say, the Solari and the Lunari were basically synonymous with sworn enemies.

No one knew where Kayle had gone. Maybe if one went to Demacia, they could find her sister, Morgana, and ask.

Zoe could be called a model worker. This time, while dealing with the demons, she had also thrown a Paddle Star at Atreus while she was at it.

Luckily, Caleb had brought everyone into hiding. Otherwise, even if he could have kept those teammates alive, they would at least have had to climb the slope all over again.

"And after he takes charge, of course he'll return power to the mortals."

As Caleb spoke, he had already lowered his body slightly.

The Aspect of Twilight naturally understood what he meant. If persuasion failed, then there was only one road left, violence.

But she had just finished fighting the demons, and she was also alone right now.

"Sure."

Zoe's long hair floated freely, drifting through this universe at will.

"Tch. You still didn't let your guard down?"

Although Zoe could understand Caleb's thinking, she at least had this baby face.

The other side had not lowered his guard. Instead, he had become even more cautious, and that made Zoe a little unhappy.

That blond boy she had taken a few extra looks at before did not seem to have as heavy a guard as these people.

"Fine, fine. Then go do whatever you want. I promise I won't interfere, okay?"

Zoe stuck out her tongue. This was also the greatest sincerity she could offer.

The original agreement with the Solari had been completely voided after this group barged in.

"That's enough."

Caleb nodded in satisfaction.

His Zaun, as well as Piltover, the Twin City-State, played an extremely important role in Mount Targon's trade.

His goods were sold on credit to everyone except the Lunari and the Solari.

Caleb still had at least that much influence.

In the past, the Solari had the confidence to force bad deals, but now they did not.

Now there was a proper Aspect of War backing the place. Let them try again.

Of course, to the Aspect of Twilight, the demons' counterattack was the first thing she had to consider.

As for that mortal territory?

Look at Demacia. Its national emblem had wings and a sword that represented the Aspect of Justice.

In the end, Kayle was not in Demacia at all. Instead, the so-called Fallen Angel, Morgana, had settled down in a forest in Demacia.

In the eyes of the Aspects, mortals were probably not even good enough to count as fuel for increasing their strength.

It was only because the Darkin had gone far too overboard that the previous Aspect of Twilight had been drawn into acting.

And this generation's Zoe was only acting against demons that had existed for who knew how many years because it was her so-called "duty."

The Aspects possessed long, undying lives. When it came to matters that were not urgent, they handled them with a great deal of leisure.

It was a bit like Heimerdinger's attitude toward new technology.

But mortals could not afford to wait that long while chaos raged.

That was also why, after so much time, so many people had kept climbing upward.

The Solari were doing their utmost to suppress this phenomenon, but challengers still came in endless waves.

Let alone with two anomalies like Diana and Atreus appearing.

"After this, the Twin Cities will fully support you and the Lunari."

Diana was temporarily not at base right now. She had probably gone somewhere else to handle her own business.

So Caleb also had to prepare to return to the Twin Cities.

He still had not established his alliance with Qiyana. The Void would always be the great threat hanging over this land.

But Caleb was also a little panicked now. He had left traces of himself using a World Rune all over the world.

Before long, forget Ryze, even Brand would probably follow the trail here.

But right now, immersed in the excitement of driving out the demons, Caleb could not care about that much.

"Then shall we part here?"

After Caleb laid out the entire plan, Aphelios and Atreus had no objections either.

As for Caleb himself, he still had many things to handle.

After the Mecha suits project ended, he still had to assemble the Super Galaxy machine.

Shyvana also had to pass his test before she could become the pilot of that mech.

"Come on. We're going back."

Yuumi was still reluctant to leave. This place was far too difficult to reach.

Previously, she had only dared to sense the aura on the other side through a portal, and the strong intimidation that followed had scared her back.

Now that she could look as much as she wanted, how could Yuumi possibly leave such a good thing so easily?

After discussing the matter of jointly resisting the Void with Atreus, Caleb returned to the Twin Cities in satisfaction, relying on the bond they had formed while fighting side by side in the Black Mist before.

But what greeted him head-on was a wave of heat.

Without thinking, Caleb pushed Kai'Sa aside. Using that force, Kai'Sa spun through a beautiful arc in the air, then fired Icathian Rain.

Caleb himself remained as calm as still water and activated Nullifying Orb.

"Looks like I can't avoid it after all, huh?"
