"I'm so hungry..." Aoko Aozaki sprawled on the sofa like a salted fish, letting out a weak wail.
"Stop shouting." Beside her, Alice Kuonji frowned. Aoko Aozaki had been shouting since early morning, making her feel miserable too. She hadn't eaten anything since yesterday, and now, triggered by Aoko Aozaki's shouting, Alice Kuonji's stomach was also sounding an alarm.
"But I'm really hungry," Aoko Aozaki said pitifully. You should know she hadn't eaten a single thing; if you had to say, she'd only drunk some tea, which didn't fill her stomach at all and instead made it feel worse. If she had classes today, Aoko Aozaki could have gone to school to find a friend to share a meal with, but unfortunately, it was a day off, and her only option was gone.
Knock, knock, knock.
A sudden knocking sound rang out. Alice Kuonji and Aoko Aozaki raised their eyebrows, not understanding who would come here at this time. This Western-style Mansion was located on a hilltop with no other houses nearby and was even misunderstood as a haunted house by some people in Misaki City. Almost no one ever came here, yet today, against all odds, someone had arrived.
"You go open the door," Alice Kuonji said, looking at Aoko Aozaki. She had just used a tool to check outside and found it was just an ordinary person with no magical energy in their body. More importantly, she was also too hungry to have the strength to open the door.
"Ah, I don't want to go. I'm so hungry I don't have any strength." Although she said that, Aoko Aozaki still crawled up from the sofa and walked toward the front door.
As Aoko Aozaki approached the door, a faint aroma of food suddenly appeared. Aoko Aozaki's stomach couldn't help but growl, and a thought flashed through her mind: "Could it be a food delivery?!"
Starving, Aoko Aozaki completely ignored why someone would be delivering food to them and impatiently opened the door. It was as if she could already see the food waving at her.
Opening the door joyfully, what entered Aoko Aozaki's eyes was a beautiful girl with rainbow-colored long hair.
"Hello, this is the delivery you ordered." The rainbow-haired girl took out a bento in a bag, and the portion looked quite substantial.
Smelling the fragrance wafting from the bag, Aoko Aozaki couldn't help but swallow her saliva. It smelled so good, especially for someone like her who had been hungry for almost a day; the food before her was like a tempting treasure.
Aoko Aozaki really wanted to take the items from the rainbow-haired girl's hand, but at that moment, she realized a very fatal problem: she had no money!
The rainbow-haired girl seemed to see Aoko Aozaki's embarrassment and smiled, "Dear customer, this delivery has already been paid for."
"It's already been paid for?!" Aoko Aozaki looked at the rainbow-haired girl in surprise and asked, shocked, "Who? Who helped pay for it?"
"I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to that question either." The rainbow-haired girl gave a polite smile. "However, it seems that customer left a letter for you."
"A letter?" Aoko Aozaki frowned. "Can I see the letter?"
"Of course, customer," the rainbow-haired girl said with a smile. "But could I trouble you to take the delivery first? I still have work to do."
"Sorry, sorry!" Aoko Aozaki said quickly, then took the delivery from the rainbow-haired girl, along with a letter wrapped in kraft paper.
"Wait!" Aoko Aozaki suddenly called out to the rainbow-haired girl who was about to leave and asked loudly, "What is your name?"
The rainbow-haired girl gave Aoko Aozaki a strange feeling, a mysterious sense of familiarity. This feeling came very suddenly, and Aoko Aozaki didn't know why. she could guarantee that today was the first time she had seen this rainbow-haired girl, so it felt very strange.
"My name?" The rainbow-haired girl turned back and smiled at Aoko Aozaki. "My name is Jibril."
With that, the girl named Jibril quickly disappeared from Aoko Aozaki's sight.
"What a strange girl," Aoko Aozaki murmured. "But why did she feel so familiar? And such a beautiful girl is actually a delivery person? Doing anything else would be easier than this, right? What's wrong with this world?"
In Aoko Aozaki's view, this girl named Jibril had a beautiful appearance and could easily find other work. Even being a waitress would be simpler than this, and with such beauty, there would surely be many customers just by her standing there. However, Aoko Aozaki felt like something about her own thoughts was slightly off.
"Aoko, what are you doing?!" Alice's voice came from behind the door, and Aoko Aozaki snapped back to her senses. She hurriedly carried the bento in her hand into the room. Having smelled the fragrance for so long, she was already starving. As for who had paid the bill, it was no longer important to Aoko Aozaki; she was simply craving it too much.
