Chapter 264 - Chapter 264 When Vision Burns

Kaelen's POV

We stepped out of the morgue into harsh daylight that made me squint after the sterile darkness inside. I guided them toward the storage garage where they kept the destroyed vehicles. Two mangled cars sat under fluorescent lights, bearing the scars of their collision. The sentinel's vehicle looked like it had been fed through a metal shredder, twisted into an unrecognizable mass of steel and glass. The second car appeared deceptively whole from the back, though its front end told a different story of complete devastation.

That second car had carried Lyra and Brooks. The metal frame was warped beyond repair. Every window had exploded into fragments. The passenger side had collapsed inward where the impact hit hardest.

The delicate walked toward the sentinel's destroyed vehicle first. Her pale hands pressed against what remained of the driver's door.
