Chapter 3 - Conditioning

They dragged me inside the Room the two masked men hauling me through a metal doorway. My vision was still blurry my skull throbbing from the pain with the pain of that cursed melody

The door slammed shut behind us with a heavy pressurized seal

The Conditioning room was nothing like my Cell room. It was large, freezing cold the smell of bleach was heavy in the air my nose scrunching from the smell there was a single, heavy mechanical chair bolted in the middle of the room

I thrased in the guard biting one of them but the guard didn't even flinch they slammed me on the seat.

They started binding me on the chair with thick leather straps first my hands then my ankles the grip was tighter than the straight jacket the binding digging into my body it felt like my blood had stopped flowing properly my body felt numb lastly they binded my head to the chair so that I can't look away I was forced to look straight ahead at a wall of blank monitors.

The masked men stepped back leaving the room. A man entered the room inside the room.

He wasn't wearing a mask He wore a pristine white lab coat His face was sharp but the thing that terrified me most was his eyes they were completely empty. There was no malice in them Just clinical curiosity.

"The neuro receptors have taken beautifully to the serum" The man said his voice monotone He wasn't speaking to me He was speaking into a Recorder "Subjects pain response to Auditory Stimulus is was immediate and severe moving to the Second Phase"

"What did you do to me?" I screamed at him my voice cracking tearing at my raw throat

The man ignored me entirely. He took out a remote pressing a button on it

the monitors flickered to life the monitors emitted a bright light the light hurting my eyes

A pair of calipers came down prying my eyes open forcefully

The man walked towards a gramaphone turning it on

The song started again

The melody of the song filled the air the same agony ripped through my skull I thrased wildly against the restraints but the straps didn't even give a fraction of a inch

Then, the screen changed the blinding light turned into complex geometric shapes

Look away, Look away, Look away my brain screamed but i couldn't

The shapes turned faster synced to the beat of the song with every snare hit in the music the shapes changed into high definition imagery A city in flames, a faceless man, A man bleeding out on the pavement, a sheep being butchered brutally

Flash Pain

The imagery was moving to fast to comprehend but it was burning into my retinas The song felt like a drill on my skull

I bit down on my lip, warm blood dripping down on to my scrubs

"Heart rate is peaking, Let it burn in" the man voice echoed over the Music.

My lungs burned from screaming. My mind felt like it was breaking like glass The pain was rewriting my thoughts, erasing the edges who I am

As the song reached its agonizing end the screen flashed one last time

The music snapped off. The screens went dark.

I slumped forward gasping for air. trembling violently. The pain slowly receded. the melody of the song kept playing in my mind a silent loop on my broken mind.
