Chapter 5 - Sun & Sea Continent

According to the system, if Michael had a special ability, after creating a new body he could still keep that ability. But right now he only has one ability: immortality.

This special ability definitely can't be used. To be more precise, even if he used it, it'd be pointless because it's not like he can't be killed. The ability he has is that no matter how many times he dies, he can still come back to life, along with a punishment.

Think about it a bit—if the system already brought up the issue, then in the future he probably has a chance to gain special abilities. If that's the case, he'd look even more like a god.

"System, so what do I have to do to get a special ability?"

[Most of the worlds you go to have special abilities and their own power systems. Your strength before your body is created to carry out a wish death, or after you complete a wish, will be retained indefinitely.]

Hearing that, Michael's face lit up. With a genie's infinite lifespan, doesn't this mean one day he'll become a being who can grant any wish with just a thought?

A strange formula popped into his head right then: Infinite life = Infinite worlds = Infinite abilities.

Clearly he's a useless guy right now, but in that moment he felt like he was truly invincible. "Going to be invincible" is still invincible—even if he isn't now, he definitely will be in the future.

He even forgot what punishment would be like when he fails, what punishment is like when he dies. In his head, only the perfect scenario remained, ignoring all possible risks.

[There's an extremely important note. Your abilities and strength can indeed be retained, but only based on the final moment. For example, if at your strongest you were level ninety-nine, but before leaving you were heavily injured and only as strong as level ten. Then the system will retain the ability equal to that level ten.]

The notification from the system made Michael freeze for a moment. If he wasn't careful and ended up heavily injured, wouldn't that be a huge loss? If he tried hard his whole life and in the end lost ninety-nine percent of it, he'd probably die from anger.

"Wait, how long will I stay in a world? If it's only a few months, then I definitely won't have time to do anything."

Getting stronger isn't something you can do in just a few days. He wasn't dumb enough to think that just luck would be enough to get strong quickly.

[As long as you fulfill the wish for the wisher, you can stay as long as you like. However, once you choose to leave, there's no way to actively return.]

"Why would I come back? After getting enough power from this place, I should go get power from somewhere else."

Michael was originally an 'alien', so he didn't have much to miss about these worlds. His lifespan was infinite; his future experiences were infinite. Until he got infinite power, he wasn't thinking about taking a vacation.

"If there's anything else to note, just say it all at once. I don't want to make some stupid mistake later because I didn't read the genie manual carefully."

[Of course there is. If you successfully fulfill the wisher's wish, after leaving that world you can bring one item. But if you do something excessive, like stuffing a mountain of items into one item, or intend to bring an entire planet, the system will cancel all rewards, including the strength you just gained.]

???

Bringing an entire planet counts as bringing one item? Then why not bring a whole universe?

Michael's eyelids twitched a few times. It seemed there were many 'special' genies before him. Because of those unreasonable existences, the system now had so many notes.

And if there were that many genies, then there were also many people who made wishes similar to his. What if the first person he met wished to become a genie? Just thinking about it made Michael feel extremely uneasy.

"System, if I meet someone who wishes to become a genie, what then? Do I have to resign right after becoming a genie?"

If that really happened, would everything he got after the wish just be a short trip to another world? Even worse, it seemed like he wouldn't get to experience anything at all before having to resign. And who knew if, after no longer being a genie, he'd die or turn into something else?

[That's correct, but don't worry. If that really happens too soon, the system will compensate you with a new life in an interesting world. But if deep down you don't want to be a genie for another second, then there's no compensation.]

Hearing that, Michael understood. One day, when he was truly tired of being a genie, even if someone wished for it, he wouldn't get anything. In other words, he'd vanish along with that wish.

But as long as he still wanted to be a genie, he'd be compensated with a new life. With the system's ability, it should at least be a life lasting a hundred years or so.

"If that's the case, it's acceptable. So when do we get to the first destination?"

Michael nodded and then asked about the destination. He roughly understood all the work-related issues and notes. Although the first job would definitely be hard, the more he did it, the more interesting it would get and the easier it would get.

One day he'd become an invincible genie. Then, no matter where he went, he'd enthusiastically show off without showing any respect to anyone.

[Next destination: Sun & Sea continent.]

[Introduction: A world where everyone has special abilities, with the Sun & Sea continent as the center. This is an extremely large continent with many kingdoms coexisting, and they are all under one of two empires.]
