Kaelen's POV
The hallways blurred past me as I walked away from Genevieve's room, my mind spinning with thoughts I couldn't settle.
My legs moved without purpose, carrying me through the estate while restless energy clawed at my chest. I needed release. Something to burn away the tension coiling inside me.
The training grounds stretched behind the main building, surrounded by forest on three sides. Jaxson was there alone, his body flowing through practiced strikes against a wooden dummy. Every movement precise and controlled.
"Jaxson." My voice cut through the afternoon air.
He turned, dragging his forearm across his sweat-dampened brow. "Kaelen."
"Fight me."
His eyebrow lifted but he asked no questions. Just nodded and stepped into the center ring. I followed, rotating my shoulders to work out the knots.
We began our usual circle, sizing each other up before the real action started.
"You were right," I said. "About Genevieve."
