Chapter 39 - 39

Eddie's principle was derived from Marcus, who was resurrected by the Leech Queen. Marcus clearly retained his memories and knew how to use various instruments. This proved that, in certain situations, the T-Virus would not damage the brain, though whether it enhanced it was unknown.

Chapter 61: Svetlana's Enhancement

Snap! Svetlana clenched her fists. She could feel her strength increasing, and by a significant amount. Beneath her calm exterior, there was an urge to fight, to vent her aggression. It seemed the serum had a tendency to induce a berserker state, though it wasn't very severe.

"Eat up, don't be shy," Eddie said with a smile, picking up a glass of goji berry water and a capsule. The capsule was made by his partner, Suzuki Yoko, a Japanese woman who was trustworthy and easy to control.

Svetlana didn't hold back, immediately digging in with gusto, not caring about her image. A woman who had been a special forces soldier would never have the delicate airs of a city woman; when it was time to eat, she ate, knowing that caring about her image would only leave her hungry.

Svetlana's appetite was even more astonishing than Karena's, reaching a full eighty pounds. Yet, she remained as slender as a supermodel; it was impossible to tell where all the food she ate went.

"How do you feel?" Eddie asked.

"Very good, very strong. I feel this sensation is excellent," Svetlana took a deep breath, clenching her fingers into a fist, producing snapping sounds that conveyed an astonishing sense of power.

"Good, you'll need some time to adapt. With increased strength, you also need control. Sometimes, picking up a water glass or opening a door might cause you to crush the glass," Eddie shared his experience eloquently. Jill was the same back then; both of them had no idea how many glasses and doorknobs they had broken.

No sooner had Eddie finished speaking than Svetlana effortlessly picked up a red wine glass, her grip perfectly controlled, without any excessive force that would cause it to shatter. "Is this what you mean? Haha, don't underestimate me; my control is very strong."

A boasting moment gone wrong? Eddie was a bit embarrassed, but Svetlana unexpectedly came to his rescue, appearing more understanding than the cold special forces instructor she had been. "It's just that you're not familiar yet. Once you train your skills, no matter how much strength you have, you'll be able to control it perfectly. This takes time to practice, it requires experience, and you're still young!"

"Alright, ladies, it's time for us to leave. Karena, go meet up with the other members of Delta Team. Keep an eye on Tricell. Also, if you get the chance, plan a few routes to escape Raccoon City even under absolute danger. I only want you to be responsible for this; it's very important," Eddie instructed.

"Mission accomplished, my dear boss!" Karena suddenly saluted professionally, putting on her gas mask with glowing blue edges.

"Svetlana, you will continue to protect my safety," Eddie continued.

"Of course, from now on, no one will be able to harm you!" Svetlana nodded, with unprecedented confidence.

The Mansion incident was just the beginning. Eddie knew very well that the real crisis would erupt when Spencer sent people to retrieve the G-Virus from William Birkin.

With information from Ada, combined with some news Alex had told him, Eddie knew that Spencer was preparing a tracking experiment before Umbrella completely slipped from his control.

The only thing Eddie didn't understand was why Spencer chose to test biological weapons. Wasn't his intention immortality? Was he just using these things to make money? Any of Umbrella's overt businesses surely generated more and faster revenue than the sale of biological weapons.

This was an incomprehensible matter; he truly didn't know what that old man was thinking. If he had the chance, Eddie would definitely ask that old man.

No sooner had he left the underground laboratory than his phone rang. It was Sergei, asking him to come to his office.

When Eddie arrived at Sergei's office, he found another man wearing sunglasses there. Wearing sunglasses in broad daylight, only Albert Wesker could be so pretentious, and he was also Alex's nominal older brother!

Sergei looked as if he had just been in a fight; his clothes still had some scorched marks, and the Tyrant bodyguard behind him also had scars, which, though healed, remained.

"In a month, you two will lead the Tactical Force members to investigate the Executive Training Center. Wesker, you are responsible for capturing the person impersonating Marcus and bringing him back!" Sergei said coldly.

"What, he really exists! Bring him back; I'm going to treat him to a half-hour firing squad meal!" Eddie said through gritted teeth.

Wesker was also startled; he had truly believed that Marcus had been resurrected. "I understand, I will do my best."

"Also, Wesker, I've noticed you've been in contact with Tricell. Have you forgotten the company's investment in you?" Sergei clearly disliked Wesker and was starting to pick a fight. Putting aside their prejudices, both Sergei and Wesker admired each other's work capabilities.

Wesker replied unhurriedly, without even a moment's thought, "This is something the Chairman asked me to do. I'm also responsible for intelligence work. Furthermore, the R&D department also said that some of Tricell's drugs are very useful to us. They are beneficial for stopping the life reactions of biological weapons and for their destruction."

