Chapter 46 - Chapter 46 Sixth Game (Part Four)

This missile…

It should just be a missile in the game, it can't really kill people, right?

Mu Anqi glanced back at Zhao Guogu behind her and saw that her car was surrounded by a blue shield. Obviously, the item she got was a shield. Mu Anqi had just wanted to see what Si Suying had gotten when she suddenly heard a loud jetting sound—Si Suying's go-kart suddenly flew up and sped ahead. Mu Anqi watched as her kart got smaller and smaller…

Why did she get a missile?! What if those ghosts behind her used missiles to blast her? This missile shouldn't have tracking ability, right? Otherwise wouldn't the player be doomed for sure? Feeling uneasy, Mu Anqi looked at the bend ahead and didn't slow down for stability. Instead, she pulled off a neat drift, steadily driving the kart over the boost pad after the bend, gaining a burst of speed.

Just then, with a loud "boom," an explosion went off behind Mu Anqi. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a red shell crash into the bend and explode, setting off a blast! Because Zhao Guogu's speed was a little slower, she happened to avoid this danger, and her shield remained intact.

Zhao Guogu glanced at the ferocious-faced ghosts behind her, then at Mu Anqi up ahead, who wasn't having much luck. In the last event, Mu Anqi had saved her, so… for this one, she, the luck goddess, would attract the firepower.

At the very end of the track, a huge pushcart spewing flames was stuck at the back. It completely occupied the entire track, forcing the racers in front to speed up and move ahead.

Another treasure chest.

Zhao Guogu got a speed-boost item. She was about to use it when she saw that Mu Anqi's go-kart ahead had neither generated a shield nor gotten a speed boost. Obviously, she had gotten another missile.

Seriously, how could a rich lady have such bad luck? This was simply incomprehensible! Zhao Guogu sighed, and accidentally twisted her steering wheel, causing her go-kart to swerve on the road. That very swerve happened to let her dodge another missile attack.

The six ghost-driven go-karts behind them didn't speed up to pass the players. They kept a certain pace, sticking behind the last player, and whenever they got a missile, they would aim and fire. However, what drove them mad was that the kart ahead seemed alive, like it had a monitor installed at the back—every time they fired, it would inexplicably dodge. And if they did manage to hit it and consume the shield, another brand-new shield would appear the very next second.

Zhao Guogu had no awareness of "drawing aggro" at all. She was determined to cover for her two unlucky teammates up front, and once she gave up the thought of hurrying to the finish line, every treasure chest she opened gave her a shield.

Shield gone? Press the blue button and replace it.

Zhao Guogu: Sigh, Mu Anqi's driving skills are pretty good, but her luck is just too bad—how has she still not gotten a single speed boost? Now I can't even speed up myself.

Finally, the six ghosts behind them were so furious their eyes turned red. Seeing the go-karts about to reach the finish line, three of them accelerated at the same time, using drifting techniques to overtake on the bend, rushing ahead of Zhao Guogu, the "meat shield."

"??!" Zhao Guogu froze—she hadn't even managed to get a single missile! She was just about to warn Mu Anqi when she saw the rich lady ahead toss ten red envelopes behind her…

But that wasn't all—this was a straight track, so Mu Anqi used her left hand to remove the pistol from the bracelet on her right wrist. Holding the steering wheel with one hand, she adjusted her position inside the kart to aim at the tires of the karts behind.

Bang bang bang—

The recoilless pistol felt excellent to use. Mu Anqi fired three shots straight into the tire—once the tire burst, the kart went out of control and crashed to the side. Mu Anqi slammed on the brakes, using her shield to block an incoming missile, then turned the pistol toward another kart and shot out its tire. At the same time, she glanced at the ghost in the last kart and said, "Safe travels," before shooting out its tire as well.

In a game-like way, three ghosts were eliminated! Mu Anqi hadn't directly used special bullets to kill the ghosts—she just wanted to exploit a loophole. After all, this was Crazyracing Kart Rider, and missiles were also meant to attack the karts. If a bullet hit a ghost, the ghost would take damage but might not die; but if the kart was destroyed, in this game, that ghost would lose.

After dealing with those three karts, Mu Anqi stepped on the accelerator and continued driving. She had braked earlier to activate her blessing skill—after all, she wasn't sure if the ghost could hear her from too far away, so she stopped to let it get a little closer.

Zhao Guogu also slowed down. Relying on her abundance of shields that she couldn't even use up, she firmly occupied the middle of the road, only speeding up again when Mu Anqi moved on. She had clearly seen Mu Anqi's series of moves just now, and a look of longing flashed in her eyes—ah! It's so nice to have money, you can buy such amazing items!

Although she was lucky and often got good items and tools in the lottery phase, most of those were single-use. After all, it was a freebie pool—Zhao Guogu felt that Nirvana Space couldn't possibly put too many high-value items in it.

Still, seeing Mu Anqi use weapons reminded Zhao Guogu that she also had quite a bit of "junk." Distracted, she opened her backpack and pulled out two small pink balls, tossing them behind her. The pink balls bounced three times on the track, and with each bounce, they grew larger. After the third bounce, the two balls—now about the size of small cars—sat blocking the middle of the road.

Boom—

A missile hit the pink balls, and countless pink powder particles floated through the air. These particles were sticky and light, even more troublesome than dust, instantly dyeing the three karts and their ghost drivers behind into spotted pink.

Using up the "junk" item she had drawn before, Zhao Guogu once again firmly drew the aggro of the three surviving ghosts behind her. Leisurely, she pressed the blue button after yet another missile hit and let out an extremely lonely sigh.

