**Chapter 14: The Foundation of a God Slayer**
**The Hall of Eternal Frost – The Awakening**
The air in the cavern didn't just grow cold; it froze time itself. Moisture suspended in mid-air turned into diamond dust. The ground cracked as frost spread rapidly from the High Priest's feet, turning the stone floor into a sheet of slippery, deadly ice.
"**Kill them!**" the High Priest shrieked, his voice echoing with the distorted roar of the sleeping demon behind him.
Dozens of Ice Warriors, clad in armor made of permafrost and wielding jagged spears, charged forward. Their movements were synchronized, a wall of death rushing toward Chen Feng and Lin Yue.
"Lin Yue, go!" Chen Feng shouted, his voice cutting through the howling wind like a blade. "Don't look back! Get the Pearl!"
Lin Yue didn't hesitate. She trusted him completely. Activating her *Starlight Step*, she became a blur of silver light, darting around the edges of the battle, heading straight for the floating pedestal where the **Dragon Scale Pearl** hovered.
Chen Feng stood alone in the center of the hall. He closed his eyes for a fraction of a second, feeling the new power surging through his veins.
*Foundation Establishment.*
His dantian was no longer a pool of gas; it had condensed into a liquid sea of energy, swirling with the black fire of the Void. His meridians were wider, stronger, capable of channeling ten times the power he had before.
"Let's see what this new body can do," he whispered.
He opened his eyes. They were no longer brown or purple. They were pure, abyssal black, with rings of white fire spinning within them.
The first wave of Ice Warriors reached him. Spears thrust from all sides, aiming to impale him.
"**Void Domain: Zero Gravity.**"
Chen Feng raised a single hand.
Suddenly, the laws of physics in a ten-meter radius around him shattered. The charging warriors lost their footing. Their spears slowed to a crawl. Ice shards floating in the air stopped moving.
They were trapped in a pocket of distorted space where gravity and momentum meant nothing.
"What is this magic?!" one warrior screamed, flailing helplessly in mid-air.
"Not magic," Chen Feng said calmly, walking through the frozen attackers as if they were statues. "This is the Void."
He passed through the first warrior, placing a hand on its chest.
"**Disintegrate.**"
The warrior didn't break; it simply unraveled into mist, its spiritual structure erased by the touch of the Void Flame.
He moved to the next. And the next.
Within seconds, the entire frontline of twenty warriors had vanished, leaving only empty armor clattering to the ground.
The High Priest watched in horror from his position near the glacier. "Impossible! You're only a newly established Foundation cultivator! No one can dominate a domain at this stage!"
"I'm not 'no one'," Chen Feng replied, turning his gaze toward the priest. "I am the end of your era."
He clenched his fist.
"**Void Domain: Collapse.**"
The pocket of zero gravity imploded. The remaining Ice Warriors were crushed instantly into tiny cubes of ice, then pulverized into dust.
The path to the High Priest was clear.

**The Pedestal**
While Chen Feng held the line, Lin Yue reached the base of the massive glacier. The heat radiating from the sleeping Demon God was intense, even through the ice. It felt like standing next to a frozen sun.
She climbed the icy steps leading to the pedestal. The **Dragon Scale Pearl** hovered just out of reach, protected by a layer of golden runes—the same runes binding the demon.
"It's so beautiful," she whispered, reaching out. "And so... sad."
As her fingers brushed the pearl, a voice echoed in her mind. Not evil, but ancient and weary.
*"Take me, child of Starlight. Break the chain. But beware... the lock is also the cage."*
"I have to," Lin Yue said firmly. "If we don't, he wakes up and destroys everything."
She grabbed the pearl.
Immediately, the golden runes on the glacier flared bright red. Alarms blared in the psychic realm.
Behind her, the giant figure in the ice stirred. One eye cracked open. A slit of pure blue fire glowed in the darkness.
**"WHO... DARES..."** a voice boomed, shaking the very foundations of the earth. Ice chunks the size of houses fell from the ceiling.
The High Priest laughed maniacally. "Yes! Master! Wake up! Feed on their souls!"
He turned to Chen Feng, his staff glowing with a dark green light. "You bought her time, boy, but now it's over! My master's awakening grants me infinite power! **Frost Apocalypse!**"
He slammed his staff down.
A tsunami of blue fire erupted from the ground, sweeping toward Chen Feng. This wasn't normal fire; it was cold so extreme it burned like plasma. It consumed the air, the light, the sound.
Chen Feng didn't dodge. He spread his arms wide.
"**Void Scripture: Devouring Heaven.**"
A massive vortex of black energy opened in front of him, larger than any he had created before. It roared like a hungry beast, swallowing the blue tsunami whole.
The collision of energies created a shockwave that blew the remaining ice walls outward, exposing the cavern to the surface above. Snow began to pour in.
"More!" Chen Feng gritted his teeth, his feet sliding backward across the ice. "Give me more!"
