Kaelen's POV
I studied the two people standing before me, the ones who had supposedly raised Lyra yet failed her in every conceivable way. They had allowed one daughter to systematically destroy another beneath their very nose. Now they dared to appear here, expecting some form of audience as if they possessed any legitimate claim to see her.
"I'll make this simple for you." I let the quiet hang in the air between us. "Lyra mentioned her favorite dish to me once. Something her birth mother prepared using a family recipe. She said nobody ever managed to recreate it properly." My gaze remained fixed on Helena. "Though yours came close enough."
I retrieved my phone and opened the notes application. The bright screen cast shadows across their confused expressions.
"The recipe. Every detail of how you prepare it. Write it down."
