Sanguinem.
Urd personally went to investigate the human escape. Although it was basically confirmed that the Vampires had fallen for an illusion, the cage's lock wasn't just for show.
Rig, Krul, and Luke finally had a chance to talk.
"Krul, what was your purpose in letting Yuu escape?"
Krul shook her head, pushing the blame onto Luke.
"This guy let him go. There must be some use for it."
Rig's gaze shifted to Luke, his eyes filled with inquiry.
Luke didn't answer immediately, instead asking Rig a question in return.
"You also saw the Progenitor's memories. What are your thoughts? Will you continue the Progenitor's plan to resurrect the angels, or will you find another way to preserve the Vampires?"
Rig raised an eyebrow.
"Why must we choose only one between resurrecting the angels and preserving the Vampires?"
Krul chuckled softly, disliking Rig's act.
"Don't play dumb. You know that the vessels for collecting Dark Energy created by the Progenitor are demons, and demons can only be transformed from Vampires."
Rig fell silent. He had indeed figured this out, but there was a divergence in his obsession between his ancient self and his current self, making it difficult for him to choose.
"Perhaps there is a way to preserve the Vampires. Krul, Luke, we can cooperate."
Krul and Luke didn't react, waiting for Rig to explain how they would cooperate.
"If I'm not mistaken, you've already collected five sin keys. That little girl from the Hiiragi Family should have one, and there's another one you know, on Byakuya Akane."
A brief look of shock appeared on Luke's face. Although he had suspected Byakuya Akane was transformed into a Seraph, confirming it was still a bit surprising.
"To be honest, I don't think these two sin keys are hard to get, as long as Urd doesn't find out."
Rig said with a smile to Krul.
"I don't know what your purpose is in collecting the sin keys, but I presume resurrecting Ashera is an inevitable part of it. Don't you think it's a bit overkill?"
Krul frowned, her eyes unfriendly.
"What are you trying to say?"
Rig straightened up, spreading his hands.
"Don't misunderstand, it's just that if you trust me, you can hand over the sin keys for me to research. I will find the correct path. Father has always been wrong, but we haven't failed yet, have we?"
Luke found it unreliable and scoffed.
"Those two sin keys I snatched have been in your hands for quite a while, haven't they? Even if I give you another hundred years to research, can you guarantee results?"
Rig wasn't annoyed and patiently explained.
"Before seeing Father's memories, I hadn't researched the resurrection aspect of the sin keys. I only knew they contained powerful energy, enough to kill Father, but now..."
"But now you don't want to kill the Progenitor anymore, right?"
Krul interjected.
Rig nodded. He didn't truly hate the Progenitor; he just wanted to follow in the Progenitor's footsteps and gain attention.
Krul waved her hand.
"It's too early to talk about these things now. Let's discuss it when the sin keys are all gathered."
Rig didn't insist that Krul and Luke agree now, but he said one thing as he left.
"You will agree, after all, you don't know the method of resurrection."
After Rig walked away, Krul asked Luke with a serious expression.
"What do you think? He's right, we don't know how to use the sin keys to resurrect my brother."
"Not having it temporarily doesn't mean we'll never have it. He's also only half-understood the sin keys."
Krul nodded.
"I trust you."
Luke didn't like the serious atmosphere and made a joke.
"Don't trust me yet, I don't even trust myself much."
Krul's face also showed a relaxed expression.
"Anyway, you promised me. If you can't do it, I won't let you off easily."
Just then, news came from Kyle's side. Luke's lips curved into a smile, and he put his arm around Krul's shoulder, walking towards the room where the Progenitor was imprisoned.
"Come on, come on, isn't there no method of resurrection? We'll just ask the Progenitor."
Krul was pulled away by Luke, somewhat confused.
Soon, the two arrived at the depths of the dungeon.
"Lady Krul!"
"Lord Luke!"
There were still many Vampires in the dungeon, most of whom were actually Ferid's confidants and followers. However, since Ferid had essentially rebelled, these guys were implicated.
Luke felt a headache from the noise.
"If you make any more noise, I'll have a private chat with each of you!"
The dungeon instantly quieted down a lot. No one wanted to experience a private chat with Luke.
"Why did Lacus arrange the Progenitor so deep, only to be harassed by these guys?"
Arriving at the deepest part, a specially made iron cage was placed there. The Progenitor was impaled all over with rods made of unknown materials, and the demonic sword floated beside the Progenitor.
The demonic sword flew back to Luke and was put away by him.
"How do you feel? Progenitor... no, Lord Sigmado."
The Progenitor opened his eyes, turning his head with difficulty to look at the two.
"So you are the master of that demon. Heh, if it weren't for your sudden appearance, I wouldn't have been caught by Rig."
Luke squatted down.
"But if I hadn't sent Kyle to save you, you would have been devoured by Shinoa Hiragi."
The Progenitor chuckled self-deprecatingly.
"Your aura and personality don't seem like you've been a Vampire for long. You, Shinoa, Yuu, all of you are acting outside of my plans. Let's get to the point."
Krul looked at Luke curiously. She hadn't expected Luke to have secretly saved the Progenitor.
Luke's face showed a mischievous smile.
"You answer me first: how should the sin keys be used to perform the resurrection ritual?"
The Progenitor narrowed his eyes, looking at Luke's face.
"You have someone you want to resurrect? No... you and Krul want to resurrect Ashera, right?"
Luke was a little surprised. Where did the Progenitor find that answer? He hadn't even mentioned Krul.
Facing Luke's and Krul's questioning gazes, the Progenitor chose not to explain.
"I advise you not to do that. Ashera cannot digest the power of seven sin keys, and a ritual activated without seven sin keys will trigger the apocalypse, like Guren did. Only by resurrecting Mikael, whom I created as a medium for the sin keys from the beginning, can I help you resurrect Ashera."
Krul frowned, clearly not believing the Progenitor.
"Rig made a similar guarantee not long ago."
The Progenitor merely smiled faintly.
"I know you've also seen my memories. I've always only had the idea of resurrecting everyone, not as heinous as you imagine."
Luke stood up, mercilessly exposing him.
"But in your plan, Vampires and demons are to be sacrifices."
The Progenitor nodded. This was indeed true.
"This is the only way, but you will all be resurrected as angels. Angels won't be immortal like Vampires, nor fragile like humans, nor greedy like demons. They are a nearly perfect race."
Luke noticed the 'you' the Progenitor mentioned.
"Will I also become an angel?"
The Progenitor nodded.
"The sin keys can not only resurrect but also create. They can perfectly create an angelic body for you."