He pulled harder, draining the priest's attack until not a single flame remained. Then, he redirected the absorbed energy, mixing it with his own Void Flame, and fired it back.
"**Return to Sender.**"
A beam of black-and-blue energy shot back at the High Priest faster than thought.
The priest barely had time to scream before the beam pierced his chest, exploding out of his back in a geyser of ice and blood.
He flew backward, crashing into the chains binding the Demon God.
"No... Master... save me..." the priest wheezed, his body crumbling into frost.
The Demon God's eye opened wider. **"WEAKLING. USELESS."**
With a casual flick of its finger, the giant shattered the priest's remaining form into dust. Then, it looked at Chen Feng.
**"YOU. YOU SMELL LIKE... HIM. THE TRAITOR."**
Chen Feng froze. "You know Zhang Wei?" (His past life name).
**"I KNOW THE VOID FLAME. IT BURNS MY FLESH EVEN NOW."** The demon strained against its chains, which were glowing red hot from Lin Yue's interference. **"GIVE ME THE PEARL, BOY. AND I WILL GRANT YOU POWER BEYOND YOUR DREAMS. JOIN ME. WE CAN CRUSH THE SIX SOVEREIGNS TOGETHER."**
Chen Feng narrowed his eyes. "Join a monster who enslaves worlds? No thanks. I prefer to work alone."
**"THEN DIE."**
The demon roared, and the chains began to snap. One link broke. Then another. The pressure in the room became unbearable. Lin Yue, holding the pearl, was thrown back by the force, sliding toward the edge of a deep crevasse.
"Lin Yue!" Chen Feng shouted.
"I have it!" she cried, clutching the pearl to her chest. "But the seal is breaking! We need to leave NOW!"
Chen Feng looked at the demon, then at the collapsing cavern. The ceiling was giving way entirely. Massive stalactites were falling like missiles.
"We can't kill him yet," Chen Feng realized. "He's too strong, even partially awake. But we can re-seal him."
He rushed to Lin Yue, grabbing her hand. "The pearl! Use it to lock the gate!"
"How?" she yelled over the roaring wind.
"Smash it against the core chain!" Chen Feng commanded. "The memory in the pearl knows what to do!"
Lin Yue nodded. She gathered all her starlight energy, channeling it into the Dragon Scale Pearl. It glowed with a blinding azure light.
"For the world!" she screamed.
She leaped forward, dodging a falling ice pillar, and slammed the pearl directly onto the central chain binding the demon's wrist.
**CRACK!**
The pearl didn't break; it merged.
Azure light exploded outward, weaving new chains of pure dragon energy around the old, broken ones. The demon roared in fury as the light burned its flesh, forcing it back into the ice.
**"NO! I WAS FREE! CURSE YOU! CURSE THE VOID!"**
The ice surged forward, encasing the demon once again. The blue fire in its eye flickered and dimmed, finally closing shut. The rumbling stopped. The cavern fell silent, save for the dripping of melting ice.
Chen Feng and Lin Yue stood panting amidst the ruins. The demon was sealed again, but the cage looked fragile. Cracks remained.
"It won't hold forever," Chen Feng said grimly, looking at the new chains. "Maybe a hundred years. Maybe less."
"But we stopped him today," Lin Yue said, leaning against him for support. She held the remnants of the pearl's setting in her hand—a small shard that still pulsed with light. "And I got a fragment. This... this is enough to stabilize my curse for another year."
Chen Feng nodded. "Good. Now, let's get out of here before the whole mountain collapses on top of us."
He activated **Void Step**, wrapping both of them in a sphere of darkness.
"**Void Teleport: Surface.**"
In a flash, they vanished from the freezing depths, reappearing on the snowy peak above, just as the entrance to the caves imploded with a thunderous boom, burying the Hall of Eternal Frost under millions of tons of ice.

**On the Mountain Peak – Moments Later**
The wind howled, but it felt gentle compared to the hell they had just escaped.
Chen Feng checked his system panel.
**[Quest Completed: Secure the Dragon Scale Pearl]**
**[Reward: 1000 Void Points]**
**[Bonus: 'Void Domain' Upgraded to Level 2]**
**[Cultivation Stabilized: Foundation Establishment Level 1]**
**[New Item Acquired: Fragment of Starlight (Quest Item)]**
"We did it," Lin Yue sighed, collapsing onto the snow, laughing weakly. "We actually survived."
Chen Feng sat beside her, looking out over the endless white wasteland.
"This was just the beginning, Lin Yue. That demon knew me. Knew my past life. The Six Sovereigns are everywhere. And now they know we're coming."
He clenched his fist, feeling the power of his new foundation humming beneath his skin.
"Let them know. Let them fear."
He stood up, offering his hand to Lin Yue.
"Come on. We have a long journey back to the academy. And then... the real hunt begins."
Lin Yue took his hand, pulling herself up. Her eyes shone with determination.
"Where to next?"
Chen Feng looked south, toward the distant horizon where the clouds parted to reveal green lands.
"Home. To prepare for war."
