"Shadow Isles?"
Kai'Sa frowned. The Black Mist, like the Void, was an extremely violent state that destroyed everything it saw.
If the threat of the Shadow Isles had not disappeared, then this could be considered a threat powerful enough to rival the Void.
After all, this came from the realm of the dead, another layer completely different from the material realm.
Caleb could not help remembering that day, the deep voice he had heard from the direction of Noxus.
"Destiny! Domination! Deceit!"
"No, no, no, no…"
Caleb could not help muttering to himself. Those lines belonged to that kinglike man, the one with an incomparably glorious record.
In front of him, even with two World Runes in hand and Ryze beside him, Caleb still felt somewhat afraid.
Thousands of years ago in ancient Noxus, even banishing him had not succeeded, and now, he was very likely to return to the world.
"Renata!"
Caleb hurried to the room next door and grabbed a stack of newspapers in a rush.
"Invoices. Quickly."
Caleb's brows were tightly furrowed. He had not paid attention to news from Noxus these past few days, and now that he wanted to, it was already too late.
"Come on, come on…"
Caleb muttered as he flipped through the newspapers under Ryze's strange gaze.
"As expected. Noxus has basically stopped exporting weapons these days."
"Even the mercenary legions have been recalled. With a cost this high, you can see how determined they are."
"What?"
Kai'Sa could not keep up with Caleb's train of thought for a moment, since he was acting like a frog losing its mind on a lotus leaf.
Ever since he saw that letter, Caleb's thoughts had been jumping all over the place.
One moment, he said they had to go to the Shadow Isles. The next, he started investigating Noxus.
Most people did not know the connection between the two, but Caleb certainly did.
Sahn-Uzal, an ancient Noxian warlord of terrifying power.
After his death, not only had his soul failed to reincarnate, he had instead been summoned out, and his strength had risen even further.
For the entire world, that was not a good thing.
Summoners had once called his name, wanting to banish him back to the realm of the dead.
However, he had already spoken his name in Ochnun, and ancient Noxus was once again swept into a storm of blood.
Only when the Black Rose bloomed did Noxus' homeland finally calm down.
It could be said that Noxus' martial spirit and love of outward expansion came mostly from that warlord.
"No way… Could it be…"
Caleb stared at the news that Noxus was buying grain on a massive scale at high prices and could not help feeling dazed.
"That old venomous bastard Swain must have already thought of it!"
Caleb was so angry his teeth itched. With Raum's help, Swain must have glimpsed some clue to the truth.
But when it came to the Twin Cities, he had not released even a shred of information.
Was he afraid the World's Throat would take advantage of the situation to raise prices and make a fortune off Noxus?
Or did he want to use Mordekaiser to test the Twin Cities' strength? Or the other way around?
No, either way, this was too passive.
After thinking for a moment, Caleb still decided to call those Sentinels of Light and make a trip to the Shadow Isles.
After all, Vex had long since vanished. The king she followed and his beloved had both disappeared into the wind.
Hecarim and Kalista, in the end, had become only a few lines in the history books along with their empire.
Logically speaking, the Shadow Isles' strength had been greatly reduced. Without several hundred years of Harrowings, it would be very difficult for them to gather that many resentful and powerful souls again.
But according to Lucian and Senna's letter, the Black Mist was even stronger than it had been when it invaded the world before.
It was merely restrained within the whole island, no longer showing itself as openly as before.
What was this? Noxian-style troop buildup!
It was only waiting for the timing to mature before rushing toward the entire world!
Aside from Bilgewater on the sea, there was also its former territory, Noxus!
The Twin Cities where Caleb lived were naturally beside ancient Noxus as well. If Mordekaiser took control of Noxus, he would only reveal the nature of multi-front invasion even more thoroughly.
When that time came, forget about having allies. Caleb admitted he would not be able to withstand that kind of enormous offensive pressure.
So before the other side was fully prepared, he had to completely disrupt their plans!
"Yuumi, I'm afraid we have to set out again."
Caleb gently flicked the cat head on the book.
"Even if it's somewhere new, it still gets tiring after a while…"
Yuumi's ears swayed back and forth. As a tool cat, she was very satisfied with her cat tree. It dared to go anywhere and was also very strong.
It was just that the roaming was a little too frequent.
"Stop talking nonsense and hurry up."
Kai'Sa tapped Yuumi's head irritably.
Although she could always stay by Caleb's side, this feeling of constantly saving the world made her feel as though the days of the past had not really gone far away.
It was just that now, she could do more, and she would no longer run away.
"Do you have a portal near the Shadow Isles?"
Because the place they were heading was special, Caleb could not help feeling a little worried.
"I do! It's just that after the Ruination, I didn't go there much anymore, so I don't know what things are like on the other side of the door."
Yuumi's answer was a little hesitant, but when Caleb looked at Kai'Sa, who had already become an Ascended, he felt a little more confident.
"It's fine. If it really doesn't work, we'll have Mecha Malphite dig under their island."
Caleb said it like a joke.
But if they truly could not win, Caleb could only mobilize every force in the Twin Cities and begin another final battle ahead of schedule.
"Are you going to use the World Rune over there?"
Ryze's voice was low, as though he was asking Caleb's intent.
"Of course…"
Caleb's answer was only natural. Without those things helping him, how far would his strength fall?
"Then I'm going too."
Ryze was the strongest mage, or at least one of them.
It was only natural that he could hurt the monsters of the Shadow Isles.
"Weapons of light are like dams blocking water. In the end, they treat the symptoms, not the root cause."
A pale blue haze descended, and a somewhat handsome face entered Caleb's field of vision.
"The Sentinel of Light headquarters received a warning and told us to come with you."
What was strange was that at the Sentinel of Light headquarters, there was no route that went anywhere near the Shadow Isles at all.
"It's fine. This cat beside me happens to have a portal."
Other than the Hexgates, Yuumi's portals were probably the most stable in the Twin Cities.
If they took the Hexgates a few more times, their knees might be ruined. And in the Black Mist, there was no telling what the exact coordinates pointed to.
"Then let's gather again and set out."
This time, without Pantheon and Aphelios helping them, Caleb also felt a little uneasy.
But the other side might not be able to imagine that he would dare to go to the Shadow Isles now, to probe the secrets hidden deep within.
"Anyway, you can call that place the Blessed Isles all you want, but I don't believe it for a second."
As Caleb finished speaking, two men, two women, one cat, and one bald man disappeared from this side of the portal.
