The scream tore through the quiet village like a knife; not even the thunder could drown it out.
Sera reacted instantly.
"Do NOT enter the village unless I give the signal!" She shouted, wrenching her horse around and readied herself to head towards the chaos. "Demons aren't allowed on human territory, and I don't want Lord Virex to suffer for this."
Cessiel's eyes widened.
General Vhalis spun on her.
"My Lady---!"
"If humans see armed demons charging into town during an outbreak, we'll have a massacre on our hands before breakfast!" Sera cut her off, as eager to get going as her horse.
Captain Vorren growled low in his throat.
"That is exactly why you should NOT go in there alone!"
Sera looked at him pointedly.
"And what do you suggest we do?" She asked, the sarcasm thick in her tone. "Do our nails until the knights show up?"
Nobody had an answer for that…
"I have a plan," she continued, hoping to reassure them. "Just stay out of sight until you get my signal!"
