If T'Chaka could have heard his own son's inner thoughts, he would have definitely told T'Challa immediately:
My foolish son, have you never heard the ancient saying, "He who understands the times is a wise man"?
The guy could already slip into your living room completely undetected. What else was there to say? If they didn't cooperate now, were they supposed to wait until they got their kidneys harvested in their sleep?
The subsequent discussion was incredibly straightforward:
Wakanda agreed to provide long-term Vibranium support to assist Peter in constructing America's special defense infrastructure. In exchange, Peter would provide the flawless Arc Reactor technology and offer long-term, stable military protection for Wakanda.
In the span of a single meal, Peter had firmly locked down the partnership.
With a grand wave of his hand, and under T'Challa's awe-struck gaze—as if he were beholding a deity—Peter directly swept up a whopping fifty tons of Vibranium into his storage ring.
While fifty tons wasn't enough to cover everything, it was at least sufficient to construct two ultra-large underground shelters in Brooklyn and Queens!
Having collected the Vibranium and agreed on sending personnel later to manage the ongoing trade, Peter didn't hesitate. He immediately utilized the Eye of Aurora to depart Wakanda with Daisy.
As they left, he caught a glimpse of the utterly despondent Shuri out of the corner of his eye. He couldn't help but silently ask for forgiveness in his heart.
Then, a thought crossed his mind: Should I ask Harry later if he has a thing for her?
If Harry didn't mind, it could lead to a nice political marriage between the Osborn family and Wakanda. And if Harry wasn't into it... Well, wasn't that kid Miles Morales (or rather, his uncle Aaron Davis, or maybe Miles himself?) still single?
New York, America
During the days Peter was away, America's development proceeded without a hitch.
After nearly half a month, the presidential election concluded ahead of schedule. The reason for this early wrap-up was simple: George Stacy was just too dominant!
In a mere two weeks, his approval rating broke past 80%. Even if the other candidates worked themselves to death, it was impossible to mount a counter-offensive.
Thus, the least suspenseful election in history ended early. George was elected as the new President of the United States by a landslide, with Norman Osborn serving as his Vice President.
Upon taking office, the very first policy George introduced was a ten-trillion-dollar project, using New York as a pilot, to gradually construct a high-energy defense system capable of expanding nationwide.
And the general director of this project was none other than the "Iron Man," Tony Stark!
The Penthouse Laboratory, Stark Tower
At this moment, Tony, sporting a messy bedhead and two massive dark circles under his eyes, was working sleeplessly on the defensive blueprints.
"Fk! Such a colossal defense system, and the defensive performance has to match the energy intensity of the Hell's Kitchen battle... Even if I build an Arc Reactor larger than the Statue of Liberty, it won't be able to handle such an astronomical energy demand! This is practically an impossible mission!"
Just as Tony was worrying himself sick over this massive hurdle, a diamond-shaped portal abruptly warped into existence right before his eyes.
Startled, Tony instinctively fired a repulsor blast straight at it.
BOOM!
The repulsor blast struck the target, triggering a violent explosion. But once the smoke cleared, Peter walked out of the portal, casually brushing off non-existent dust from his shoulder as if nothing had happened.
"Holy cow, actually firing a repulsor blast at me? You've got some nerve!"
Hearing Peter's voice, Tony was stunned for a second before completely losing his mind:
"Fk! You're not even using windows anymore, you're straight up teleporting through space? Fk! How is this kind of thing even physically possible?!"
Seeing him lose his cool, Peter flashed his signature, infuriatingly calm smile:
"Relax, just a little bit of magic!"
Tony: "..."
Suppressing the urge to blast Peter again, Tony punched him lightly in the chest, then said in his usual boisterous manner:
"Forget it, I don't even have the energy to roast you anymore. Did you bring me a cheeseburger? I'm starving to death here!"
"Of course I didn't forget you!"
The storage ring on Peter's hand flashed, and in the next second, a plate piled high with hot cheeseburgers materialized on the coffee table.
Tony's eyes lit up. He lunged forward, inhaling the burgers like a localized hurricane. If Peter hadn't handed him a cup of cola in time, the guy would have probably choked himself to death.
"So, how is the defensive grid coming along?"
"Huge problems!" Recovering his breath, Tony let out a long sigh. "The defensive materials, the energy consumption, the shield intensity, how to prevent accidental triggers... everything is a nightmare!"
"No worries, take a look at this!"
With another flash of Peter's storage ring, fifty tons of raw Vibranium crashed onto the floor, nearly punching a hole clean through the laboratory's reinforced flooring.
"Vibranium... this much?!" Tony gasped, nearly biting his tongue. "How much is this?"
"Fifty tons! This massive pile should be enough to construct two underground defense works, right?"
"More than enough!" Tony exclaimed in awe, before suddenly freezing. "Wait... underground works?"
"Well, obviously. The buildings on the surface can be rebuilt if they get trashed. Our goal is just to protect the citizens from getting hurt, isn't it?"
Following Peter's detailed explanation, a brand-new, comprehensive defense system was officially drafted.
The Three-Tier Defense System
Peter planned to construct three distinct layers of defense:
Defense Tier Energy Source Purpose & Function
Tier 1: Daily Defense Solar Energy Grid Energy nodes scattered across
the city absorb solar power. In
times of local crises, satellite targeting
deploys a basic energy shield over key
landmarks to prevent destruction. Suffices
for daily crimes and small-scale metahuman
incidents.
Tier 2: War-Time Defense Large-Scale Arc Reactor Activated during
moderate threats (e.g., a Chitauri invasion).
The central Arc Reactor powers the
underground Vibranium shelters, keeping the
evacuated citizens completely safe from
harm.
Tier 3: Ultimate Defense Tesseract (Space Stone) The ultimate trump
card. Activated only when a threat
jeopardizes the survival of Earth.
Harnessing the nearly infinite power of the
Space Stone, it can withstand otherwise
unstoppable cosmic threats.
"This... this design is absolutely genius! But does that 'Tesseract' thing really have that much energy?"
"Don't worry, it's the Space Stone born at the dawn of the universe. You never have to worry about its energy supply."
By now, Tony's trust in Peter had bordered on blind faith, so he didn't doubt the existence of the Tesseract for a second. He simply thumped his chest confidently and said:
"With this blueprint, just leave it to me. I'll make sure this defense system is absolutely flawless!"
Having wrapped up these major national affairs, Peter finally carved out some personal time.
He felt he had been working incredibly hard lately, and it was time to reward himself—and, of course, to spend some quality time with the important girls in his life.
As a certified "master of balancing," ensuring everyone felt equally cherished was a fundamental skill.
He went to find Gwen first.
The young blonde was still patrolling the streets of New York, keeping crime at bay. When she saw Peter suddenly materialize, she let out a delighted squeal and lunged into his arms.
"You're finally back!" Gwen hugged him tightly, a sweet, clingy tone in her voice.
"I've been busy," Peter said softly, gently stroking her smooth blonde hair. Then, like a magician, he pulled an exquisite hair clip from behind his back.
The hair clip was shaped like a six-petaled snowflake, crystal clear and emitting a soft, gentle radiance.
"What is this?" Gwen asked curiously.
"A gift for you," Peter smiled.
