The lock clicked behind me as I stepped from the Luna's chambers into the corridor. My legs held me steady now, more solid than they had been since dawn. Plans had that effect on me. They anchored my thoughts and silenced the chaos in my mind.
The hallways buzzed with nervous energy the moment I entered them. Pack members rushed past with hurried steps and tight expressions. Whispered conversations drifted from shadowed corners. I caught fragments of their fears floating through the air. The poisoning. The Grand Luna. The captives.
None of them met my gaze directly, but I sensed their attention tracking my movement. Fear made people watchful. I kept my head down and walked with clear intention.
My quarters welcomed me with familiar silence. I slipped inside and turned the lock, the sharp click settling something restless in my chest. I paused, listening to the emptiness around me. Perfect. Complete privacy.
