Chapter 31: Because China does not recognize dual citizenship
On the way back to class, Gwen seemed hesitant to speak. Lan Xingyu saw this and roughly guessed why. While taking a water bottle out of his backpack, he said, "Ask whatever you want to ask. It's not a big deal anyway."
"That…" Gwen said timidly.
"Hmm." Lan Xingyu drank some water, making a sound to indicate he was listening.
"Are you Stark's illegitimate son?" Gwen asked boldly.
Pfft! Lan Xingyu spat out the water he had just drunk in shock! He had guessed the Little Loli would ask something like what his relationship with Tony was, but how did that guy Tony suddenly become his father?
"Of course not." After catching his breath, Lan Xingyu immediately replied. This had to be clarified; otherwise, if Tony found out, he would laugh him to death.
"I'm just a friend of his. We were kidnapped together. Later, we were rescued, and since I have no relatives left in China, Tony brought me to the United States and even helped me get a U.S. Green Card," Lan Xingyu said.
"With Tony's capabilities, he should have been able to get you U.S. citizenship directly! Why just a Green Card?"
Gwen was a bit confused. Because her father was the police chief, she knew many foreigners wanted to obtain U.S. citizenship. Some even smuggled themselves into the U.S. to give birth just to get U.S. citizenship. Why did Lan Xingyu only have a Green Card? With Tony Stark's status, it should have been easy to get.
"Hmm! Tony did want to help me get it, but I refused," Lan Xingyu said indifferently.
"Why?" the Little Loli asked, puzzled.
"Because China does not recognize dual citizenship," Lan Xingyu said with a smile. A ray of sunlight shone onto his face through the window. His face, which was already handsome enough to look like an Uchiha, became even more radiant and gentle. It left our Gwen Little Loli in a daze.
"What are you thinking about?" Lan Xingyu asked, confused, waving his hand in front of the little Gwen's eyes. Why did this girl space out while talking? He hadn't hurt her just now, had he?
Awakened by the waving, Gwen felt a bit shy. Seeing that the classroom was almost reached, she said with Life Qi, "I'm going to class first." She then ignored Lan Xingyu and ran to the classroom on her own.
Seeing Gwen run away, Lan Xingyu was dumbfounded. However, this reminded him. He was probably one of the few protagonists who came to Marvel and still retained his Chinese citizenship. Thinking of this, Lan Xingyu's mood instantly improved, and he couldn't be bothered to care about Gwen's situation. Truly, a young girl's heart is always poetic, and singlehood is earned by strength.
Arriving at the classroom door, he found everyone looking. Uh... was the morning's event spreading that fast? He said a word to the teacher and returned to his seat.
"Hey! Xingyu, you were super cool this morning. How did you..." Seeing Lan Xingyu approach, Peter said to him in a low voice, unable to wait.
"Mr. Peter, can your conversation wait until after class?" the teacher said to Peter somewhat sternly.
"Okay, ma'am, sorry! Sorry!" Peter apologized immediately.
Lan Xingyu slept on his desk as usual. However, this time he woke up as soon as the bell rang. Without the Amber brand pillow, sleeping just wasn't comfortable.
Just as Lan Xingyu was rubbing his neck, Peter said to him, "Xingyu, you are so amazing! Are you not afraid of those guys retaliating against you? I heard some of them seem to have gang backgrounds. Xingyu, you have to be careful!" Peter said with some concern.
"Oh, they have gang backgrounds? Then that's fun. It's necessary to walk around after school today and give them a chance to show up. By the way, why would a gang recruit a few elementary school students?"
"It seems like no one can remember their names. The gang thinks this is a talent, so it seems they are taking them in to cultivate," Peter said hesitantly.
"There's such a thing? Aren't they called..." Lan Xingyu was stunned. He really hadn't remembered their names. Even though he had seen their IDs when they went to the infirmary, with Lan Xingyu's super brain, it shouldn't have been possible to forget, right? Strange. "By the way, Peter, do you play league of legends?" Lan Xingyu asked suddenly.
"I know how to play. Before my neighbor moved away, their child often invited me over to play. But he moved away a year ago, and I haven't played for a year either," Peter said with some regret.
"Knowing how to play is enough. Are you free this weekend? I want to invite you to my house to play. The Alliance is more fun when played together. No brothers, no Alliance, right?" Lan Xingyu said happily.
"Okay! Lan Xingyu, where is your house? I haven't really left Queens much," Peter said with some excitement.
"What are you two chatting about?" At this moment, a female voice rang out from the side. Lan Xingyu turned his head to look; it was Gwen Stacy.
Gwen saw Lan Xingyu looking at her and said, "I came to thank you. You helped me this morning, and I haven't thanked you yet."
"Oh! That thing! Small problem! It's nothing! It was just a small favor. Aren't we classmates? If you could stand up when you saw a classmate being bullied, I had even more reason not to stand by. By the way, has anyone ever told you that you look cool when you stand up for others?" Lan Xingyu waved his hand dismissively.
"Girls don't get described as 'cool,' do they? Seriously! Also, my family heard you saved me and wants to invite you to our house for a visit this weekend. Are you coming?" Gwen asked.
Lan Xingyu thought for a moment, feeling he didn't understand the culture here very well. If he did something rude or offensive after arriving, that would be bad, so he said, "Forget it! I just invited Peter to my house to play this weekend. Peter already agreed, so sorry, I have to refuse you. So sorry!" Lan Xingyu said, appearing calm.
At this moment, Peter, who was very perceptive, seemed to see through Gwen's intentions and wanted to provide an assist for his first friend at school.
"Xingyu, I suddenly remembered I have something to do this weekend, so I might not be able to go," Peter said to Lan Xingyu.
"Ah! What? You're being so unhelpful..." Lan Xingyu complained a bit.
Gwen gave Peter a look that said, "You're sensible," and said to Lan Xingyu, "Then you have time now. The time is set for Saturday. You choose a meeting place."
Lan Xingyu felt a bit desperate but couldn't show it: "Okay... Where is your house? Let's meet at your house. My house is a bit far."
"Hmm? Okay, that's settled. Bye-bye!" Gwen hopped away happily.
Lan Xingyu was depressed. Oh god, he had to go shopping with a girl again. What to do? Then he looked at Peter with a resentful expression. Brother, you know this is a betrayal of revolutionary friendship...
When you are successful, everything you say is the truth.
