Chapter 48: Battle Against Chrysanthemum Douluo
Douluo: Dugu Bo's Life Simulator
Whoosh—
A black figure streaked across the wilderness, startling birds and beasts hidden within the forest.
It was Dugu Bo, who had just left Spirit City.
Two days had passed since his coronation. With Spirit Hall's influence, his name had already spread across much of the continent.
He figured that once he returned, quite a few factions would come knocking.
Dugu Bo even began considering whether he should lie low for a while—he wasn't good at dealing with people, and they were simply too troublesome.
Suddenly, while flying at full speed, Dugu Bo came to an abrupt halt.
His expression darkened as his gaze locked onto the space ahead.
"How did he discover us? Did you slip up?"
"I think you did! Even you can't see through my concealment—how could a newly advanced Titled Douluo possibly notice?"
Two figures argued as they stepped out from hiding.
Dugu Bo looked at Ghost Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo, frowning slightly before speaking with a hint of amusement:
"And what do you two mean by blocking my path? Don't tell me you're inviting me as guests?"
He hadn't expected them to intercept him so soon.
According to the simulator's predictions, they were supposed to confront him only after he returned to the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well.
Yet now, they had already caught up with him just after leaving Spirit City.
Perhaps it was because he stayed two extra days forging hidden weapons.
Sure enough—the simulator's results were only references, not absolute truth.
Dugu Bo observed them carefully.
Chrysanthemum Douluo had skin as delicate as a baby's, with an androgynous, alluring appearance. His voice made it impossible to guess his age. Without the Adam's apple on his neck, no one would think he was a man.
He wore a luxurious crimson robe reserved only for Titled Douluo, adorned with gold and silver patterns. At his chest gleamed a golden gem the size of a baby's fist, radiating nobility.
Ghost Douluo, on the other hand, was cloaked in black, his entire form like a shadow—his face impossible to discern.
Chrysanthemum Douluo raised his fingers delicately, his face filled with irritation:
"You old fool. Her Holiness lowered herself to invite you into Spirit Hall, and you actually refused? You truly don't know what's good for you."
Ghost Douluo added coldly:
"We've followed Her Holiness for years and never received such favor. And you—a newly advanced Titled Douluo—dare to refuse?"
They had served Bibi Dong for years, yet had never seen her treat anyone with such regard.
Why should Dugu Bo be the exception?
"I did refuse. So what are you going to do about it?"
Dugu Bo finally understood—these two were jealous.
Seeing his indifferent attitude, Chrysanthemum Douluo lost patience:
"Let me test just how capable you are, to dare act so arrogantly!"
"Although my soul power is higher than yours, you possess a hundred-thousand-year soul ring, so it's not unfair."
He said leisurely:
"If you can defeat me, we'll let you go."
Before his words even finished, he vanished from his spot.
In an instant, he turned into a blur and struck toward Dugu Bo with a palm.
Sneak attack?! No honor at all!
Dugu Bo's expression changed as he met the attack head-on with his own palm.
A direct clash? That was exactly what he preferred.
His poison was most effective in close contact—what he feared most were opponents who kept their distance.
As long as he could touch Chrysanthemum Douluo, he could silently infect him with the Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor Poison.
But Chrysanthemum Douluo had already suffered from this before—there was no way he'd fall for it again.
The palm strike was just a feint. As he approached, he suddenly changed moves, tilting his body downward.
Planting both hands on the ground, he flipped and kicked toward Dugu Bo's face.
Caught off guard, Dugu Bo raised his arms to block.
Boom!
With a dull thud, Dugu Bo was pushed back several steps before stabilizing himself.
"Hmph. Stop testing me—I don't have time to play with you!"
Dugu Bo snorted coldly as his aura surged. One soul ring after another rose from beneath his feet.
"Third Soul Skill—Jade Phosphor Mist Formation!"
The thousand-year soul ring in the third position lit up brightly as Dugu Bo exhaled a thick cloud of poisonous mist toward Chrysanthemum Douluo.
At that moment, Chrysanthemum Douluo had just released his martial soul and hadn't yet used a soul skill before being engulfed.
Whoosh—
In the next instant, he stepped on a massive golden chrysanthemum and flew out of the poison.
Hovering outside, he smirked proudly:
"Heh, old poison freak, your toxins won't hurt me so easily."
Dugu Bo said nothing.
He knew his poison alone couldn't quickly harm a Titled Douluo.
But… poison wasn't all he had.
His response was simple—two metallic spheres.
The spheres shot out the moment Chrysanthemum Douluo emerged from the mist. Midair, they suddenly accelerated and collided with each other just before reaching him.
Ghost Douluo urgently shouted:
"Chrysanthemum, be careful!"
But before he could finish—
Boom!
A loud explosion rang out as dense poisonous smoke completely engulfed Chrysanthemum Douluo.
Cough, cough—damn it!
He burst out of the cloud in a disheveled state. His red robe was torn and ragged, his face dark with anger.
"Sixth Soul Skill—Golden Petal Flowing Radiance!"
With his sharp voice, the massive chrysanthemum's petals began to move, forming a crescent-shaped blade.
With a wave of his hand, the crescent blade shot toward Dugu Bo.
The air itself hissed under the force of the attack—its speed and power were terrifying.
Chrysanthemum Douluo's eyes gleamed coldly. At this distance, unless one specialized in speed, no Titled Douluo could evade it.
Dugu Bo's expression turned serious.
Since he couldn't dodge—then he simply wouldn't.
"Fifth Soul Skill—Serpent Python Heavenly Shield!"
His fifth soul ring lit up instantly.
Emerald scales appeared one after another, forming a massive shield that completely covered him.
Just as the shield formed, the attack struck.
Clang—!
A piercing collision rang out.
In the next moment, the shield shattered under the force of the attack.
But during that brief moment of resistance, Dugu Bo had already retreated beyond the attack's range.
Boom!
The crescent blade broke through his defense and slammed deep into the ground.
Earth and debris exploded outward as dust filled the air, engulfing the battlefield.
