Chapter 6 - Dawn Greyhart

Elias looked in shock as the flesh fell to the ground, and the blood poured like rain. His eyes went past that to the figure that was after it.

Standing there with grace and composure, the figure sheathed their sword slowly, it made a clicking sound as it entered all.

The system came again, this time a different message, Elias looked at it, still confused at everything that had happened, but he was at least sure of one thing, and that was, whatever this system was, it had helped him survive a definite death.

Still eager to see who had saved him, he looked away from the system and to them. The figure turned around, the light landing on them as they began to approach, allowing Elias to see them.

Their black armor gleamed under the light, polished and clean, yet carrying scars and dents buried so deep they had become a part of the armor. From the sleek feminine shape of her armor, he knew that it was a female.

Her long grey hair framed her calm pale face perfectly, she was beautiful, her silver eyes sharp and calm like an undisturbed pond. One thing that stood out the most was the two wolf ears on her head.

Elias looked at them, thinking they were fake, but one subtly twitched as she walked. And that was when he also noticed the furry grey tail behind her.

'I've heard of beast men race, but I've never been able to see one,' he thought to himself.

She walked toward him and then stood right in front of him.

'Shit, she saved me and I'm looking at her, I should show gratitude.' Elias thought, he immediately bowed his head, "thank you for-"

Before the words could finish leaving his mouth, she went on one knee and bowed her head to him. "I am Dawn Greyhart, I'm grateful to be of service to you Master." Her tone was calm, almost like a rehearsed line.

Elias was stunned, he looked at her with wide eyes and some confusion, "master?" He muttered.

Dawn looked up, "yes, my master" She said and looked at him, "you have summoned me, so I'll spend my entire life to defend and fight for you." She said, speaking calmly.

'Whoa, this is crazy, is this what that system meant by summoning heroes?'

'She is my hero huh?' Elias thought, slowly wrapping his head around this. It was shocking but he was smart enough to understand a bit of what was happening.

"Please stand." Elias said, scratching the back of his head.

She lifted herself up, the same emotionless face and eyes that seemed to see through everything.

"My name is Elias." He introduced himself.

"Master Elias." She replied with a nod, yet not a streak of emotion on her face.

'Sheesh, she is cold, does she have no emotions?' Elias wondered.

"Oh? I can do that? Yes please." Elias replied.

[Dawn, a hero that failed to save her home]

Elias read through the details fast, he didn't know the metric of strength this system used, but one thing was for certain, she was strong after all, she completely killed that monster without any trouble.

What drew his attention the most was the last thing written, the hero that failed to save her home.

He looked at her standing before him, 'she couldn't save her home? Could that be the reason she is this cold? I'd be cold if I failed people that relied on me.' Elias thought, his mind soon drifted to Elena, he clenched his fist immediately.

'Elena, I failed,' he thought, feeling a lump form in his chest, his heart racing. 'No, there is a chance now.' He looked at Dawn, she was his hope now, his way to survive this, to get back, to get his vengeance.

As those thoughts formed in his head, a new resolution formed in his heart, he stepped forward, looking at Dawn right in her eye, then immediately he bent on one knee, and bowed his head to her.

The cold expression on the face of Dawn faltered when she saw this, she looked at Elias with confusion.

"I know you came here because I summoned you." He started, "but this is me pleading with you now, I need your help.

I need you to help me save my friend, and to take vengeance on those that sent me here." As he got to this part, he looked up at her, "I need your strength." His voice steady at the end.

Dawn looked at him, her usual calm was back on her face. She stretched her hand to Elias, "you are my master, you have given me a chance at life again, I'll serve you as your sword, no matter what, I'll not allow you to fail to save that which you love, and tear down that which hurt you." A conviction formed in her eyes, as though she resonated deeply with what Elias said.

Elias grabbed her hand and she pulled him up.

'She accepted,' Elias thought, a smile formed on his face, he looked up at the ceiling of the building, "wait for me, all of you, I'll be back, and I'll bring hell with me, one way or the other." He said, making a promise.

Now that he has survived the attack, they had to leave here, he didn't know if her strength could scale against all those monsters inside that chamber, so the option was to return the other way.

He was about to tell her so they could move, but suddenly she looked in the direction of the chamber, eyes glued there.

"Master Elias, these creatures are approaching in large numbers, do you wish to take them down?" She asked.

'They are coming? Shit, they must have awakened, this isn't good.'

"There's no need for that, let's get out of here, I can't have you face all of them yourself." Elias said.

"Master Elias, I may not be as strong as my past, but I believe I can handle them all. Maybe the larger one might be an issue, but it is yet to move." She explained.

'It's like she can see everything there, whoa.'

"Fine, I'll place my trust in you," Elias replied.

"Thank you Master Elias." She said and then grabbed her sword, pulling it out, the metal gleamed under the light. Her blade was beautiful, silver with beautiful black patterns all over it. The guard was simple, but at the center was a wolf head engraved with extreme detail.

She took a battle stance and Elias felt the atmosphere immediately drop.
