Chapter 13 - Palmer Square

"Okay, it is decided. We will go to Palmer Square. It is right next to us and there is cheap and good quality clothing… Eh? What is wrong?" Cameron turned her head to look at the small girl beside her and noticed that she was staring at the hospital building behind them.

'Is she worried about House?' Cameron thought.

"Nothing…" Renelle turned to look at Cameron while lifting her gaze. 'Wow. Who would have thought that now I have to lift my gaze to look my employee in the eyes…'

Renelle complained inside because of the new height difference between her and Cameron.

"Do not worry. I promise to return you safe and sound to your father, hehehe~" Cameron laughed softly while with her free hand she pinched Renelle's cheek. 'Wow, what soft cheeks~'

Cameron appreciated the feeling on her fingers.

"*Plaf!* I am not a child!" Renelle became furious and hit Cameron's wrist again with her fingers.

Naturally, the sound of the small fingers of Renelle colliding with Cameron's arm was only noise and caused no damage.

"Hehehe~ Alright, as an apology from this big sister I will buy you a gift~" Cameron began to speak in a tone of voice meant to convince a small child.

"Big sister? And here I thought you wanted to be my mother and you only want to be my father's daughter~" Renelle did not stay behind and quickly found a way to mock this employee who was disrespecting her only because her body had shrunk and her hormones had changed.

"I… Hump! Now because you are being naughty I will punish you with more pinches!~" Cameron first froze because of Renelle's words. The phrase —Being Renelle's mother— was born and repeated in her mind.

When Cameron's face turned crimson because of her thoughts, she began to attack Renelle by giving her more cheek pinches and tickles to hide her embarrassment.

Meanwhile, a man with a cane entered limping into a consultation room at Princeton-Plainsboro University Hospital.

House looked at the man waiting inside the consultation room. He was wearing a khaki-colored suit that highlighted the man's healthy orange skin tone.

House's eyes quickly scanned the patient from top to bottom. He also began to look around the entire consultation room.

"…I was playing golf when my club got stuck. Something hurt but I kept playing…" the man in the khaki suit explained his symptoms while sitting on a hospital bed and his hands moved nervously, with one hand playing with the ring on the ring finger of the other hand.

"Je~" House simply smiled after giving the patient a look.

"He is laughing. That is good. Whatever is happening to me cannot be very bad."

"I would not be so sure. You have an even bigger problem. Your wife is having an affair." House said while leaning against the wall.

"Eh? What?"

"You are orange. Too orange! It is one thing that you do not notice it, but the fact that your wife has not noticed that her husband is changing color means she is not paying attention to you.

If you consume a high amount of carrots and vitamins the carrots may turn you yellow and niacin red. If you have it in paint and mix it you get orange. And get a lawyer!"

"This is why I do not like doing clinic hours…" House complained out loud. Even though he was holding back his laughter.

'But… it seems the same thing happens when I use the illusion on my own body. It is like putting a black cloak over my eyes, the -magic- becomes invisible…' House or Renelle thought.

Renelle was being led by the hand by Cameron, but even while listening to Cameron talk and tell her about the city, points of interest, and so on, Renelle could easily control the clone.

Renelle had thought she would have difficulty, but Cuddy had interfered when she tried to hide and cancel the illusion, forcing her to do clinic hours.

Holding on for one hour would not be a burden for Renelle, so she could play around and pay the debt of clinic hours by giving consultations. But what Renelle did notice was the difference in her eyes, or her sight.

When Renelle left the hospital and looked back, many colored threads appeared in her eyes, floating and dancing in the air.

Although the threads flickered and disappeared, others appeared at random. But even when Renelle tried to observe the threads with the clone, she could not see them.

Concentrating, Renelle could also see a thread on Cameron, very bright, long, colorful and dancing. Full of energy.

She could also see it on other people. Some passersby who passed by greeted Cameron and she responded politely.

In just a few minutes Cameron and Renelle arrived at a corner from where they could see shops along the avenue.

On the opposite corner there was a church that Renelle only saw and quickly looked away. When the traffic light at the intersection turned red for vehicles and green for pedestrians, Cameron led Renelle across the street where there was a variety of shops.

The place did not have the aura of a metropolitan city but the atmosphere of a small town. It was not a noisy metropolis, it was not an aggressive capitalist shopping center. It was a historic, pedestrian, elegant but discreet space, with colonial architecture, warm brick, trees and people walking.

Renelle felt it was a good place to live. And now that she saw it calmly, she liked the place.

Following Cameron's guidance while she showed her places to eat, they arrived at the so-called Palmer Square and in the area where there were many boutiques one next to the other.

"What do you think? What style of clothing do you like?" Cameron asked while looking at the small girl beside her.

It was already five o'clock and a cold breeze could be felt, but Cameron felt comfortable at this moment even though Renelle was the one wearing her gabardine.

"Why did you stop me here? This is lingerie…" Renelle pointed at the place in front where Cameron had stopped by chance.

Cameron looked at the place Renelle was pointing at and in the boutique window there was an intimate red lace garment on a white mannequin without defined features.

Above it was written -Lace Silhouettes Lingerie-.

Cameron, with her face red, was about to speak but felt herself being pulled by the hand.

Renelle, without saying a word, simply pulled Cameron by the hand and entered a small gourmet shop that showed signs of having just opened.

Renelle looked at the menu written on a green chalkboard outside and after choosing entered to order a sandwich.

"Pay." Renelle said to Cameron while lifting her gaze to look her in the eyes.

'It is a joke. I am not going to pay. I have to bleed this employee for making fun of me.'

Cameron, seeing the look in the small girl's clear blue eyes, could only pay for the order and also order something for herself.

It did not take long for the food to be served and Cameron and Renelle went out.

"Are you going to eat all of that?" Cameron said while looking at the small girl with golden hair, now free from her hands, who was holding a large sandwich with her two small hands and taking a big bite like a little hamster to a large… well, sandwich of cheese and a variety of meats and hams.

"Do not expect me to give you any… Why did you order salad…?" Renelle spoke between bites and gave Cameron a disdainful look as she held a disposable container with a variety of green leaves.

"No… I was saying it because… Never mind." 'She has not eaten anything and she is this hungry? What does House think? Does he not have any food at home?'

Cameron, thinking about her boss's attitude and personality, imagined a kitchen covered in dust and a refrigerator full but only with sodas and alcoholic drinks.

'It is decided. I have to go to House's house with Renelle and check her living conditions. I am doing it for Renelle, not for any other reason!!' Cameron clenched her fist and thought, convincing herself that she had no other hidden motives.

While Renelle devoured her sandwich they arrived in front of a boutique with the name above a large display window -J.Crew Princeton-.

"What do you think of this clothing?" Cameron pointed at the boutique.

Renelle lifted her gaze and looked inside the boutique and felt that a vein on her forehead was about to explode with anger.

"You want to die!!!" Renelle said with fury while giving Cameron a look full of even more fury.

Cameron, looking at the tender fury that Renelle showed like a hamster with its cheeks puffed up with food, felt she was dying of tenderness and wanted nothing more than to hug the little sweetie with golden hair.

The store sold clothing for boys and girls from newborns to approximately twelve years old. There were light dresses with multicolored stripe patterns, large polka dots, nautical anchors and soft flowers. The colors were vibrant but harmonious: pastel pinks, turquoise blues, lemon yellows, mint greens, coral oranges and cherry reds, always combined with white, light gray or navy so they would not be garish.

Renelle felt that if she dressed in that she would rather self-immolate again even if she did not reincarnate this time.
