Chapter 10 - Beyond Familiar

Yuto moved.

Not cautiously.

Not carefully.

Cleanly.

The last cycles had changed something.

There was no hesitation left.

No delay.

No failure to correct.

Everything followed.

Exactly.

Something approached.

Low.

Fast.

It lunged.

Yuto didn't wait as long as before.

He moved early.

His limb struck.

Precise.

Pierced.

Held.

The creature stopped before it touched him.

Consumed.

Yuto didn't stop.

Another came.

Then another.

He didn't return.

Didn't slow.

Didn't reset inside the crack.

He stayed out.

Moved forward.

More came.

Two.

He intercepted one.

Turned immediately.

The second was already within range.

No adjustment needed.

Both stopped.

Consumed.

The pressure inside him didn't waver.

Didn't split.

Didn't lose control.

It followed.

Perfectly.

Yuto moved again.

He didn't wait for them anymore.

He advanced.

Toward the next presence.

Toward movement.

Toward anything that reacted.

The creatures came faster now.

Drawn by motion.

By disturbance.

It didn't matter.

Each one ended the same.

Clean.

Certain.

No damage taken.

No correction needed.

The cycle had changed.

It wasn't find and wait anymore.

It was move and end.

Yuto didn't return to the crack.

He passed it.

Didn't slow.

Didn't stop.

He moved beyond it.

Further.

Into ground he hadn't crossed before.

The space felt the same.

But not completely.

The cracks were deeper.

The gaps wider.

The air heavier.

Not enough to stop him.

But different.

Something approached.

Not fast.

Not slow.

Measured.

It didn't lunge immediately.

It watched.

For a moment.

Then moved.

Yuto stepped forward.

Didn't wait.

Closed the distance.

His limb struck.

Precise.

It connected—

But not clean.

The body resisted.

Slightly.

Not enough to stop him.

But enough to notice.

The creature twisted.

Its movement wasn't as predictable.

It didn't collapse immediately.

It struggled.

Longer than the others.

Yuto adjusted.

Applied more pressure.

Held tighter.

The body beneath him slowed.

Then stopped.

Consumed.

Yuto remained still.

That took longer.

Not much.

But longer.

Another presence.

Then another.

They didn't rush him immediately.

They circled.

Shifted.

Different.

Yuto didn't step back.

He moved forward.

Closed the distance again.

The first attacked.

He intercepted.

Clean.

But the second came during it.

Faster.

Closer than expected.

Yuto shifted.

Still controlled.

But tighter.

Less space.

Less margin.

His strike landed—

but not as easily.

He had to adjust mid-motion.

The body resisted again.

Not enough to stop him.

But enough to slow him.

Both stopped.

Consumed.

Yuto didn't move immediately.

The difference was clear.

His movements still worked.

Still precise.

Still controlled.

But—

they required more.

More pressure.

More effort.

More time.

He moved again.

Further.

The space changed slightly.

Not visibly.

But in how things reacted.

Another approached.

This one faster than the last.

It didn't hesitate.

It lunged immediately.

Yuto met it.

His limb struck.

Precise—

but the impact pushed back.

Slightly.

The creature didn't stop instantly.

It forced forward.

Closer than the others ever had.

Yuto held.

Applied pressure.

More than before.

The resistance broke.

It stopped.

Consumed.

Yuto stayed still.

That shouldn't have taken that long.

His control hadn't failed.

His movement hadn't slipped.

Everything worked.

Exactly as before.

But the result—

was slower.

Less efficient.

He lifted his limb.

Held it.

Perfect.

No tremor.

No instability.

No error.

Control wasn't the issue.

Yuto moved again.

Not retreating.

Not avoiding.

Forward.

The creatures here were different.

Not stronger in a way that overwhelmed him.

But—

less easy.

Less immediate.

Each one required more.

Time.

Pressure.

Effort.

His body responded perfectly.

But it wasn't enough to end things instantly anymore.

Yuto stopped.

The cycle hadn't broken.

But it had changed.

Before—

everything ended the moment he acted.

Now—

it took longer.

That was enough.

He moved again.

Not with hesitation.

Not with fear.

But with something else.

Awareness.

Control had reached its limit.

And for the first time—

that limit was clear.
