Work Work Work.
That was highlight of the day. If I knew I was going to be working this much, I would have probably asked for a leave yesterday or just call in sick.
Over the week, I had gotten more and more attached to Ethan. We often found ourselves in awkward tension, lingering glances, heated kisses, slamming against the nearest surface and sacred off the clock tensions with either a call or something that would interrupt us from making out. Everything was wrong but right at the same time because it was him.
However today was a good one. It was Friday afternoon and I was still typing the papers Ethan gave me on my laptop. I was so pissed with Ethan. This morning, Ethan just walked straight to his office without glancing at me not to talk of muttering a word unlike before he would greet me or either make a comment about my outfit something that always made me blush. However today was not anything of those things. He looked cold and no single emotion flashed on his face. He was pissed. Real pissed.
Being the worrisome person I was, I tried checking up on him to found out what was wrong only to walk in to a furious Ethan chugging down an amber wine. It was too early for that. I tried stopping him but he just shoved me off. I knew we were nothing but that action made me feel discarded and unimportant He should have at least told me something. After all we did.
It was when I was still trying to persuade him that handed me a stack of papers instructing me to type them cause according to him I wasn't busy enough and if I was I wouldn't be wasting time in his office when he didn't call for me. So rude.
I had managed to type 23 papers out of the 50 papers he gave me. My hands were aching badly, they needed a break.
Fine he was in a bad mood but that didn't justify his actions at all. If this was how he wanted it, then two can play the game.
I was putting all my anger and frustration on keyboard that I didn't hear someone walking up to my desk.
"I'm I interrupting something?"
I looked up to see Collins hovering over my desk. I smiled
"Someone's ready to loose their job?" I asked teasingly, cracking my fingers. A break finally.
"I'm now the senior financial analyst and also a valuable member in my department they wouldn't want to loose me that quickly." He said with pride in voice. "By the way, you know you can still press your keyboard lightly and guess what? It will show the exact words on the screen." He added sarcastically.
I rolled my eyes. "Sorry I got carried way."
"Obviously, I stood here for three minutes and you didn't notice. My ears had enough of that loud noise you were making with the keyboard. "
"Anyways what's up with you?" He asked crossing his arms taking the a seat across my desk. "You seem annoyed at something earlier."
"Just my cocky boss." He just doesn't know how to use his words and it's getting my nerves."
"And you decided to take it all on the keyboard?... poor thing" he replied eyeing the keyboard pitifully.
"Maybe he's just having a bad day." Collins added getting comfortable in his seat.
"I know but he should at least say something." I replied raising my brow slightly
"If he wanted to he would have done that earlier. Just leave him alone for now. When his calm he'll explain himself."
I knew Collins was right. I had to be patient with him for now. Ethan would surely come around but I wouldn't let him get to me that easily. He had hurt me with his actions and i had to make him feel sorry for it.
"Okay...but it wouldn't be an easy one." giving him a stubborn look.
"Your decision ma'am."Collins smiled he knew that i had attitudes up my sleeves.
"Hurry up, I'm famished. Just few minutes till lunch break." Collins whined.
I laughed " awwww....someone doesn't want to eat alone." Nathy didn't make it to the office today so it was just me and Collins. "I won't even be able to finish them all today... Just hold on, let me type this paragraph."
"Whatever." Collins replied, nonchalantly rolling his eyes.
After wrapping up my stuff. I glanced at Ethan's door. He still hadn't come out yet. I just hoped he was fine. With that, Me and Collins headed out for lunch. After eating my meal, I mentally noted that Ethan hadn't come out yet so he had not eaten lunch yet. I didn't know what he liked to eat or his meal from his regular restaurant. After debating I decided to order Insalatona (a rich salad) with ice tea that had mint in them. Collins just teased me the whole time but being a gentleman he volunteered to pay for the meals.
Gathering up my courage, I knocked lightly on the door. There was no response so I opened the door. My breathe itched as I saw Ethan bowing down his head with his hands. He looked so sad. He looked up to see me but this time he didn't try to retract or push me way. His hair was disheveled like he had been running his hands through them several times. His expression just softened a little as he saw me and I forgot I was mad at him. This time i saw Ethan behind the mask. Slowly I walked towards his desk.
"Ethan." I whispered with concern in my voice. "Here's lunch, you haven't eaten yet." Placing the food bag on his desk.
He trailed me up and down with his eyes like a predator watching it's prey. "Bella" he said looking into my eyes. He looked at the food and a look of appreciation flashed his face but he ignored the food and shifted his gaze back to me as he stood up walking towards me and stopped a feet a way from me. "Bella" his voice sounded hoarse probably from drinking scotch early in the morning. He looked at me intensely though it had a sad look in them. "I'm sorry for what i did earlier. I came out to look for you but you had already gone for lunch." I was in the wrong. I shouldn't have treated you like that no matter what happened." He said with his filled with regret.
I didn't know what to say or how to respond so I just stared back at him.
"I'm sorry" he whispered closing the space between but I stepped back.
"First of all what happened to you? That would make me consider if the show you played earlier was worth it." Although I knew he was been sincere I still needed to know why plus I would not let him slide easily.
"My Father....his terrible sick. I've contacted all the best doctor there is but he rejected all of them. He keeps getting worse each day and it's taking a toll on me. I know his doing this because he think it's his time to meet my mom but it's not it just can't be. I really don't want anything to happen to him."
I froze. My mouth opened slightly but no words came out. I know it didn't that still didn't justify his actions but I didn't want to think about any of that. The man standing in front of me was a man who loved his father and was sad cause he didn't want to lose him. His eyes just bored into mine not saying a word. I closed the space with us and hugged him tightly. I knew it wasn't the best but he looked like he needed one right now. My thoughts were confirmed when he wrapped his hands around me and sighed deeply.
