It's been 6 months since his birthday and yet the bitter truth haunted me like an constant shadow.
"Sofia, have you taken the vitals of bed number 3"- Ava, my childhood bestfriend and the only person who truly cared for me asked.
"I haven't taken yet"....
"Sofia, doctors will be coming for their round and you have not taken the vitals yet."- Ava said
"I know, I am sorry I'll do it now." - I said.....
"Sofia, I know that you're going through a tough time struggling with his loss but you two never even met and yet you're mourning for him."-Ava
I tried to avoid her gaze because I know that I am being indifferent towards her, towards everyone around me but I can't forget him. He wasn't just someone I looked up too but he was the person whose voice helped me cope with my problems with my life in a way no one could.
"We'll go together and you're staying at my place tonight and I am not going to take any excuse."-Ava stated with her firm gaze.
"Fine."
Ava gave me her signature smile and left to do her work.
After our working hours were over we both reached the nearest bus stop infront of our hospital and stood there Waiting for our bus to arrive.
While we were waiting for the bus,my eyes flickered toward an women standing across the road staring right into my eyes.
She was wearing a soft pink sweater and a surprisingly warm smile stretched her face,her eyes wrinkling and it felt as if she was someone close to me.
"Sofia, bus has arrived let's hope in."- Ava said hurriedly pulling me with her towards the bus door.
Both of them got inside the bus and took their seats . Sofia looked out of the window at the spot where the woman was standing but now she was nowhere to be seen. She felt a bit wierd but shrugged it off.
