Varner hesitated to call out his people for such a dangerous mission, because whenever a goblin attacks a human village… even a rank C could kill a goblin. So it's almost like a suicide mission.
Then, five goblins themselves came forward and said, "We are ready for this mission, Chief."
Varner asked them, "Are you sure? You guys have families too…"
They replied, "Marta is also our family. We want to save her… we will give our lives to save her."
Varner gave them a gentle smile.
Then Varner turned to us and said, "You guys have one thing to do—protect my people until they get out of the western forest and reach the village."
We replied, "We will do it. We will make sure they are safe."
Still, Varner didn't tell us what exactly they were going to do in the village.
We started moving after the goblins said goodbye to their families. After they left, Varner got ready for his mission. He was planning to go alone, but two goblin soldiers willingly accompanied him.
They went through the demon entrance of the dungeon in the forest. Since it was a demon entrance, no other demons would attack them—but the problem was human adventurers.
Varner and the goblins moved forward, facing random beasts along the way. The beasts were fully prepared to attack whoever came near the dungeon, but Varner had no major problem dealing with them.
Soon, they were confronted by a group of human adventurers—a party of four.
Varner said to his goblin soldiers, "Don't come out until I say." Then he went forward alone to face them.
Since his mission was to steal and not attack humans, he said, "We didn't come here to attack you. Leave and go."
But the arrogant adventurer suddenly cast water magic and attacked Varner.
Varner dodged and realized this wouldn't end without a fight. He moved forward. Another human with a shield stepped in, and both of them clashed face to face.
At the same time, a human girl began chanting a spell.
Varner tackled the shield user, while the arrogant adventurer kept attacking him with continuous water magic. Varner escaped. The shield user was wounded, and the healer started healing him.
Suddenly, the girl cast a spell—Mud Trap—and almost captured Varner. The adventurer used his water magic to make it stronger.
Varner then began chanting his own spell.
The adventurers were shocked—because goblins cannot cast magic.
But since Varner was Daris's student, he had learned magic. He was the sole exception in the goblin village.
Suddenly, plants began to grow from the mud and completely destroyed the trap.
Varner broke free, and the plants wrapped around the adventurers.
They thought he was going to kill them…
But instead, Varner left them there and went deeper into the dungeon.
Back on our way, we were moving when suddenly a sound came from one of our boxes where we stored food. It was moving on its own.
Tank opened it… and it was Earl—the kid.
All of us were shocked, but the goblins coming behind us didn't know. Maria was about to tell them, but Earl pleaded with her not to.
We told him, "You have to stay with us. You can't go anywhere else."
He said okay… and then fell asleep.
Maria said to me, "Listen, Rudo… I don't know what we are actually doing. We were supposed to kidnap Varner alive, but now we've sent him on a mission. Since you are our leader, you can make choices, but at the end of the day… the Holy Master's words have power."
She continued, "After their work in the village, we will go back with them, kidnap Varner… and leave."
I said okay.
Since Maria is the saint, she has a lot of respect for the Holy Master, so she definitely wants to complete the mission.
Varner got to the deep level where the scroll was kept. He entered the room and saw an armored golem guarding the scroll.
A normal golem is stronger than an average goblin, so an armored golem would be equal to—or even stronger than—Varner.
Varner tried to communicate with it, but it didn't show any reaction. However, when one of the goblin soldiers stepped forward, the golem's eyes started shining… and it rushed at him at full speed.
Fortunately, Varner jumped and saved him.
He told them to go back and held onto the golem's hands… but he was thrown back. The golem was stronger than him.
Varner cast his spell, and a tree emerged to hold the golem—but it broke free without any trouble.
Varner started casting another spell. Plant spikes attacked the golem… but it did nothing.
Varner realized his magic wasn't working. So he decided to fight it head-on.
He moved behind it, punched, then jumped and kicked its face… but it didn't move even an inch.
The golem countered with a single punch—
Varner was thrown against the wall, coughing blood.
The golem moved toward him to finish him.
Suddenly, the two goblins jumped forward and grabbed the golem's legs… but it was still moving.
Varner got back up. The golem was about to crush one of the goblins under its feet.
Varner rushed in, caught its leg, and with all his strength, pushed the golem down.
He cast his strongest plant spell. A poisonous plant wrapped around the golem's head. The force of the magic pushed Varner back, and the other goblins dragged him away.
They thought the golem would fall…
But it didn't.
It stood up again. The poison had no effect.
That's when Varner realized—
There was a magic spell attached inside the golem's armor. The only way to defeat it was by breaking the armor.
Varner moved forward again. The golem raised its hand to attack—
Varner dodged, grabbed the armor with full force, and broke it open.
He immediately pulled out the magic spell sheet and tore it apart.
The golem stopped moving… and turned into sand, leaving only the armor behind.
Varner stood there, waiting for a signal from the goblin soldiers who had gone to attack the human village.
Because if he took the scroll now, it would alert the humans—
So he had to wait for the attack before taking it. Rudo and his party, along with the goblins, entered the village.
Suddenly, the goblin soldiers marched forward and started attacking the people.
We didn't realize what was happening, but we knew we had to stop them. We caught the goblins one by one… but it was too late. The warning signal had already been triggered.
Arden came out. He was one of the strongest adventurers after Rudo.
He came to the place where he saw Rudo holding down a goblin and immediately asked, "Rudo, what are you guys doing here?"
Suddenly, one of the goblins jumped behind him to attack. Arden dodged the attack and kicked the goblin back. The goblin was thrown away, blood coming out of his mouth.
Pears knew Arden was strong… and that he would kill the goblins. But he had promised to protect them.
So he cast his wind spell and created a big typhoon, safely pushing the goblins back into the forest.
Arden thought Pears was helping him and said, "You didn't have to cast such a strong spell for lowly goblins… anyway, what are you guys doing here?"
We replied, "We came to see you."
Arden asked, "Me? Why?"
Selena said, "We came here to challenge you for the next raid."
Arden loves challenges because he wants to beat Rudo. He laughed and said, "You really have some nerve, coming to my village and challenging me."
Suddenly, an old man arrived. He was the chief of the village.
He said to Arden, "Are you ready now? Can we start moving?"
Arden was about to accompany the elder, since the earlier attack had been noticed by the Holy Master, and he had called the chief for investigation.
Arden said goodbye to us and left.
We moved back to the forest and saw the goblins lying there. Maria healed them at the same time.
Meanwhile, Varner got the scroll and came back up…
And we all started moving back toward the village. Varner got back to the lake, and Bojo was waiting for him there.
Varner gave him the scroll.
Bojo opened it… and started laughing.
Varner asked him to give Marta back, but Bojo, with a sinister laugh, said, "I have another mission for you. After that, I will release that goblin."
Varner was furious and was about to attack him, but Bojo dodged and reminded him once again that he had a hostage.
Varner stopped. He went silent… and asked, "What do you want now?"
Bojo told Varner about his mission—
…and it shocked Varner to the core.
Bojo said,
"You have to kill Daris."