"Hmph, don't let me find out you're up to any tricks, otherwise, you know the consequences for a traitor!" Sergei snorted coldly.

"I won't give you that chance either!" Wesker retorted, unwilling to show weakness. Old Wesker was never weak.

Thud! No sooner had Wesker spoken than he felt a blur before his eyes and was sent flying. He was actually one of the people who had survived the Progenitor Virus when he was a child, possessing superhuman strength and speed, though he hadn't reached his peak. Even so, he was far superior to ordinary people; fighting ten was not an issue at all.

What Wesker hadn't expected was that he couldn't even clearly see Sergei's punching speed. The opponent was too strong!

Sergei retracted his fist. He only wanted to teach Wesker a lesson and had no intention of killing him. "Remember your attitude and tone when speaking to your superiors from now on! Now get out."

Wesker's sunglasses had fallen off from the blow. He silently picked them up, his expression unchanged. Being defeated was due to his own lack of strength, and he yearned even more for powerful strength.

Eddie watched from the side, even pouring three glasses of red wine with interest. "Let's talk things over nicely, shall we have a drink first?"

"I have things to do, I'm leaving first," Wesker said, suppressing his anger, and walked out of the office towards William Birkin's laboratory. He needed William to help him develop a virus that could simulate death for escape.

Chapter 62: Another 300 Million Scammed

"Uncle Sergei, did you encounter that strange person?" Eddie asked after Wesker left.

"Yes, we fought. That strange person's strength is not weak, but I've driven him away. The next step is to restart the Executive Training Center. You need to complete this; you will become the director of the Executive Training Center," Sergei returned to his seat.

"I'm not going. Remote mountainous area, no way. There aren't even many female researchers," Eddie waved his hand, refusing. He didn't want to be some damn director of the Training Facility; that place might explode at any time.

"This is the company's decision; you must obey whether you like it or not," Sergei gave him no room for discussion.

"Alright, but I need funds, and I also need time. I can't go that quickly," Eddie nodded and said.

Another legitimate opportunity to scam money. Restart the Training Facility? That place was almost ready to explode; going there would be pointless, but he could scam a wave of money, which was delightful.

"The company will give you 300 million as start-up capital. You can request all personnel allocations. Do a good job, and don't disappoint me and the Chairman!" Sergei directly transferred 300 million. Umbrella was rich and had no shortage of money; even cleaning toilets there paid 10,000 a month.

Eddie, who received the money, beamed. "Alright, thank you, I'll work hard. By the way, what's the situation at the Training Facility? Don't we need to send people to check it out?"

"That monster has been driven away by me. Afterwards, I will send an inspection team. Once they confirm the extent of the damage, you will directly take office," Sergei hammered his right arm, seemingly having sustained a minor injury during his fight with Marcus.

Eddie knew very well that Marcus could not be killed. As long as the Leech Queen was alive, Marcus would not die. Marcus, to put it plainly, was a force composed of the Leech Queen, and while the Leech Queen was called a queen, she was actually just a leech. So please stop those bold ideas in your head; such thoughts are terrifying!

The biggest weakness of leeches was their fear of light; this was their only weakness. Any other conventional weapons could not harm them.

"I understand, I'll go prepare first!" Eddie nodded, appearing very respectful, but it was just for show.

Sergei, thinking that the other party had been intimidated by his power, waved his hand with satisfaction. "You may go. I will notify you if anything comes up. I won't be in Raccoon City during this time. If Wesker makes any unusual moves, you must tell me immediately."

"I understand, Uncle," Eddie nodded and turned to leave, but a cold smile played on his lips. He would definitely keep a close eye on Wesker, letting Wesker and Sergei have a good love-hate relationship.

After leaving the building, Svetlana, who was following behind, suddenly said, "I've seen the information given to me. To deal with those things, we need better firearms. I need some accessories. I'm not familiar with this place; can you get them?"

Eddie thought for a moment. "No problem, we need to find a professional."

Raccoon City's mid-range apartments were for people with a certain economic status, mostly Umbrella's mid-level employees, the type who couldn't afford a house but lived comfortably.

Ding-dong! The doorbell rang, followed by a flurry of footsteps, then a lively young girl opened the door, her eyes wary. "Who are you?"

"I'm Eddie, Barry's colleague. I have something to discuss with him. Could you please pass on the message? Thank you," Eddie said with a smile.

"Alright, wait a moment," the girl turned and shouted into the house, "Barry, someone's here for you! Your colleague Eddie! Get your ass out here!"

Eddie was surprised. The girl looked pretty, but as soon as she spoke, she used profanity; she was a bit too fierce.

"Moira, how dare you talk to me like that!" Barry's voice sounded very angry.

"That's how I talk! You talk like that too, I'm just imitating you!" The girl showed no deference to him.
