Chapter 9 - beyond hands

Angel stared at the floating leaf.

It moved slightly in the air.

Calm. Untouchable.

Without using hands…?

Her mind raced.

Then she stepped forward.

"I don't know how to do this without using hands…" Angel said, looking at Dr. Louis.

A pause.

"Can we use any weapons instead?"

Peter's face lit up.

"Yes! Finally, something easy."

Elsa stayed silent.

Watching. Thinking.

Dr. Louis walked slowly toward the leaf.

"If I give you a weapon…"

A pause.

"You will depend on it."

Angel frowned.

"This training is not about cutting a leaf."

His voice became deeper.

"It is about understanding what you already have."

Silence filled the room.

Angel's eyes slowly shifted to the leaf again.

What I already have…?

She took a breath.

"Okay… no weapons," she said.

A pause.

"But we can use any object nearby… right?"

Peter nodded quickly.

"Yeah, like throwing something—"

"—and using your hands again?" Elsa interrupted calmly.

Peter froze.

"…Oh."

Dr. Louis looked at Angel carefully.

"You are trying to find a shortcut."

Angel turned slightly.

"I am trying to understand the rule."

A small silence followed.

"Good," Dr. Louis said.

"But remember…"

"If your solution depends on the outside…"

"…then it is not your power."

The words stayed in the air.

Angel looked at him calmly.

"You also said…" she began,

"That strength alone is not enough."

A pause.

"We need intelligence… and patience."

Dr. Louis' eyes narrowed slightly.

"Smart," he said.

Angel bent down quietly.

Picked up two small, sharp stones.

Peter blinked.

"Wait… what are you doing?"

Angel stood still.

Her eyes fixed on the leaf.

Silent.

Calculating.

Then—

She threw both stones.

⚡ In two different directions.

They moved fast.

Precise.

For a moment—

Nothing happened.

Then—

✂️ The leaf split cleanly into two.

Silence.

Everyone froze.

Peter's mouth dropped open.

"But… how did you do that?"

Angel turned slightly.

A small confident smile appeared.

"This is the talent of a physics student."

She looked at Peter.

"That's why listening in class is more important than sleeping."

Peter scoffed.

"…Okay, that was cool."

Elsa smiled softly.

But her eyes were thoughtful.

Dr. Louis watched Angel closely.

"Good," he said finally.

"But that…"

A pause.

"Was not your power."

Angel's smile faded slightly.

She looked at him directly.

"Power depends on our talent," she said calmly.

A silence followed.

Peter blinked.

"Wait… what does that even mean?"

Dr. Louis stepped closer.

"Talent is only the beginning," he said.

A pause.
