Saturday morning arrived slowly for Sofia Mirano.
For the first time in days, there was no alarm rushing her awake, no emails waiting to be checked, and no carefully prepared schedule demanding her attention.
Sunlight slipped gently through the curtains of her small apartment, warming the quiet room.
Sofia stretched slightly beneath the covers before reaching for her phone on the bedside table.
Two messages.
Both from Lucy.
She smiled even before opening them.
Lucy:
Good morning.
Lucy:
I keep thinking about last night.
Sofia sat up and typed back.
Sofia:
About the dress design?
The reply came instantly.
Lucy:
No.
Lucy:
About your CEO seeing you.
Sofia sighed and shook her head.
Sofia:
Lucy, he just drove past.
Lucy:
And saw you looking stunning.
Sofia rolled her eyes, though she couldn't help smiling.
Sofia:
You're impossible.
Lucy replied with a laughing emoji and another message.
Lucy:
Anyway, I'm going to my shop today. Come visit if you're free.
Sofia thought about it.
Her weekends were usually quiet—laundry, groceries, catching up on reading.
But visiting Lucy sounded more fun.
Sofia:
I'll come by this afternoon.
Lucy:
Perfect.
Across the city, Leo Rivera's morning was far less peaceful.
His apartment was large, quiet, and perfectly organized—just the way he preferred it.
Yet today, something felt… distracting.
Leo stood in his kitchen, pouring coffee into a cup while looking out over the city skyline.
His mind kept returning to the same image.
The café window.
Sofia Mirano sitting across from her friend.
Her hair loose.
Her smile relaxed.
That soft cream-colored dress.
She had looked completely different from the composed, professional woman he saw every day at the office.
And yet somehow…
More like herself.
Leo took a slow sip of his coffee.
It was unusual for him to think about employees outside work.
Very unusual.
Yet the image refused to leave his mind.
He exhaled quietly.
Then shook his head.
Work first.
Always work.
Later that afternoon, Sofia arrived at Lucy's fashion boutique.
The shop sat on a charming street filled with colorful storefronts and lively weekend shoppers.
Above the entrance hung a simple sign:
Lucy's Fashion
Sofia pushed open the glass door.
A small bell chimed softly.
Lucy immediately looked up from behind the counter.
"Sofia!"
She rushed over and hugged her tightly.
"I'm so glad you came."
Sofia laughed.
"You invited me."
Lucy stepped back and gestured around the shop proudly.
"Welcome to my world."
The boutique was beautiful.
Elegant dresses lined the walls, each one carefully displayed.
Soft music played in the background while sunlight streamed through the windows.
Sofia walked slowly between the racks.
"Lucy, these are amazing."
Lucy smiled proudly.
"I worked all week on new designs."
She suddenly grabbed Sofia's arm.
"Actually, I want to show you something."
Lucy pulled her toward a small fitting area at the back.
Then she revealed a dress hanging carefully on a mannequin.
Sofia's eyes widened.
It was the same deep blue dress Lucy had shown her on the tablet the night before.
But in real life, it looked even more stunning.
The fabric shimmered softly under the lights, and the silver detailing along the neckline caught the eye beautifully.
"Lucy…"
Lucy grinned.
"Try it."
Sofia laughed nervously.
"I can't wear that."
"Yes, you can."
"Lucy, it looks expensive."
Lucy crossed her arms dramatically.
"You are trying it on."
Sofia sighed.
She knew arguing with Lucy was useless.
A few minutes later, she stepped out of the fitting room.
Lucy's jaw dropped.
"Oh wow."
Sofia looked down at herself shyly.
The dress fit perfectly.
The blue color made her eyes look brighter, and the silver details gave the design a soft elegance.
Sofia turned slowly in front of the mirror.
"It's beautiful."
Lucy beamed proudly.
"I told you."
Just then, the shop door chimed again.
Lucy glanced toward the front.
"I'll be right back."
Sofia nodded and continued studying the dress in the mirror.
She rarely wore anything this elegant.
Most of her wardrobe was practical—professional clothes for the office.
But this felt different.
Almost… special.
A moment later, Lucy returned with a slightly surprised expression.
"Sofia…"
"What?"
"You might want to come out here."
Sofia frowned slightly.
"Why?"
Lucy looked amused.
"Because your CEO is standing in my shop."
Sofia froze.
"What?"
Lucy stepped aside.
And there, near the front entrance of the boutique…
Stood Leo Rivera.
Tall.
Composed.
Dressed in a simple but perfectly tailored black shirt and dark trousers.
He looked slightly out of place among the colorful dresses and soft music of the boutique.
But his attention was completely focused on one person.
Sofia.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Leo had entered the shop out of simple curiosity.
He had been walking nearby after finishing a business meeting in the area when he noticed the boutique window.
And through that window…
He saw her.
Now standing in front of him in that deep blue dress.
Her hair falling softly around her shoulders.
Her eyes wide with surprise.
She looked even more beautiful than she had the night before.
Leo cleared his throat slightly.
"Miss Mirano."
Sofia blinked.
"Mr. Rivera."
Lucy watched the scene with obvious fascination.
"So… you two know each other."
Sofia nodded quickly.
"Yes. Lucy, this is my boss."
Lucy smiled politely.
"Lucy Hemming. Owner."
Leo nodded respectfully.
"Leo Rivera."
Lucy glanced between them, clearly enjoying the moment.
"Well, I'll let you two talk."
And just like that, she disappeared to the back of the shop.
Leaving them alone.
Sofia shifted slightly, suddenly very aware of the dress she was wearing.
"I didn't expect to see you here."
Leo's voice remained calm.
"Neither did I."
His eyes briefly moved over the dress again.
"You look different."
Sofia felt her cheeks warm slightly.
"This is Lucy's design."
"It suits you."
The compliment was simple.
But sincere.
Sofia looked down shyly.
"Thank you."
For a moment, the shop felt strangely quiet.
Then Leo glanced around the boutique.
"Your friend seems talented."
"She is," Sofia said proudly.
"She works very hard."
Leo nodded.
Then his gaze returned to Sofia.
For the first time since she started working for him, he was seeing a different side of her.
Not the calm, efficient secretary sitting behind a desk.
But Sofia Mirano.
Relaxed.
Warm.
And unexpectedly captivating.
Leo spoke quietly.
"I didn't realize you lived in this area."
"It's not far from here."
Another small silence settled between them.
Then Sofia asked gently,
"Are you shopping for someone?"
Leo almost smiled.
"Not exactly."
Sofia wasn't sure what to say to that.
But before the moment could become too awkward, Lucy suddenly reappeared.
"Well!"
She clapped her hands cheerfully.
"What a surprise visit."
Leo nodded politely.
"I should probably leave. I didn't mean to interrupt."
Lucy waved dismissively.
"You didn't interrupt anything."
But Leo was already heading toward the door.
He paused briefly and looked back at Sofia.
"You look very nice in that dress."
Then he left.
The door chimed softly behind him.
Lucy immediately spun toward Sofia with wide eyes.
"Your boss is handsome."
Sofia covered her face with her hands.
"Lucy!"
Lucy laughed loudly.
"Oh, this is getting interesting."
Sofia couldn't help smiling a little.
But deep down, one thought lingered in her mind.
Leo Rivera had now seen her twice outside the office.
And both times…
He had looked at her very differently.