By the time Mu Anqi reached the finish line, Si Suying had already been there for quite a while. She looked at Mu Anqi and Zhao Guogu driving past the finish line with some confusion. "Why… are you two so late?"

Mu Anqi, who hadn't gotten a single speed boost, silently turned her face away, not wanting to speak.

Zhao Guogu, resigned to playing the role of the "meat shield" at the rear, smiled and put an arm around Mu Anqi's shoulder, not exposing her.

Although the ghosts had been eliminated, Mu Anqi had only gotten one tag at the time. Regardless of what those three ghosts' identities were, she couldn't get their tags.

Having made it through the second game event safely, Mu Anqi glanced back at this completely nonsensical version of Crazyracing KartRider. With her luck, she might as well give up on eliminating ghosts through this game. Her driving skills weren't that great—she couldn't drive backward while blasting the ghost karts chasing her.

After some hesitation, Mu Anqi decided she'd go ride the Ferris wheel instead.

"Or… should we try the roller coaster? What if those originally scary rides turn out to be nothing much here?" Zhao Guogu scratched her head and suggested.

Mu Anqi gave her a deep look. "Sure. You go ride first. I'll collect your body at the bottom."

Zhao Guogu: "I was just saying casually. Let's go to the Ferris wheel first."

The aloof player said nothing, quietly following behind them, seemingly having no opinion about which ride to take. After hearing them decide, she simply went along toward the Ferris wheel.

When they reached the Ferris wheel queue, Mu Anqi realized that this Ferris wheel only allowed one person per cabin.

The ordinary-looking Ferris wheel slowly turned. Mu Anqi noticed one cabin in the sky swaying violently, but the ride's safety seemed passable, as it didn't fall off completely—otherwise, she would have bolted without hesitation.

When one round of the Ferris wheel ended, a panting player with a pale face and a large patch of red staining the front of his white T-shirt staggered down, clutching the wound on his chest. He noticed Mu Anqi and the others as he got off, a flicker of panic crossing his face as if afraid they would take advantage of his injury and isolation to rob him. The shoes on his feet instantly transformed into little winged boots, and in a flash, he disappeared from sight.

Zhao Guogu looked baffled. "Was that a skill or an item?"

"…I don't know either." Mu Anqi took a deep breath—it seemed the Ferris wheel wasn't that easy to handle after all. "I'll go first. If you're worried, stay here and watch me. Decide after seeing how I do." These rides had all been her idea in the first place, but seeing a player come down injured and disheveled like that, she couldn't bring herself to make Zhao Guogu and Si Suying take the risk with her.

"Come on, just ride it. There's nothing safe in this amusement park anyway—who knows if the other rides might be even more dangerous?" Zhao Guogu shook her head, and seeing Mu Anqi's concern, she stepped forward without hesitation and became the first to board the Ferris wheel.

Si Suying said, "It's not good to waste too much time," and then also boarded the Ferris wheel.

Mu Anqi gave a helpless smile and stepped into the next arriving cabin.

Working with teammates like these was truly pleasant.

As the cabin door closed, Mu Anqi sat down inside the Ferris wheel. She held her pistol in her left hand, loading it with special anti-ghost bullets, while her right hand gripped the last remaining substitute paper doll.

The cabin space was cramped, so there was no room to wield the 1.2-meter candy cane, making it inconvenient to use for defense. As for the smoke grenade…

In such a small space, throwing a smoke grenade would leave no way to escape—it would be like harming the ghost for eight hundred while damaging herself for a thousand.

The cabin slowly rose…

Mu Anqi saw the ghosts in line on the ground growing smaller and smaller, and her whole body tensed up. In her mind, she had already prepared seven or eight blessing phrases, ready to be used at any moment.

She rose higher and higher, until it felt as if she could reach out and touch the clouds. She was about to reach the highest point—yet why had no ghost appeared? Completely puzzled, Mu Anqi could only grip the substitute paper doll tighter.

At the very moment the Ferris wheel reached its peak, a billow of red battle robes blurred Mu Anqi's vision, and General Ji, dressed in full military regalia with an imposing aura, suddenly appeared inside the cabin. If not for the red-tasseled spear clipping through the cabin roof, Mu Anqi might not have reacted in time. She instantly used the substitute paper doll, followed by a rapid string of blessings: "Fortune as vast as the Eastern Sea, longevity as enduring as the Southern Mountains, may your smile be ever bright, may joyous events come in succession…"

The illusion shattered, revealing a tall, thin male ghost, pale as a corpse, withdrawing his hand from the paper doll's heart. His eyes, brimming with deep resentment, locked onto Mu Anqi. Inside the Ferris wheel cabin, he performed a series of "beatbox" sounds, then began spinning on his head from ceiling to floor. But the cabin space was so cramped that… Mu Anqi nearly broke down multiple times, huddling into the corner and gripping the Ferris wheel's handrail tightly, terrified of being caught in the ghost's movements as the cabin shook.

The male ghost, in utter humiliation, finished the act, then struck a takeoff pose, and finally executed twenty frog jumps in place.

Heaven knows how Mu Anqi managed to cling to the cabin's edge, pressed tightly into the corner, enduring all twenty jumps and the resulting shaking. Every time the ghost leapt, she feared the cabin would be shaken loose and fall.

She, Mu Anqi, had never regretted her impulsiveness so much.

Wouldn't it have been simpler to just open fire?
