Kaelen's POV
I eliminated the distance between us in one swift movement, pulling her body flush against mine. My arms wrapped around her with an intensity that surprised even me.
"I love you beyond measure," I breathed against her hair, inhaling the familiar scent that had become my anchor.
Her arms circled my waist, clinging to me with equal desperation. The tremor in her voice cut straight through me when she spoke.
"I thought I was going to lose you today. When I saw you charging after him, I was certain the vision would come true." Her words came out thick with unshed tears. "Even though everything worked out, this knot in my chest refuses to go away."
I eased back just enough to meet her gaze, taking her hands in mine and applying gentle pressure to ground us both.
"That fear has no power here anymore," I said with conviction. "We survived. We won."
Her green eyes searched mine, looking for something I hoped she would find.
