CHAPTER ELEVEN: THE BLOOD TRIAL
"Step away from the servers " my father said. He was standing in the doorway of my company with six agents in tactical gear on either side of him. It was like he was leading a raid on a cell, not his own daughters office.
I did not move. I just stood there looking at him.
"I said step Aria " he repeated.
"I heard you the time " I said, my voice cold and flat. "I am just trying to figure out what gives you the right to walk into my building and give me orders when you have been dead for seven years."
My father said, "I have been undercover."
I laughed,. It did not sound like my laugh. "Is that what we are calling abandonment now?" I asked.
He said, "This is not Aria."
It was personal. It was very personal. "You are confiscating my lifes work " I said.
My father gestured to the agents behind him. "Seize everything " he said. "Servers, drives, backup systems. I want it all."
I said, "You cannot do this."
